  1. For those interested in the history of 50s-70s wrestling, I just started the Gene Kiniski bio by Steve Verrier (who also wrote a pretty good history of Pacific NW wrestling) and it's really well researched and really good
  2. I'm without consistent wi fi until sometime in March. We'll be back eventually
  3. Main event was great but outside of Bryan being being awesome the rest of the show was pretty much a typical nothing WWE card
  4. Whoops, I meant "shouldn't"
  5. Should've used the accent above the "e" in the title of the Hercules Ayala RIP thread @Edwin
  6. When I watched them all a few years back the one that really stood out besides the MSG match was from Boston Garden 3/5/88. Not sure how readily available it is these days but it's definitely a very good match and worth tracking down Edit: I see now that it's one of the Prime Time matches, 5/16/88
  7. Come on guys, I can't even watch this week (perhaps not for several weeks due to my present sans cable, sans wi fi situation) and I still have to make the thread?
  8. I've never listened to a Tony/Conrad pod. I know he's a WWF fanboy at heart, but Conrad really doesn't like 80s Crockett?
  9. Scurll got main roster money AND the book. Hopefully he can turn ROH around. Will be interesting to see this all play out. Plus he can work New Japan, NWA and maybe AEW. He's one of the biggest winners in the wrestling talent-signing spree of the last year or so
  10. Yes, with Mr. Hito. Maybe the title of this thread could be altered a bit because my first thought was it was the well-known English wrestler of the 60s and 70s also named Kendo Nagasaki who passed away
  11. I was gonna say lol. Isla Dawn is as white as Sheamus
  12. Hahaha...yeah, that's become an ordinary move even more than the Canadian Destroyer
  13. God bless Dave for giving Firpo's obit top billing in the WON over the Wrestle Kingdom review
  14. For what it's worth, Dynamite smoked NXT in the ratings last night, and has posted big numbers the last two weeks
  15. Nice write up by Meltzer explaining his importance and influence (Savage patterned his voice and promo style off Firpo) https://www.f4wonline.com/other-wrestling/pampero-firpo-passes-away-89-years-old-301281
  16. Wow, I definitely didnt feel like I was watching an all time horrible segment at the time but apparently I was. I was drinking a large beer when it was on but I hardly had Johnny goggles. Oh well, I guess I'm the only one who didnt think it was Russo TNA level bad. Seriously though, outside of Jericho and Moxley, most of AEW for the last couple months has been totally skippable. The Jan 1 show was a lot of fun but this week's show was back to the uninteresting, lukewarm vibe they ended 2019 with, even if I didnt hate the Nightmare stuff like everyone else. AEW definitely isn't must watch TV. The crowds are getting smaller each week too. I think the "everyone plays their own music" idea was a noble one, but this promotion really needs a booker with veto power and a clear vision before things truly fly off the rails
  17. Great angle fitting for Memphis
  18. It was good, nothing remarkable
  19. Looks like the Memphis tribute is for YouTube only Oh, but the legends are at ringside and MJF gave the RnRs the double bird
  20. Cody has taken some crazy ass bumps the last two weeks, my God
  21. Ha, well I know you at least have good taste in old school wrestling, Will
  22. Loved the women's match with everyone in the division being involved and multiple stories being told at once. Great stuff
  23. Meanwhile in the PIP Hangman Page is becoming one of the biggest babyfaces in wrestling by walking through the crowd and being a beer drinking man of the people
  24. Cool, Dave Brown is in the booth
  25. Pretty good card on paper, plus a Memphis tribute. If the tribute makes TV you have to assume some wild angle takes place to pay homage
