  1. Harley's such a tough badass that he could have taken on both of them singlehandedly.
  2. If online arguments happened the same in real life, every conversation ever held would end in a fistfight.
  3. Yes, I realize that. Yet there seems to be much less LaBell stuff than, say 70's Florida, 70's AWA, and 70's All Japan, and 70's WWWF at least.
  4. Did Bruno Sammartino ever face Harley Race at some point in time? The prospect of seeing Race bump for Bruno gives me partial wood. Why isn't there very much SF/LaBell promotion footage from the 70's out there? Or am I looking in all the wrong places?
  5. Only short clips shown on Championship Wrestling after the change. Something to do with the tape getting damaged and only partial clips were preserved, or something along those lines. I searched pretty thoroughly for the full match and it does not appear to be out there.
  6. James, 35, spent all my life in rural KS and the sprawling metropolis of Wichita. Can remember watching as early as '82, World Class on satellite and what must have been Central States TV, but no vivid memories. WWF syndies and the Cartoon hit around here in 1985 and I was hopelessly hooked right away, and turned up a notch in 1989 by keeping detailed notebooks of all TV results, match times, and feuds going on in WWF and JCP (to a lesser extent). Lost interest the minute Hogan returned in early '93, quit following cold turkey and got hooked again in '96 after hearing about the Hogan heel turn. What actually hooked me was flipping over to WWF and seeing that my favorites from the early 90's were now WWF headliners (Austin, Cactus, Bret). Quit paying close attention in late 1998 and have been in and out ever since. Total WWF guy, but if I want to sit down and watch wrestling purely for in-ring, it's All Japan. Generally tend to like everything I've seen from everywhere, though, and aim to see it all eventually.
  7. The Rougeaus should have brought in a house cat to combat the Bulldogs and Matilda. The cat would be black, and would end up with a white strip of paint from a different scenario each week. Jimmy Hart could bring in the litter box and they could have worked that into the mix as well.
  8. I'm surprised they never did anything where Frankie shits on a heel to kick off a feud.
  9. Maybe in Europe, pal.
  10. HOLY SHIT, what Johnny said!
  11. Meh, not interested anymore. A person could point to a booking philosophy that draws and be correct. Someone could come along and prove that theory incorrect in 30 seconds by pointing to a card that was set up totally different that drew well and be correct. It's all a huge gray area. Likely fun to discuss for a while. Then things will devolve to a point where we're arguing whether toilet paper should come off the roll over the top or from the bottom, or whether Frankie was a better worker than Damien or Matilda. Everything has worked, nothing has worked, each approach is correct, each is incorrect. (Over the top is correct)

  13. How about Little Beaver?
  14. Just saw this now. In short, yes it looks like a trap. Feels like a college term paper assignment I'll tackle it later without this pesky work day getting in the way.
  15. Start with your favorite and your gut instinct, Corino. Lots of season/series premier TV shows kick off with two-parters. Colt Cabana second, TJP last. In comment threads or wherever for the first two, you could elaborate on your concept ideas for future shows which would build us up for this one.
  16. Yes I have it but haven't watched one bit of it, and know next to nothing about AWA.
  17. If you guys ever need someone to fill the Art Donovan Role - "Clueless putz in over his head that single-handedly derails everything", I'm generally available
  18. Cheers - Hulk Hogan is wrestling on tv. Woody: "Wow Hulk Hogan really is amazing" Frasier: "Hulk's thing is fixed, Woody" Woody: "Wow, that's a real shame that Hulk Hogan can't have children"
  19. There was no issue with Rockers-Orients going in to WM. The salt in the eyes finish at WM set up their house show run that went thru the summer.

  21. Hell yes, this sounds like it has potential.
  22. I don't have a dog in this fight and to be honest, don't totally follow the arguments. Would it be safe to say, generally speaking that: WWF tended to have one feud going at a time with a rolling boil, then 3-5 other things with that simmered on low burners. JCP had 5-6 burners turned up to maximum heat more often than not. WWF kept things at a simmer because for a period of time they did crazy business and there was no incentive to turn up the heat. In the summer/fall of 1991, they had a significant drop-off in house show business and in turn, added more heat to their various pots on the stove. So if each company on a given night (say, 1986 thru 1988) had the exact same number of matches that had heat/feud/whatever attached to them, JCP's tended to have way more heat associated with them, and more vested crowd interest.

  24. We might be twins. Actually, I pretty much picture everyone here looking like that (no offense to anyone, and please don't shatter this illusion for me). I like Kane better than HHH
  25. I have been waiting for a Gordy topic to pop up in order to ask - what are some specific matches for a person to seek out that demonstrates the greatness of Gordy? Outside of his 1992 WCW run and random AJP matches, I haven't seen enough of the guy to form any sort of an opinion. (Saw him live on an independent show in October of 1998 vs Jake Roberts and it was...sad to watch)
