  1. Jim Cornette has something to say to the Rock & Roll Express. Christmas Chaos will be their last chance to win the tag titles. Jim doesn’t like the idea that The Gangstas could be the ones to get rid of the Express. Cornette wants to be the one to finally get the rid of them someday. So he is offering his services to help them win the tag titles. Cornette’s cheating will be the difference. Express agree to let Cornette manage them but Ricky has a warning if Jim messes around. Cactus will team with Brian Lee against Boo Bradly and Chris Candido. Cactus gives a charming little promo that rhymes. No disclaimer for the Gangstas. New Jack don’t need Cornette. He reminds us again that this will be the last chance for Rock & Roll Express. Jim Ross wants to verify if this isn’t some kind of double cross in the making but New Jack denies this. New Jack was very mellow.
  2. Good TV match. Bowden interferes before three count. Rich and Gilbert try to hang JC Ice. They should have kept the camera angle zoomed out before you could see his foot on the ground. Bill Dundee hits the ring to help. This followed up by a bunch of other wrestlers getting involved.
  3. Moral decay is up since Mr. Backlund has lost the title. Great crazy Backlund promo with him sitting in a chair and looking above the camera. I like how intense he is almost twisting the arms off the chair. Diesel wants to know where Bob Backlund got his bowtie. Diesel with his old television and movie references. Very new generation there. They have a slop graphic for Henry Godwinn’s name. Godwinn’s hogs are no different than the WWF audience.
  4. Great Nita gets his back really messed up with a Sickle stabbed into it. He uses red mist to get out of it. There is a massive fireball attempt that doesn’t hit, for the better. They light a thick barbwired baseball on fire. The ring mat starts to flame up too and the referee needs to stamp it out while avoiding the various madness going on. A mess of a match but but was something to watch.
  5. Turn the lights on please. Misteiro is so fluid in the ring and Guerrera is able to keep up the pace. Juventud hits a bunch of suplexes including a catapult back suplex using the ropes. Just folded up Misterio. Less mat work and more high impact moves. Crazy dive by Misterio through the ropes on to Juventud who is lying the floor. How's the back feel? Guerrera hits his own drive and someone tries to shove a mic in his face for a comment. Was that Ray Rougeau? It’s dark but the dives appear to be hit very cleanly. The seconds get involved at the end and Misterio wins the deciding fall by disqualification. Not the ideal finish but great match between these two which they seem to do quite well.
  6. They aren’t using a scoring system. They tease an Albright suplex early but then go to the mat and stay there for pretty much the rest of the match outside of one suplex being hit. At least with the scoring system there is the rope breaks that result in stand ups. Albright wins with an arm breaker. He wants Vader! This match was dull as I prefer these two to be standing more.
  7. Kakihara very aggressive to start and scores two very quick knockdowns to get a big points advantage. Yamazaki takes it to mat in response. Chokehold is worked more like a chinlock than a move someone can lose conciousness on. Yamazaki finally connects on his own kicks. Was waiting for that as seemed to have success with them in tag match. Not sure if you allowed to be kicking someone when they are down but both guys do this in match. Finish is very pro wrestling like with the two german suplexes and then cross armbar for submission.
  8. Enjoyed this one as was some great stiff strikes. Tenryu’s chops ring out loud. The plus of not having commentary talking over them. Kitahara lays his own kicks that damange Tenryu. Tenryu gets in well aimed knee to the groin. At one point Kitahara gets Tenryu down in the corner and Tenryu rises with a right to the side of his face. Finishing clothesline got him nice and good in the throat.
  9. Diesel out for interview showing off his newly won WWF Title. Camera angle to try get over how tall Diesel is. Diesel has words for Michaels and talks about the happenings of Survivor Series. Diesel wants to be a fighting champion like Bret Hart. He is being respectful towards Bret and and says Hart can challenge him anytime for the WWF title. Long live the new generation!
  10. The odds are heavily stacked against Mr. Backlund as this match will be pinfall only with no time limit or disqualifications. No submissions either. Rough stipulations to put on Backlund as the new champion. They really stacked the deck against him for no reason. Not like he had a prior history leading up to that. Long stall before Diesel's entrance. Bell rings, kick to stomach, Jacknife, new champ. So much for Mr. Backlund. Diesel does a very Hogan like celebration. I feel sad for Bob as he was really entertaining in yearbook up to this point.
  11. Ghetto street fight where Gangstas have brought a bunch of weapons already. This fill up the ring before the match. Ricky uses a shovel on New Jack. There is a toilet seat out there. New Jack doesn’t use the weapons as much as you think he would. Express use the weapons more including hanging Mustafa with a rope. Gangstas get the victory with the help of D-Lo on the outside. Standard brawl.
  12. Race is ringide in Austin's corner. Austin with the jawbreaker. A couple inches to the right Steve to hit the Stunner. Duggan hits a couple shoulder tackles and stupidly runs in the direction where Harley is holding down the ropes. Vader runs down but Duggan has the 2X4. Sting is there to help too. Duggan was a lousy choice to be U.S. champion. They needed someone like Austin to balance things out somewhat with Hogan as the WCW champ.
  13. New Jacks gets the full pat down by Mark Curtis. Biased referring there. Make shift team of Lance Storm and Brian Lee who has the fake Taker look. Seems like they didn't know what to do with Storm after Jericho got hurt. Storm takes a beating for most of the match before making a tag to Lee. Candido runs down and hits Lee with a metal trash can. Gangstas get the victory. Candido tries hiding under the ring but Cactus waits him out and nails him when he pops out.
  14. Some AJPW fan cam. Misawa hits forearms shots and Kawada responds with a turnbuckle repeated head smash on Misawa? That seems bizarre for AJPW. We go right into official video for match which is nice. Good action throughout. Very close kickout by Taue on Kobash's powerbomb. Really picks up towards the end. Kawada taking it to Misawa with the backdrops but the 30 minute time limit runs out. Pretty good match but the draw felt expected.
  15. Jim Cornette with the Gangstas as he wants to hear from them. Jim thinks the Gangstas have come the closest to get riding of the Rock & Roll Express for good. The Gangstas have unlimited ability but that they need the proper management. Cornette can teach them a thing or two. He offers them his services. New Jack don’t need Cornette. He has a college education and a criminal record. Boo likes Cactus Jack. Tammy lets him know that Cactus tried to kick Boots the Cat. Boo gets mad at this news. Cactus didn't come to SMW to win any titles. He is here to save Boo’s soul.
  16. Lawler with a challenge to Sid to put the Unified Title on the line. Lawler thinks Sid does not rule the world. Spellbinder is not the real challenger to the title but just Sid’s friend. Sid is ducking Lawler.
  17. It's a glorious day for the WWF title to be in the rightful owner of Mr. Backlund. Great crazy Bob promo. Diesel cannot beat Mr. Backlund. Uh oh. Good guy Diesel promo making references to cars that a good portion of the audience won't get. Backlund is a throw back. Diesel goes all USA on us. He will be the next WWF champion. I never realized at the time they were going to make Diesel the champion so soon. Guess it just happened so fast to consider. Henry Godwinn promo from Arkansas. Video of pigs. Once he gets to the WWF, he will be in hog heaven.
  18. Chuck Norris is the perfect special enforcer. Though I would have loved seeing Jeff Speakman out there also. Bundy and Bigelow show up at ringside but they don’t have the guts to challenge Norris. They are really only providing a distraction as I.R.S. sneaks up in the ring to attack Undertaker which leads to the awful Corporation feud. Undertaker comes back and Yokozuna’s only hope at this point is Jeff Jarrett! Yikes, the weakest person from the Royal Rumble set up. I see Danny Davis is still a referee at this point. Should have called Tenryu to back you up again. Yoko disappears for a few months.
  19. The Sharpshooter versus the Chicken Wing. Submission match where the second must throw in the towel for the man they represent. Owen has said he will not throw towel in whatsoever. Stu and Helen have some nice ringside seats. Backlund works over Bret’s left arm/shoulder. They keep putting over how Foreman won the boxing title at the same age as Backlund. First big submission is figure four by Bret. Owen doesn’t even bother to hold the towel in his hand. He’s not throwing it in. Bunch of Cross Face Chicken Wing attempts which gets the crowd going similar to Steve Williams’s Backdrops driver attempts in Japan. Bret gets the sharpshooter on but Owen completely outsmarts Davey Boy who runs himself into the steel steps for the knockout. Backlund gets on the Chickenwing. Stage set for Owen’s fantastic acting. He is a mess at the sight of Davey Boy unconscious and his brother in the painful Chicken Wing. Owen pleads to his parents to do something about this. He’s in tears. That’s my brother! Helen and Stu just walk over Davey Boy’s body to get near the ring. Owen is begging them to throw in the towel. Stu isn’t complete buying this act but Helen is devasted. Finally Helen grabs the towel and throws it in. Owen grabs the towel and runs out of the ring in full joy. The crowd is legitimately shocked at this outcome. Mr. Backlund has great facials after winning the title. In a way this was opposite of the Royal Rumble tag match where they went too quick to the decision that Bret couldn’t continue. Here he spends ten minutes in the chicken wing which is way too long but Owen completely carried things to the finish. He may not be the greatest promo guy but stuff like this was where he could really excel. Mr. Bob Backlund, leader of the new generation. Owen promo where he laughs at his parents and calls Bret a loser.
  20. In action where Diesel takes out both 123 Kid and Sionne with the Jacknife. He had taken out Fatu earlier also. Davey Boy gets counted out trying to fight off both Owen and Jarrett. Razor is the sole survivor remaining against the full five members of the Teamsters. Diesel hits the Jacknife on Razor but Shawn wants the tag to finish him off. I think this was Michaels only moment in match for getting in ring. Diesel holds up Razor and again Michaels hits Diesel by mistake with the superkick. Well Diesel has had enough with this and turns face. The whole team ends up getting counted trying to make amends. Doesn’t make sense that you could count the whole team out. WWF getting ready to fun on Diesel power.
  21. So this is only the semifinals when I looked up the card after. Was this show really over 10 hours along? That must have been something to sit through. Ways to go for the winner still with Finals match. Couple times now in this tourney where wrestler has got someone up on their shoulders and then had to drop to redo the move. Love the spinning back fist blow by Kong. Kansai makes a nine count but Kong keeps hitting her and gets the pinfall. I’m curious how this whole was received by Joshi fans. It just seems like a huge challenge to put on a show so large in scale.
  22. Men’s six man tag. Sato/Dick Togo grew his hair back real fast. Well I was getting a kick out of the comedy myself. They probably provided a nice break on a show with so many matches. Sato is so nimble. Shinzaki even provides his own little spots. Delphin really works over Shiryu’s groin while he is in the tree of woe. The arm wringer spot is so ridiculous but I can’t help laughing at it. Ha, Naniwa runs down the ramp and trips over. Not great but it was a fun match that I enjoyed.
  23. Giant swing on the ramp. Well that was different. If she lost balance could have had a nasty spill. With the tournament they are working through the match faster compared to other stuff I’ve seen from yearbook. Nice finish that didn’t have the reverse move finish seen too much with Mysterio. First time I have seen the Crucifix Bomb hit off the top. Felt similar to the last match in that it was good but they are conserving a bit with it being a tournament. I also find myself appreciating Joshi tag matches a lot more than singles.
  24. Toyota does come ever so close to missing some of those moves where she uses the top rope to spring off. Kong does one of those silly long ramp running moves. A Japanese table actually breaks! Helps to have Kong going through it I suppose. Brainbuster by Kong to win. Good match but when your saving yourself for a tournament there will be some drop off.
  25. My only experience with this show was the clip of the Women’s title change on WWF TV. I’ve heard it was an insanly long show with tons of matches. Hotta and Toyoda do a lot of chatter back and forth while in a submission move. Hotta botches spinning heel kick really bad off the top rope. She goes up and does same move again. Ugh, why bother. Hotta gets all annoyed at the referee and pushes him down. She ends up getting suplexed and pinned. After the match, she tries to beat up the referee. This was just okay but not close to five stars.
