  1. Baba has never interest me. Although, Kobashi did bring a lot out of him. In fact, I thought Kobashi was outstanding in this. I never thought of Misawa's performance being cruise control but that's a good explanation as he essentially adds nothing to the match in my book. I was bored for parts of this mainly the Baba-Misawa exchanges but the finishing run was great as is most AJ matches during this time period. Very good match overall and yes Baba's facial expression off of the Misawa forearm was one of the greatest things ever.
  2. Ha, there's a derivative gimmick in my own backyard. Former SMW and WCW jobber Paul Lee runs a promotion in the town I went to high school. He's the most blatant Ric Flair derivation I've ever seen. It isn't even close.
  3. He has a match with Terry Funk on the SNME DVD that I liked a good bit. I can't recall the date though (1/4/86?). I'm confident he has a good match with Race as well during that time period. He has a very good tag match teaming with Buddy Rose in NJ. I think they face Yatsu and Fujinami. That's on Will's Rose comp. I haven't seen any AWA Hogan with the exception of one Bock match that is on his DVD. I like Hogan-Warrior a good bit and Hogan-Savage but the finish to the latter is pretty shitty. Obviously the Bossman Cage matches. I feel like I've seen one of his Orndorff matches but I can't recall the quality. I believe I saw War to Settle the Score years ago but my memory is bad today. The Brock match is pretty memorable for it's disturbing visuals and I thought it was very good. I don't know what the consensus is on that. This is all very vague but it's off the top of my head. I'll look into this a little further maybe sometime later.
  4. Those Edge tags aren't good at all really. I'd have to go back and watch them but from what I remember they're not very good.
  5. I liked this a good bit. However, it is bizarre that M-Pro ignores its comedy routine in singles matches altogether. Togo is great in this and his offense is incredible. Delphin did a good job of selling the beating he took and his comebacks were nice. It just seemed out of place for a M-Pro match to lack comedy whatsoever.
  6. Bull Nakano rules! Her control segment on Toyota was a sight to fucking see. Those holds looked unbearable at times. The nunchucks being used was a creative way to try and dispose of Aja. This was a really good tag with Bull kicking ass on offense and selling her back well even at the finish.
  7. I hate to agree totally with Loss here but that's what I'm going to do. I found the finishing run to be tremendously great actually. Hasegawa is outstanding at baby face sympathy selling. It's really remarkable if you think about it. There were times in this I just lost interest because Hasegawa didn't need to be having five to ten minute control segments. Overall, this was very good with an excellent finish. I believe it could have been a classic if it was just Yamada obliterating Hasegawa with hope spots in between control segments.
  8. The crowd loves this before the bell. Tenryu and Onita are not friends. Onita gets bloodied but Goto breaks a pin attempt and Tenryu isn't happy and takes out Goto for a minute. That was a mistake and Tenryu gets DDTed on his head a few times and tags in Hara. Goto is mad at Tenryu for attacking him earlier so he bloodies him with a chair. Hara gets destroyed and injures his ribs so Tenryu has to wrestle the match by himself. Unfortunately, he's bloody also. He gets destroyed but comes back and locks in a submission. Hara hangs on to Goto's leg in a great moment to try to prevent him from breaking Tenryu's hold on Onita. Hara finally gets kicked off Goto. The finish is botched a little but it still delivered okay. This was a tremendous match with the WAR guys out of their element a little bit dealing with those lunatics from FMW.
  9. This was too long. I am generally fine with spot fest like this but it clearly needed structure. Sasuke put the ultimate buzzkill on a tremendous dive sequence. That pissed me off. This was pretty good and had some fun spots with a solid ending but definitely had its setbacks.

Bret Hart vs. Tom Pritchard (RAW 2/21/94) February wasn't a great month in the ring. Although, it was still pretty solid. I understand it gets ridiculously great starting in March.
  11. I'm a HUGE fan of the Dustin-Stud Stable feud and it might be my favorite feud ever. I wasn't even two years old through most of 1994. That's another major reason that I wanted this. I'll probably one day try and get the other yearbooks as well. I picked 1994 because WCW was so great and it looked like the best yearbook on paper to me.
  12. This is really a novelty more than anything else. Not a great match by any means. But it's important because this is the only time Steamboat really shows hatred. And yes, Harley involved himself way too much in this for my liking.
  13. I'm not surprised by this at all to be honest. Terry almost always delivers in these kind of settings. I agree this is for sure one of Sabu's best matches ever. Terry is just so goddamn great in this.
  14. This is bizarre. It's a decent promo by Shawn but it's just odd.
  15. Murdoch is called in to SMW to protect Jimmy. Great fun here.
  16. This is funny as fuck. Holy shit this is great! I'm right with Loss here, I'm extremely elated that this exists.
  17. This is actually a solid promo by Shawn here. It really hypes the ladder match well.
  18. I thought Hasegawa was great in this. Yamada didn't really impress me in this as much. Aja does pretty well in the fast paced style. I probably like this more than others but it didn't blow me away.
  19. Cena for a lot of reasons. I'm on the side of Hogan being underrated too. However, Hogan-Savage, Hogan-Bockwinkel, Hogan-Warrior, and Hogan-Orndorff don't match up that great with Cena-Umaga, Cena-Michaels, Cena-Punk, or Cena-Lesnar. If one wants to look at attributes Cena wins that as well. Cena has had many superb selling performances and can bump much better. Cena pretty clearly for me.
  20. Now this is a mat classic with phenomenal pacing and terrific performances from both individuals. Right now this is the best lucha match for sure and possible the best match so far. It's close with Hash-Liger. But man this was such a great lucha match.
  21. Wow, this was really fucking good. The Heavyweight vs. the Junior. It worked out perfectly. Liger's struggles and eventual success of executing his offense was really great. I loved how he gets more and more winded after each move. Before that though, he must target Hash's leg because everyone knows to take the bigger man down you've got to go after the leg. Hash is great here too. He works on Liger's arm early on and weathers the smaller mans offensive attack. The combination of kicks and the brainbuster is a defiant finish to an excellent match. This ruled big time.
  22. This was an average match. Savage was amusing on commentary and Owen's appearance was solid. Not a great segment overall though.
  23. This is a great, great mat underrated mat classic. The pacing and match structure is perfect and I was invested the entire time. The arm work was tremendous by Arn. They both really played off the exhaustion of going nearly 30 minutes and the effectiveness of strong mat work. I liked the finish as well as it teased a draw and Arn winning but Regal slipped away with the cheap win in the end. This is easily the best WCW match of 94 so far.
