Beth Phoenix is just a commentary doll with push button responses or is just reading a script, not sure -

I think it happened in the late 70s or early 80s. Just a case of too much alcohol mixed with alpha male personalities afaik -
A great Mox vs Allin match topped off a really good show in front of a super hot crowd. Allin may be the breakout star of the year
-
Fuck Cornette. This show is awesome. Hopefully the scandal blows over and things resume as usual. Really looking forward to what they put together for the PPV and how it comes off in the ring when not constrained by the TV format

https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/the-greatest-world-cast-of-all-time-the-destroyer-tribute-feat-daniel-makabe?in=prowrestlingonly/sets/world-cast-specials The boys team up with the Wrestling Genius, 2019 SCI winner Daniel Makabe, to pay tribute to one of the greatest professional wrestlers ever, Dick Beyer, aka The Destroyer!!! The crew cover the remarkable story of The Destroyer, from LA to Portland to Texas to the AWA as Dr. X, and then to Japan for a legendary run where he crossed over to the mainstream. They cover screwjobs, head shavings, riots, crazy angles, blood feuds and rivalries, and everything in between. They look at matches featuring Hiro Matsuda, Dick Slater and Killer Karl Kox, Abdullah the Butcher, Verne Gagne, the freakin' WOLFMAN, and of course a legendary match with long-time rival, Mil Mascaras. This is a great show folks, one of the best the boys have ever been part of. Don't miss it!!!!

I should've been more specific. I meant the KM website/message board. It vanished a while back. Not a particularly lively place, but there was a bunch of valuable historical info dispersed throughout -

[2019-11-09-AEW-Full Gear] Chris Jericho vs Cody
Ricky Jackson replied to paul sosnowski's topic in November 2019
This was a great, old school story-driven match and I loved it. This one had all kinds of twists and turns, blood, great heat and a really well done finish considering the stip and the history between Cody and MJF. I'm a little torn on going all the way with the turn last night, but the crowd's reaction was great, topped off by MJF being pelted with trash like a good heel should be. This pretty much sets up the ideal scenario for Cody going forward I mentioned a few days ago, have him work blood feuds and have a groundswell of support, and some creative booking, eventually allow him to challenge for the title again. Jericho also keeps his great douchebag old man run going, barely escaping time and again, and when he is finally defeated for the title it will be a big moment. Cody's had a great year, everything has really come together for him. Great stuff ****1/4 -
I thought that was a great show. Jericho vs Cody and the post match was one of the best things in 2019 pro wrestling
-
That was awesome. The match, the angle, great stuff
-
Really good match with Paige and Pac. Popped for Hangman winning. Cool little rivalry they're building between them
-
Cody's hot and cut a killer promo like his daddy. Also like his daddy, I think most of the time he should chase the title and work blood feuds. I suppose the WK match Jericho has coming up may precipitate a title switch soonish, but they can likely milk it for a bit longer.

The modern hardcore audience is extremely passionate and supportive of what they love, but there just isn't enough of them to turn back the clock to 1998. This is more like 1995 in many ways, low attendance and irrelevance for WWE, a new contender on the national stage (of course WCW had been national for years, but Nitro was new and different) and a similarly passionate hardcore fanbase wanting change. Things are so different now, though. Who knows what the future holds, something could catch fire, but I dont know if a major boom is still possible
-
When they revamped the Network they eliminated the year-by-year Hidden Gems setup and have only re added a selection of what was available before. Not sure how much is missing
-
Any thoughts on this week's show? I thought it was another good ep with more subtle angle advancement regarding Tim Storm and Kamille. There is a lot of uncertainty with Storm (is he going to snap and go heel, or is this a slow redemption story with him eventually regaining the NWA title?) and Kamille continues to be a wonderful mystery (why did she interfere during the James Storm vs Cabana match?). The RnR's finally debuted this week. And there was an interesting angle involving the women. Again, the show moves fast but the overall story moves slow. Maybe my favorite wrestling program right now

Episode 79 https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-79 October 22, 1983 Big show this week. From the Sportatorium, the boys review an uber rare NWA title defense on TV, as reigning champ Harley Race takes on the Iceman! Also... -Is Superpush '83 dead? -What the hell are "Super D's"? -As a bonus from Ft. Worth TV 10/24/83, Garvin vs Adams for the TV title! -Plus a big announcement about an upcoming special episode featuring a certain wrestling genius! -
Another fun week of Power, with things moving at a breakneck pace. They really cram a ton into 50+ minutes. But even with the show moving fast, angle progression is slow and deliberate. A bunch of possible directions have been teased since the debut episode but things are parceled out in a way that leaves future direction uncertain, and that's a good thing. Really like Aldis and Drake. Tim Storm, although not featured today, is a such a fascinating story. Cornette is hilarious. Women's division needs work no doubt. Love this show
-
Yep. Need to rewire our brains and not see everything like WWE booking. That's what I love about AEW and Power, it's a fresh start without all the predictable topes at every turn
-
Better shoehorn those historical facts into more Fox programming asap

During the World Series telecast on Fox, Koloff defeating Sammartino for the "WWE championship" (whatever) given a shout out by Joe Buck with a graphic (the famous photo of Koloff coming off the top with a knee) as a memorable cultural moment from 1971 during a history of baseball in Washington (1971 was the year one of Washington's earlier teams left for Texas). Gotta love the cross promotion! -
Anyone know how many tix were made available for Full Gear? Sounds like it's getting close to a sellout. I just realized a few minutes ago that it's being held at what was formally the Baltimore Arena. That's cool, I didnt even know that building still existed. Lots of big wrestling moments happened there over the years
