  1. It seems like they were writing her out of this angle (and the Faarooq angle the next night) so she could go host Live Wire. Total waste. Too bad they didn't have Sable do that (as scary as it would've been to see Sable try to form sentences for an hour on live TV) and have Sunny stick to managing.
  2. I love that when this was filmed they apparently didn't even know who the 4th man was. Just saying "Man I can't believe they didn't know it was gonna be him!"
  3. I always thought Sting was kind of a bastard to get so defensive when everyone thought it was him. I mean...it did look exactly like him from our vantage point.
  4. I love that guy next to him that looks like Jesse from Breaking Bad going "NEXT WEEK FIVE! YEAH NEXT WEEK FIVE!"
  5. A friend of mine had that jacket at the time. And he was a male.
  6. Because I had all these Raws for a few years recorded and very little else to do as a kid, I've probably seen this match 30 times. I really liked it and was a huge Owen mark even as a kiid. These two always had good matches.
  7. My favourite part was the Heenan thing. I love how real he was selling it. I also remember the Macho Man jumping on the speeding car being the first time I'd heard wrestling talked about the next day at school (middle school) in years. Also the fans chanting boring and the announcers acknowledging it was pretty funny, in retrospect.
  8. I was only allowed to rent one PPV a month and I favoured WWF so I made my mind up I'd go for International Incident. But our cable system at the time only scrambled the image on PPVs so I would sometimes listen to the WCW PPVs. I remember clearly listening to this so intently and being dumbfounded when the first thing Hogan said was "Tell these fans to shut up!" I wanted to see it so bad that I bought it on VHS a few months later. In retrospect, the Heenan line is pretty awful. I don't think it killed it dead at the time because people were so shocked, but yeah on rewatch it sticks out big time.
  9. I liked McMichael as a Horseman. Big dumb oaf. They had 3 amazing wrestlers (3 of the greatest ever) so he was a good 4th. This angle was very well done. In the weeks leading up to it, it wasn't completely telegraphed. I just read a bunch of WONs from around this time but I can't remember if Meltzer knew about this too far in advance.
  10. My parents knew Goldust was my favourite around this time and I was 12...what were they thinking?
  11. Hall never mentions Hogan when he runs down the big names. Did they know at this point for certain that Hogan was gonna be their third? I thought it was still up in the air at this point.
  12. It was really done so well. I never realised he just walks to the back though...kind of odd given what he just said.
  13. My mom threatened to never rent another PPV during all that. Thank God they ended up re-airing it free or I would've gone without PPVs for a long time (tragedy for a 12 year old).
  14. The commentary is my favourite "IT'S THE KLIQ!"..."YOU KNOW WHY HE'S DOING THAT RIGHT!?" and then the utter marking out when they all embrace "WHAAAT?!?! OHH MY GOODDDDD YEAH YEAH YEAH!" is just awesome. That dude is near orgasmic.
  15. I got back into wrestling around this time, after watching Wrestlemania, and a lot of this stuff is totally unfamiliar despite the fact that I'm positive I was watching this (and only this....wasn't into WCW again yet). But I clearly remember this for some reason.
  16. Never before or since, has a wrestling promotion so perfectly known their audience. They shoulda handed out spoons at the door cos the crowd ate this shit up.
  17. He does say "This is the greatest sports entertainment in the world!" which is interesting.
  18. At least they used him right on his way down. Vader got put over big here. Such a shame it led to essentially nothing.
  19. "WCW have all those old stars from the 80s! They suck! Now here's the return of the ULLLLLLLLTIMATE WARRRRRIOR!!!"
  20. Yeah, Shawn and Bret going to restholds so early in a match with that much heat was a definite precursor to their match at Mania. Cool match though.
  21. You can really see that WCW was willing to try new things at this time, which is nice.
  22. The farting noises were out of control on this one. One week they're advertising in New York Times appealing to shareholders and the next there's like 4 fart noises in less than a minute.
  23. Yeah, they really wasted her. Maybe if she had things to keep her busy she wouldn't have gotten into trouble so easily. Unlikely, but we'll never know because instead they gave the lead "diva" role to Sable, who didn't have 1/100th of the charisma and/or interest in wrestling that Sunny had.
