I can't believe that with Bushiroad's business going to shit in the last week, and needing SOMETHING to get some momentum back, the announced matches that are aimed to sell tickets for the next Sumo Hall show is this pitiful shit NJPW "DESTRUCTION IN RYOGOKU", 09.10.2023 Tokyo Ryogoku Kokugikan - 7 Match Series 7th: Yuji Nagata, Shota Umino & Master Wato vs. Minoru Suzuki, Ren Narita & El Desperado - STRONG Openweight Tag Team Title: Alex Coughlin & Gabe Kidd (c) vs. El Phantasmo & Hikuleo - NEVER Openweight Title: David Finlay (c) vs. Tama Tonga - IWGP World Heavyweight Title: SANADA (c) vs. "King of Darkness" EVIL

Oh man, Eddie against Hero with a whole stadium at his disposal? bah gawd.

Hausman's report on the whole thing is hilarious https://www.hausofwrestling.com/2023/08/14/more-on-christopher-daniels-others-not-at-aew-collision-exclusive/ This dude is too fucking old to be acting like this And The Elite continue to get all these stories out to repeat the same cycle: 1) there's a good feeling about something related to Punk. 2) Punk can't help himself and does something to stir the pot publicly (via interview, social media or AEW TV). 3) We get a number of new negative stories related to Punk. 4) Punk falls back. 5) Go back to 1). We've been waiting 11 months for that and it doesn't seem it will ever happen.

Kawada to be interviewed by Eddie Kingston
Jmare007 replied to The Thread Killer's topic in Pro Wrestling
That's awesome. Eddie was so fucking happy (and nervous) at their first meeting. Him getting to do this interview is gonna be a complete nerd out, lol. -
Just look how fucking happy (and nervous) Eddie is in his first meeting with Kawada.
-
Damn, people already forgot we got Punk/Joe IV a month ago, lol (well, technically that happened a long ass time ago but no one counts their non title and non-ROH matches).
-
Welp, MJF vs Cole for Wembley is official. Not the strongest segment but it got the job done, I guess.
-
Omega also reportedly was the only member of the Elite who was fine with Punk coming back or even doing business with him. Given how vastly different both reports are, I wouldn't believe either one.
-
I can feel the carnyness going through my veins. Wembley gonna have a ton of fun with this one.
-
Could care less about the Bucks or even Hangmayne, but AEW needed Kenny to stay so, good.
-
Yeah, they gotta ride MJF/Cole for as long as they can.
-
So, MJF/Cole vs FTR was the only thing being promoted with legit effort for Saturday's Collision and they faced very tough competition with Spence vs Crawford and the UFC card. And the audience showed up anyways And this Saturday they have to face Summerslam. Let's see if they can keep momentum.
-
Or maybe it's the selling point of All Out. Regardless, it should be the main title match for one of those PPVs. Shit, run another MJF/Cole tag match at Wembley and let 80k people go wild at their act, they are on fire right now. Last week I was complaining that it seemed Punk had dropped the "real champ" angle and that same Saturday he went right back at it Also love how Starks has gone right back to feeling like a main player in this feud with Punk.
-
Punk should intercede on behalf of Will Ospreay and block Jericho's carny ass from having that match. I understand that the politics and negotiations involved for a 3rd Omega vs Ospreay match in an AEW only show make it almost impossible for it to happen unless TK offers something crazy to New Japan (and they might just not want to give that matchup up regardless of what's offered). But I think an Ospreay/Takeshita vs Omega/Ibushi tag match would be a best case scenario for everyone involved and it would make more sense storyline wise that whatever the fuck this Jericho/Callis angle they are running with that no one gives a fuck about. Besides, if Jericho really does get his wish, does that mean he turns face and rejects Callis? The possibilities of that are so shitty I regret even typing that.
-
That's cool as fuck for Eddie, legit happy for dude.
-
Also, not doing anything with The (Golden) Elite this week feels like booking malpractice
-
TK doesn't start building to PPV until there's 3 weeks left. We know MJF vs Cole will be 1 match, and Khan basically uses that as the main program while the rest of the card will fill up the closer they get to the show. Wouldn't shock of a third of All Out's card is announced at All In tbh
-
Agreed. The spot were they had to get a doctor was weird as hell. Its my only "gripe" with the match too.
-
MJF/Cole vs FTR for the tag belts is on July 29th. All In is on August 27th. All Out is on September 3rd.
-
I'm also on the camp of keeping Cole/MJF together for longer. The angle Is clearly working and breaking them up for a title match that fans want to see less than them working as a tag would be a shitty idea. But then again, we all know how stubborn Tony Is when booking so if the original plan was Cole vs MJF for September, it will be hard for him to change course. Also, who else do they have to challenge Max in such short notice? Punk seems to have dropped the "I was never defeated as a champ" angle, Darby Is going for the TNT belt, Starks seems to be going heel. Omega is the only one I can come up with. @Matt D 's idea works in theory but a Kenny/Hangman pairing going for the tag belts with 3 weeks of build sounds completely out of nowhere. And why would Cole get a title shot he doesn't want? Because Max wants an easy PPV match? Even still, that whole scenario leads to them breakimg up anyway, which people wont like.
-
Fucking hell Sanada sucks. Him holding the strap till WK is not justifiable.
-
But he didn't do anything to Kenny besides putting him in a submission for like 30 seconds. It didn't feel like PAC would've been satisfied or got enough revenge on Omega for him to just bail on the match after a couple of very forced and silly clashes with Claudio.
-
Ibushi looked and worked well during this year's Bloodsport. Last night he couldn't even make his kicks look like they were worth a damn. I hope it was more of setting thing and that he can be a special performer in a normal tag with Kenny or single matches. I'd like to believe it was an off night (plus ring rust) than him boring washed.

First of all, I hate that War Games matches have become this long epic cage match when that shit is supposed to be 20-25 minutes of pure hatred and intensity. 50 fucking minutes is indefensible. I think the ending "worked" in the mind of those 10 guys as it was basically the "true friendship" of the Golden Elite coming on top while the two hired guns of the BCC bailed and basically ended the match. But in execution that whole thing sucked ass. And this is basically me using head cannon because during the match it wasn't very palpable (the only thing was PAC and Claudio clashing and barking at each other a couple of times for no real reason) and commentary never even attempted to make it a thing. Hugely disappointed by that match. And Ibushi being an afterthought hurt, I was expecting so much more and dude did literally nothing of note. Yuta was more of an X factor than him. I think Danielson could've made portions of the match better because he can convey hatred and intensity better than anyone on that ring tonight, and only Takeshita leaving could've worked better than 2 guys leaving the BCC and telegraphing the ending. But I honestly don't think it would've made THAT much of a difference.
-
Yeah, like I said last week it's not the ideal angle for your world champ, but at the same time, it's much better than what we've gotten from MJF this whole year so I'll take this storyline with Cole without any complaints. It does, but when you have a batshit insane dude like Ibushi in a match like this, I can't say I wouldn't be on edge of my seat if Kota is climbing up to the top of the cage.
