Triple H just announced that the Ultimate Warrior passed away
victory replied to flyonthewall2983's topic in Pro Wrestling
Watching ABC's America This Morning and on the scroll it states WWE Legend James Hellwig " The Ultimate WRESTLER" dies at age 54. Seriously can't these guys do at least a quick Google search to get a name right? I'm still so shocked and saddened at another childhood hero gone. -

Wow I'm totally shocked! One of my all time favorites. Obviously its easy to second guess now, but I did notice him limping when his daughters were walking him to the podium on Saturday and then he did seem kind of red as well. Then you had all that sweating. R.I.P. Warrior I feel so bad for his family. -
I have zero interest in watching a promotion that Jarrett is associated with. It boils down to no confidence in him. Plus that name is awful. It sounds like an old 90's Coliseum video title.

Taker vs. HBK from Mania 25. The botches annoy the hell out of me from a match that got so much hype. That fucked up figure four leg lock Michaels puts on Taker is brutal. My twins could do a better Gates of Hell hold than the one Taker applies. Then you have the messed up DDT. I will admit I didn't watch it live and watched it after all the hype, so maybe I would feel different if I had seen it in a live setting.

That's good news. I've been trying to watch the Mania 3 rewind for the last few days and no such luck. I'll give it a shot in the next few days.

Yeah I guess I was looking at it more as a tourney then a gauntlet. Damn, 19 matches for Valentine would of been insane.

I've heard of this show, just never have seen it. Some quick observations. The entries seem so random. Bellomo was second to last in coming out. Why? I take it there was no bracket system prior to the show. Patera wrestled 7 times and didn't even make it to the finals. Rocky comes out last and is the finals for no rhyme or reason apparently. I would guess this was some sort of an experiment that didn't work. Definitely an interesting concept. It might of worked with fewer wrestlers and no jobbers.

Yeah I remember seeing that a year or ago. Inspiring, hilarity and insanity all at the same time. With all the crappy reality shows I was hoping some station would pick it up. Maybe it was all the swearing that turned networks off.

How is the Network going to affect WWE Home Video?
victory replied to flyonthewall2983's topic in Pro Wrestling
Hey Blazer, not sure where you live in the Chicagoland area, but I checked out the FYE by my house at Chicago Ridge Mall today. They still had quite a few of the Anthology sets for $10. I only picked up the Summer Slam volume 2 anthology as I had the other big four volume 1 sets already. Was hoping they had the Royal Rumble volume 2, but they only had volume 1. They have a ton of other older stuff brand new for under $10. Cool. I'm on the NW Side of Chicago, so I don't get down to Chicago Ridge often, but I'll try to make an effort to get down there or maybe to one of their other stores. Did they have Vol 3 and 4 of Mania? Sounds like they still had Vol 1 of RR and SS. Did you see a Vol 2 for Survivor Series? I received your pm, I sent you one back. -
I think certain guys it helps especially with the lack of managers. I hated it for a long time, now I kind of see the need for it since not everybody can talk. An obvious scripted promo is better in some case than a bland awkward one.

No. Some company called JADAT Sports owns it. They released a DVD a year or so again with a real lackluster effort. Not recommended unless you're a big SWCW fan. I saw that another DVD is being released soon if not already. I'm not very hyped after that last release.

Is WWC currently doing anything with their library? I honestly have no idea. So this is just a guess. Maybe they just figure let the WWE buy it and use it since they have no intentions or the proper resources to do anything with it. Plus they get a nice check and some recognition for Carlos from the HOF out of the deal.

Another cool one would be Houston. A couple of years ago R. Bruce Tharpe posted on KM that all the Houston shows exist from the 70's on up. He sounded like some sort of deal was going to happen, but I never heard another word about it.

I honestly wouldn't mind them buying Glow. Despite the wrestling be bad and the skits being cheesy it can be a fun watch in small doses.

Didn't Rhyno also spell his name Rhino in ECW? I would assume he can only use the latter spelling.

Yeah I remember looking all over for that one here in Chicago as well. I eventually bought it online from Deep Discount DVD for a cheaper price which I guess made up for all the gas I wasted. I still love the structure to that DVD where they focused on six of his top feuds. Shame they got away from that format. -

Yes. I just looked it up. The one with the documentary ( The Definitive Collection) came out that year. -
Casual fans still exist, there just isn't as many as years ago it seems. Just because info is easier to access doesn't mean everybody has a desire to learn or know insider or history info. So they still exist, especially parents of kids like has been mentioned. I have a friend who brings his kids when I go with mine and he could care less about wrestling news sites.

Rumored tag team partner of Saba Simba that didn't happen.

Ugliest mofo to ever get pushed as a "BJ" wrestler AND get over

Bruce Hart in Badd Company days with Brian Pillman. I'm sure the girls were running the other way if they got stuck with Bruce as a consolation prize over Pillman. -
Memphis Wrestling History:Tennessee Record Book 1980-89
victory replied to goc's topic in Pro Wrestling
Mark James I would say is a Memphis Wrestling historian for lack of a better word. He has an awesome Memphis wrestling website http://memphiswrestlinghistory.com/ He has quite a few books and has been posting on the KM board for years. Seems like a good guy. -
Johnny B Badd / Marc Mero... Time to Revisit his Career
victory replied to goodhelmet's topic in The Microscope
I always hated his gimmick. His work on the other hand I always thought was decent, sometimes I just couldn't get past the gimmick to enjoy his matches as much as I should. I actually had high hopes for the Wildman gimmick. It just didn't click for some reason. This is an interesting microscope, I'm going to have to revisit some of these matches. -
I tortured myself with watching that as well last week. That cage concept just doesn't work.
