That was absolutely atrocious. Despite Corbin being the most overpushed and perhaps useless character on the roster, TV heading into this PPV did as good a job building babyface Roman as any recently had. Then this. Way to vomit up all the goodwill the show earned in the first ~90 minutes.

The one thing I cannot and will not ever agree with. Every single thing he does makes me reach for the remote.

Did not see Aleister Black being reprogrammed as Bebop.

On paper the show doesn't look like anything out of this world and the build has hardly been one of their best. But for whatever reason that's usually when the company over-delivers, so I'm cautiously looking forward to the show. Humberto/Andrade a solid opener and better than most pre-show fare, but I'm concerned about Andrade minus Vega. We're getting close to the point, if not already at it, here he's pigeonholed as a pre-show guy.

Perhaps its a case of letting my expectations get out of hand, but on paper this looks more like a New Beginning double shot or maybe even a Dominion doubleheader. The bottom half of both shows look like filler that you could find on any PPV. I'm sure I'll be into it when it happens but the Sano tag also feels like a wild letdown after anticipating Liger's retirement match for so long.

Haha fair point about Impact, but by the same token for the right price I'd buy it too.

Without knowing how much he paid I don't see any basis for calling Corgan dumb or a money mark. It also hardly seems a stretch to say that a promotion with any other name would not have had the same buzz. The letters NWA were the biggest asset from day 1 and provided a launch point from which they could try to build something.

Would you be watching if the name of the promotion was something other than NWA?

These are all fair points. The best Janela I've seen (heard) was when he appeared on Austin's podcast. He's clearly a wrestling fan who eats, sleeps and breathes the business. I just don't like to see him actually wrestle.

Until last night the entire Lashley/Ruseve feud had been fast forward material. Then Lana came out in that dress. My god. Charlotte vs. Kabuki Warriors was shockingly pretty great. I had zero confidence in their ability to lay out an interesting handicap match. Not only did they do that, but they avoided any outside shenanigans and worked a clean finish to presumably build to a PPV match. Best TV match in some time.

I'm still waiting for Joey Janela to click. Right now he's one of the few acts in AEW that on a Wednesday night will immediately see me flip to NXT or a basketball game.

Perhaps this is among the key reasons the match didn't work for me, but Dominick was never established as any kind of threat or asset in the ring. His presence if anything seemed to make Rey more vulnerable as at that point he needed to protect his untrained kid from getting murdered again. Probably the worst match of Brock's run in my eyes, and that's including a triple threat with Kane & Braun at MSG.

A bit disappointed that there was essentially zero follow up to Lee's Survivor Series. Much too soon to dismiss it as already gone & forgotten, but would've liked to see more of a featured direction for him this week.

Yes, but the son offers nothing and the father hasn't done much in some time. Yeah, those two weeks were probably the best Rey has looked on this run. I'm in the minority on Brock as I almost always look forward to his matches and find most of them fun at worst, but this one didn't even connect with me.

I believe just the women.

Not only that, but Lee sold it and the ensuing cover so well that I thought he had it won. The kickout popped me off the couch. Lee should've won it but the way he lost really shouldn't hurt him at all. Hopefully more to come here.
