    Fatu is very much that guy. But it feels like Roman/Solo is being slow cooked for Mania so Jacob is going to have a while for his turn.

    I loved this and thought the mat work and way they attacked and fought for holds was incredible stuff that would look next level today. It feels state of the art for the style but I just can't think of it as an all time classic pro wrestling match as while it was an incredibly compelling display of technique, the lack of escalation and drama along the way holds it back. ****1/4

    Bryan Danielson is the absolute GOAT. Its an arms race with him vs. Ospreay for Most Outstanding this year and I look forward to them continuing to try and top each other. That was an unbelievable match and Page is on the short list of Dragon's best ever opponents.

    This has been a really good show. Both MITB matches hit, and most importantly, didn't overstay their welcome. Sami/Bron had a shockingly clean finish in a most unexpected direction, and Drew/Priest extended the company's hottest program without undermining the Summerslam world title match. Good stuff all around! I'd love to know how they smuggled Fatu into Canada given his prior issues. Plus, Cena's promo hit me way too hard. Not cool.

    That was one hell of a show. Willow/Stat didn't click for me the way it seemingly did for others but was hardly good for others. Danielson/Pac and Ospreay/Garcia were tremendous and I enjoyed the closing angle and Britt/Sasha as well. I would've bet on Page/Jarrett going 1-2 minutes and needing to be a being a total MDK situation but was happy to be wrong. That was a great match and they established Page's new heel character without working a squash. Tremendous tv.

    While not as strong as Survivor Series, I thought this was a really strong match. Shawn is very clearly the Sid whisperer. Solid shine, nice bumps to set up extended heat, a great, extended hope spot that's cut off with a nasty powerbomb on the floor. The finish calling back to Survivor Series was also really well done. Big fan of this series. ***3/4

    MJF/Hechicero was fine but a far, far cry from the Sabre match last weekend.

    I think he's actually opened quite a few PPVs. Wardlow, the Cole tag title match at All In, Darby. Perhaps another 1 or 2.

    On the other hand, if he owns the proper IP is he really out of line defending his assets? Jordynne Grace can CTC if its that important to her to stay in his lane.

    Absolutely loved. Likely my minis MOTD and one of the best lucha outings overall as well. This was the type of active, engaging mat work I can get behind.

    It took all of one night for Jacob Fatu to eclipse Solo as the proper lead on that side of the ledger. I don't think it happens given his age and history, but that guy is pure fire. Fingers crossed they don't slow roll Roman's return until Mania.

    So how do folks see the Owen playing out? Page returning as the wild card to destroy Owen's friend Jarrett en route to a strong heel run through Danielson and a third match with Strickland certainly seems plausible. Short of that it feels like Danielson has to win. But if he does is really challenging Swerve? Dragon/Ospreay for the title would certainly work but would've been better if Dragon won the first match followed by the title and then Ospreay won the Owen. They've got options here but I'm curious how it plays out as I don't think there's any chance Ospreay wins the title at FD.

    Was the Gunther/Orton finish designed to build a rematch or just a botch that they're playing off of?

    I know they ran Inoki/Saito a few years earlier, but was bringing back this gimmick any kind of response to or prompted by Onita & FMW? Just seems like such an odd call in a vacuum.

    Perhaps I benefitted from having zero expectations unlike most of this crew's well heralded classics, but in the moment this even felt head and shoulders above the the 4/20 six man as my MOTY even with the lack of a decisive finish. Just incredible work throughout with Jumbo in particular delivering one of his nastiest performances ever. The early work on Kawada's gut is enough to make most matches great, but the back half with Jumbo/Taue just viciously trying to break Misawa's face was incredible. One of the easiest ***** I've marked down in some time.

    I know there's a thread for great matches under 10 minutes but at 4:50 this is one of the best sub 5 minutes matches I've seen. Phenomenal work, selling, fire and heat. Everyone crushed it. If there's such a thing as **** 5 minute match this is it.

    Is the sound off for anyone? It sounds like the commentary and crowd are significantly turned down.

    That's for the 6 wrestlers who haven't broken a sweat to figure out. I'm good here. I don't think I've ever gone into a match with expectations that high and the match actually destroyed all said expectations. Goddamn.

    So that had to be an angle with the way they let Ospreay get close and check on him and have the "doctors" sit him up, right?
