[1995-09-30-WCW-Saturday Night] Johnny B. Badd and Diamond Dallas Page
BackToBionic replied to Loss's topic in September 1995
Every time I see Johnny B Badd all I can think about is how my 7th grade Geography teacher had an autographed 8x10 of him behind her desk. After staring at it for months I finally worked up the nerve to ask her about it. She was like "OH HES SO CUTE I JUST LOVE HIM". I never mentioned it again.- 6 replies

It's such a weird finish. If they wanted to renege on the advertised stip, why involve Owen in the finish at all? Bulldog or even Yoko getting pinned would have made more sense. It's almost WCWian in it's lack of logic.

Given Lawler's million year feud with Bret at the time, it was funny when he was doing the whole "I CAN'T STAND SHAWN" and being disgusted by the striptease which is Bret's opinions summed up.

So this is reason they did the Nitro there.

McMichael was a terrible commentator but I suppose he at least had passion for the sport? He seems genuinely excited (maybe overly so at times) Bischoff is terrible too in this era of Nitro. He'd just shit all over most guys that weren't Hogan, Sting or Savage.

[1995-08-21-WWF-Raw] Diesel & Davey Boy Smith vs Men on a Mission

Bulldog did a really cool powerslam to Diesel here. He picked him up so effortlessly that it made Nash look small.- 22 replies

They have the legit baddest dude in wrestling at the time and they put him in a giant goofy head like you'd see at Disneyland. Oh, WCW.- 5 replies

[1995-08-22-ECW-TV] The Sandman vs Mikey Whipwreck (Singapore Cane)
BackToBionic replied to Loss's topic in August 1995
I hadn't watched wrestling in almost 3 years when I saw this (and the past few weeks) episode of ECW. I live in Florida and was pretty excited by what I saw. Then it disappeared, because of this angle. It wasn't available again in Florida until well after the first PPV. -

[1995-07-09-WWF-Action Zone] Barry Horowitz vs Skip
BackToBionic replied to Loss's topic in July 1995
Chris Candido is my favourite wrestler of all-time. He was extremely nice to me when I managed to speak to him circa 1998. When I told him he was my favourite wrestler, he spoke to me for almost an hour. So this era is very hard to watch for me. Having said that, even at the time of that conversation, with the WWF run fresh in his mind, he had nothing but nice things to say about most of the people I asked him about, Horowitz included. -
[1995-07-08-WCW-Saturday Night] Dungeon of Doom vignette
BackToBionic replied to Loss's topic in July 1995
As these are progressing, I can't help but think how perfect Sullivan would've been in ECW at this point and instead he's doing this cartoon gimmick. I'm sure he was making a lot more money though so I'm sure he can't complain but sheesh...- 7 replies

To be fair, it's a pretty catchy song and better than some stuff that become legit hits.

Yeah, people always down the gimmick but I think it's pretty good. It was the booking of the gimmick that killed it.
