What an absolutely incredible match. We can throw out platitudes, but what television matches are in the same stratosphere? Definitely feels like an all-timer in that department. I also think this is among the most audible matches ever. Listening to those chops and the stiff offense in a studio setting was just incredible. Not sure how many other matches where you could rely on the audio that strongly.
Just watched, and I had absolutely forgotten how much I love this show. Mil-Ivelisse is completely preposterous, but they put it that match together so smartly that it worked in this world. Really incredible how this feels like a TV show with wrestling matches rather than a wrestling show. Cannot wait for next week.
Some people can suspend their disbelief in a male vs female match. Others can't. LU generally makes it something I don't find preposterous job training context of their world, but haven't seen the mil/ivelisse match yet so can't comment.
Haven't watched yet but am looking forward to getting to it over the weekend. With taped shows I somehow don't mind waiting a bit to do without commercials.
Definitely looking forward to some murders though. I suppose that's the price we pay for El Rey & co's backing. But at least they draw the line on sexual assault. Actually, would Catrina's gimmick cross that line? Or are we assuming her vics are simply overcome by her powers of persuasion and consenting?
I actually think their DVDs are quite easy to sit through. They skip the intros because of music copyright issues so it jumps from match to match. While the live shows are probably a blast due to the atmosphere and vibe (and beer), if I ever don't watch a show in full its because of time constraints rather than any issues with the product.
Completely agree. If you dig PWG you should enjoy all of BOLA. If its not for you then none of it is very appealing. But the disparity is not night and day.
Try a couple shows, see if you like it. I don't think you can go wrong with any from the last couple years. If you dig one you should dig them all. I think they're great fun. Wouldn't want it to be the only wrestling I watch 365 days a year but its more than a fun part of the mix. That being said, they also put on some truly standout showcase spotfests if you dig it that can't be beat. Add a rabid crowd and its tough not to enjoy.
Likely in the minority here but not looking forward to Rey's involvement. Part of what gave this its charm was that just about everyone felt fresh, literally like another universe.
None whatsoever. He's clearly below the AJ Big 3 for me. But will also likely end up ahead of Taue. The thought was more reflective of my thinking on him than others. Haven't gone back to much Jumbo in a while, which is something I plan on doing. Possible he'll slip out of my top 10 but he's right in that mix. He's just likely out of the top 5.
Misawa, Kawada, Kobashi, Flair, Danielson. Those are the only names I'd put above Taue without having to think about it. While I don't expect him to come in at #6, its looking like 12-15 may be the absolute floor.
Would they turn Reigns heel here? Don't understand having a babyface disappear for this long.
Edit -- nevermind, not like there's a face on the roster he could be paired with anyways.
