[1992-08-08-WCW-Saturday Night] Big Van Vader vs Ron Simmons
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in August 1992
I'd be nitpicking about Watts talking about making wrestling credible and then having eight guys put their names in a brown paper bag and the winner become number one contender. Well, the moment of Simmons winning overshadows all that. Simmons survived some big moves from Vader too. Crowd went pretty crazy for the finish.- 18 replies

Armstrong was sticking it to the Bodies in this match. Booting Cornette from ringside for a little powder use and a fast three count. Cornette had another fit in the ring after. Fans start throwing trash into the ring and Cornette starts swatting it back at them with his tennis racket.

[1992-08-08-SMW-Fire on the Mountain] Rock & Roll Express vs Stud Stable
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in August 1992
Alright match but it was nice to see Rock & Roll back out there together. Agreed that they should have just gone with the double dropkick as the finish.- 10 replies

[1992-08-08-SMW-Fire on the Mountain] Brian Lee vs Dirty White Boy
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in August 1992
Lee does hit a couple aerial moves. Whoever did the run in almost ran into the referee when trying to exit the ring. They had three other sides of the ring to leave and picked the one where the ref was.- 9 replies

Great recap of the feud so far. Thought Cornette was getting up a bit too quick on some of the lumps he was taking though.

I guess when they were looking for old footage for Dave Brown's 25th anniversary they stumbled across the Tommy Rich video in the archives. Barking dog interrupting Tommy's promo at the big farm. The Gilberts bail when Dundee shows up as a surprise opponent for Eddie.

I don't like the stip where both guys on a team can be tagged in and must wrestling one another. The Fantastics actually do some mat wrestling again each other. Long match for TV and all four teams stuck around for most of it. Thought it was good but it did seem to lose some steam once the Bodies were eliminated.

[1992-08-08-SMW-TV] Down and Dirty: Bob Armstrong
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in August 1992
Dutch's delivery was great here. He plays up his journalist side by asking questions in a provoking manner but repeatedly trying to say this is what the fans were wondering. Armstrong takes it is stride, answers the questions and then goes on a rant against WCW. SMW will visit all the small towns, tickets will be affordable and you don't have to pay $30 to watch the show on your televion.- 11 replies

Fifi was biting Lawler at some point. She was "biting" him really high on the inner thigh. This is more of straight tag match than the tornado rules matches we have seen earlier. One thing I noticed about the Moondogs when they do their miscommunication spots is once they hit their own guy they kind of just walk away and not try to break up the pinfall. Fifi gets her hair cut and starts chair swinging at everyone after. She has Lawler in the corner and is hitting him but he seems to be shrugging them off more than anything.

I missed the pre show battle royal as at the bar drinking. Coming in on the train there was a lot of Cena shirts with a few Punk shirts here and there. But that was it as far as shirts. Some dude was dressed completely in Boss Man outfit. Complete with shades and buzz cut. I was impressed and probably one of my favorite moments of the show. I was pretty shitfaced overall going in. Had a lot of fun watching the show live. Rhodes and Miz seemed to be moving really slow placed. Lots of comments about how Cara was not botching any moves. Crowd was behind Rhodes. Bryan got a big response from the crowd. Everyone was big behind the Yes chants. He really is over with the live audience. Loads of Yes chants. I really enjoyed myself during this match. I tuned out for the Divas match and the Orton match to get a beer fefill. Punk/Cena was a lot of fun live to watch. Felt like most of the crowd was on Punk's side but Cena definately had his fans also. I had no idea why Heyman was out there but it was cool to see him on Punk's side. Really good match to watch Didn't have the big crowd atmosphere I was expecting but I enjoyed it.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
Going to Night of the Champions tonight in person. I haven't been to a wrestling show since 2005. I don't even watch WWE TV. I'll catch most of the PPV's on delay but that's usually it for my WWE viewing. Don't even know the card outside of Punk/Cena (which should be interesting as far as a crowd perspective). So I'm going in blind for the most party but hopefully it's a good show. My seats are pretty good too. -
Cool visual at first but the match itself was pretty awful. Referees sure have a lot of guts to be out there. There is a lot of teasing about putting each other into the fire but match went way too long. The small package pinfall didn't really fit the match either.

Good work of showing off the barbwire even if it was only demonstrated on a tomato. They should have tried cutting through Stan's toupee. -
[1992-08-01-USWA-TV] Jerry Lawler & Jeff Jarrett vs The Moondogs

This feud is still going. Lee finally gets his head shaved. His hat and hair extensions looked more convincing than Stan Lane's. -
Taz was sporting John Tenta's Shark face paint. This was pretty funny seeing Taz like this.

Calo was doing some dancing. Match didn't have the dives I was expecting. Rey completely misses his moonsault from the top rope to the outside landing on the floor. That looked painful.

[1992-07-31-AJPW-Summer Action Series] Stan Hansen vs Akira Taue
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in July 1992
Felt this was as good as the Hansen/Misawa matches though it lacked the drama. Taue has still got a way to go though in the ring but thought Hansen gave him enough. Never really felt Taue had a legit chance of winning though.- 10 replies

[1992-07-12-WCW-Great American Bash] Big Van Vader vs Sting
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in July 1992
Yeah, this stuck out for me with all the talk about the rules on why Vader as the challenger is climbing to the top rope. Match as a whole is very good though. Vader wins relatively clean with the powerbomb which surprises me with him being heel.- 20 replies
