  1. Highly recommend the Survivor Series 88 ep, which is barely about the show itself. Mostly it's Arn giving his opinions on working, drawing, gimmicks, all the different wrestlers on the card, and all kinds of other stuff and backstage insight. Really good stuff here
  2. Yeah, the bulk of the show wasn't must see or anything, but the bookends featuring Jericho were top notch, with a good hook at the end for next week
  3. My major complaint with that random debut was Excalibur not explaining where he knew them from to a totally confused JR
  4. The decade is almost over and it's really been an interesting, exciting, and transformative one for pro wrestling. There have been really high highs and some pretty low lows. Personally, at the start of the decade I was pretty uninterested in modern wrestling and I think the overall state of the business was at a low point. It seemed like it was all WWE and not much else, at least what was garnering buzz and perceived as being healthy. Slowly things began to change, with the rise of New Japan being the first spark. By mid-decade I was getting back into modern stuff, with my gateway drug being the women in NXT. As the decade ends, I'm probably more interested in new wrestling than I have been since around 2005-06, although still a serious old school fan deep down. I think that creative, variety and quality wise wrestling is much better in 2019 than in 2010, even if overall mainstream popularity may be lower than it has been since maybe the mid-90s. Anyway, I thought it would be fun to discuss the best of the 2010s. Best matches, best wrestlers, best shows, best promotion, etc. We can talk about the biggest moments, breakout stars, best developments, whatever. I'd like to see what consensus comes from this board, made up of some of the hardest of the hardcores I'll start the ball rolling with a few off the top of my head... Best match: I'm far, far from being an expert on 2010s wrestling and one who has seen all the most hyped matches. Of the ones I did see, I think Sasha Banks vs Bayley from Takeover Brooklyn 2015 stands out the most. It was the culmination of a title chase, a great match, felt huge at the time in front of a large, hot crowd, and is historically important Best show: NXT Takeover Philadelphia 2018 At the peak of my NXT fandom and one of the peaks of the decade when coupled with a really good Royal Rumble show the next day in the same building. Loved the main event, one of my favorite matches of the decade. Undercard was solid, with Black vs Cole probably being the standout Best wrestler: It feels like this should go to one of the women, with their great advancement being one of the best stories of the decade, but as I think about it, I dont think any one really stands head and shoulders above the crowd. Daniel Bryan was hugely important and consistently awesome, but he missed a good chunk of the decade to injury. Again, I'm far from an expert, but I feel like Kazuchika Okada is probably the pick, combining matches, star power, consistency and the remarkable story of going from TNA joke to history changing megastar over the course of the decade These are just my knee jerk, emotional, and only partially informed picks. Let's hear what PWO has to say!
  5. Yeah, I was loving this show too, but between the Cornette bs and the PPV card reveal it's totally flown off the tracks the last couple weeks
  6. Episode 80 https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-80 October 26 & November 5, 1983 Kelly is lost in the internet ether, so Pete and Johnny bring back some of that Space City magic for a review of TWO Sportatorium shows! Among the highlights... -An "encore" match from Ft. Worth TV, featuring Kamala losing his tag team match virginity -The MASKED AVENGER is here ...and he's wearing the Texan's mask.(remember him?) Did Pete and Johnny notice? Tune in to find out! -What the F*** is Black Gordman doing back in the territory? -JUDY MARTIN is here...but is it a disappointment? -Mike Reed should not be getting this much offense -Another horrible Network dub job -JYD is here...although strangely under-hyped -Superpush '83 is truly dead and Gordy's Oriental spike killed it
  7. The first 65 tracks are on the PWO Soundcloud I linked above, no?
  8. I missed a lot in the early 2000s, is that when they did that? I totally dont remember show ending battle royals at all
  9. Hahaha, yeah they booked the show as an advertisement to watch NXT on Wednesday. Vince you've still got it you crazy old bastard
  10. I'm having flashbacks to Mania
  11. Is there a tiebreaker if Smackdown wins this match or is this just nothing matters, who cares, nobody references this after tonight bs?
  12. Why is Rey dressed like Doink?
  13. Really, fucking Walter eliminated first?
  14. Well the crowd was dead early and is now rabid, but God damn I hate Adam Cole
  15. Beth Phoenix is just a commentary doll with push button responses or is just reading a script, not sure
  16. I think it happened in the late 70s or early 80s. Just a case of too much alcohol mixed with alpha male personalities afaik
  17. A great Mox vs Allin match topped off a really good show in front of a super hot crowd. Allin may be the breakout star of the year
  18. Fuck Cornette. This show is awesome. Hopefully the scandal blows over and things resume as usual. Really looking forward to what they put together for the PPV and how it comes off in the ring when not constrained by the TV format
  19. World Cast of the Champions VIII: GCW at the Omni, 11/6/83 https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-of-the-champions-viii-gcw-at-the-omni-11683 November 6, 1983 Pete is joined by J.B. and Johnny P for an in-depth look at a recent Hidden Gem, 11/6/83 GCW from the Omni in Atlanta, the first show in the building following the legendary Last Battle of Atlanta! Brad Armstrong vs Joe Lightfoot Jake Roberts vs Ron Garvin National TV title Jimmy Valiant vs the Great Kabuki Buzz Sawyer vs Abdullah the Butcher Road Warriors vs Dusty Rhodes & Brett Sawyer National Tag Team title Tommy Rich vs Ted Dibiase This is a fun show full of great analysis, folks. Regular-sized, Dallas-style World Cast resumes next week!
  20. https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/the-greatest-world-cast-of-all-time-the-destroyer-tribute-feat-daniel-makabe?in=prowrestlingonly/sets/world-cast-specials The boys team up with the Wrestling Genius, 2019 SCI winner Daniel Makabe, to pay tribute to one of the greatest professional wrestlers ever, Dick Beyer, aka The Destroyer!!! The crew cover the remarkable story of The Destroyer, from LA to Portland to Texas to the AWA as Dr. X, and then to Japan for a legendary run where he crossed over to the mainstream. They cover screwjobs, head shavings, riots, crazy angles, blood feuds and rivalries, and everything in between. They look at matches featuring Hiro Matsuda, Dick Slater and Killer Karl Kox, Abdullah the Butcher, Verne Gagne, the freakin' WOLFMAN, and of course a legendary match with long-time rival, Mil Mascaras. This is a great show folks, one of the best the boys have ever been part of. Don't miss it!!!!
  21. I should've been more specific. I meant the KM website/message board. It vanished a while back. Not a particularly lively place, but there was a bunch of valuable historical info dispersed throughout
  22. Anyone know what the heck has happened to Kayfabe Memories?
  23. This was a great, old school story-driven match and I loved it. This one had all kinds of twists and turns, blood, great heat and a really well done finish considering the stip and the history between Cody and MJF. I'm a little torn on going all the way with the turn last night, but the crowd's reaction was great, topped off by MJF being pelted with trash like a good heel should be. This pretty much sets up the ideal scenario for Cody going forward I mentioned a few days ago, have him work blood feuds and have a groundswell of support, and some creative booking, eventually allow him to challenge for the title again. Jericho also keeps his great douchebag old man run going, barely escaping time and again, and when he is finally defeated for the title it will be a big moment. Cody's had a great year, everything has really come together for him. Great stuff ****1/4

    AEW Full Gear

I thought that was a great show. Jericho vs Cody and the post match was one of the best things in 2019 pro wrestling
