What were his 70s highs? Laying an egg against Harley? I'll give him this: he could sell better than he's given credit for. And was demonstrably a better wrestler than Jesse Ventura. I didn't vote for Graham, but his WWWF stuff in 76-78 from MSG and Philly is mostly good, never bad, and often really memorable. Vs. Bruno, Dusty, Putski, Mascaras (two otherwise crappy wrestlers), Backlund, are almost as good as it gets in NYC during this time. I probably should've found a spot for Superstar

Plus Heenan trained and started his career as a wrestler, and wrestled extensively in all the other areas he worked, including a fair amount in WWF Steven, surely you can find a better pic of Heenan. Preferably one from the 70s with a classic crimson mask

Can't lie, seeing a podcast that long is a huge buzzkill. Just need to be prepared to make dents and get through it in time. But loving it so far. Makes the commute and traffic a whole lot more tolerable. Oh believe me it's a buzz kill for me as well. Going in to this I wanted it to be the "concise" GWE pod. Silly me

Graham worked the Miami Superbowl of Wrestling show against Race, title vs title, in early 78. Probably worked some other dates since he was a name in the territory. Florida TV was available in the New York area as well. Most fans in Florida wouldn't have been familiar with WWF guys outside of the ones that worked there before, like Graham or Backlund, unless you followed the mags. Backlund staying Florida wouldn't have really benefitted Graham much because he wasn't going to be pushed ahead of Dusty or Jack Brisco as a top star.

Vince Sr was a part of the NWA at that point and tight with a lot of promoters, especially Eddie Graham. Backlund worked in Florida while WWF champ on occasion, perhaps most notably against Harley Race in a couple unification matches in 1978

I think part of it is context. I'm more familiar with both guys than you. So I picked up on some of the nuances that you might have missed. Also again because of familiarity some of the nuances hit me.I had only seen brief clips of Nakamura before Friday and never a full match, and I almost wet myself I was so excited with the Takeover match. The unique atmosphere mixed with an unusual for WWE style match and Nakamura's awesome charisma, worked at super crazy pace, make it easily one of the best matches I've seen in years, even counting old school stuff
