  1. It seems they'll be heavily pushing Hangman's reign from the get go, which is good. Danielson puts him over first and going by Punk's post match demeanor and what he said in the presser, he might be wrestling Page after Dragon. I think that's also an indication that the reign might not be very long (probably 3-4 months) but it will have a bunch of big matches that will establish Page as a big time player so once he loses it (to MJF? it would make sense), it wont feel deflating at all.
  2. Yeah, Eddie vs Punk and the opener were clearly the best matches. In fact I's put them neck and neck as far as MOTN is corncerned. .
  3. IC vs ATT was better than the Superkliq match. Still long but I had more fun watching it. The worst part was the finish sequence. Omega vs Hangman. A proper main event and the right man won. It took me a while to get over the fact Hangman ate three straight dragon suplex (one on the apron!) and all of a sudden was able to avoid the OWA and hit a german on his own. Matt and Nick watching him hit those buckshot lariats was the type of cringe stuff I didn't feel on Wednesday's contract signing but for sure was present today @joeg . Still, I thought they gave the crowd the match they wanted. Kenny's spring board sunset bomb was insane, might be the most impressive thing I've seen him pull off to date. Very good PPV that could've been great if a whole bunch of matches were shorter and didn't try to do so damn much. But I'm probably in the minority thinking that (in terms of the core AEW fanbase) so what the hell do I know.
  4. Punk vs Eddie. Finally a match that clicks. Dope fight, crowd woke the fuck up. Exactly what I wanted from this match.
  5. PAC/Cody vs Andrade/Malakai. JR said it best "it wasn't the prettiest tag match I've ever seen, but there was plenty of excitement". Cody's meta relationship with the fans didn't work for me here but they worked their asses off and there was a lot to like here. Third straight match I thought could've benefited from being shorter. Brit vs Conti. Man, this crowd didn't give the match a change. Really liked how they did their best to make you believe Tay had a shot at winning, I appreciated but can't say I totally bought it.
  6. Well if I thought Miro vs Dragon could've been 5 minutes shorter. Superkliq vs JB, LS and CG could've been 10 minutes shorter. They did a bunch of insane shit, felt they definitely saved the best for last but by that point it was like I had been watching the same stuff for too damn long. Felt the same weird energy as Miro vs Dragon too. Something tells me this crowd just wants to see Punk vs Eddie and Hangman get his coronation.
  7. Tag title match was a little too much for me. The fact they went like 10 minutes AFTER the belt shot to the head kinda killed me. I mean, it was a fun spot fest but man, they did everything and then some and it just didn't quite click with me. Still, fun match but I was expecting a little bit better. Miro vs Dragon was weird. Felt it was all over the place at times, the crowd and specially commentary felt like they were out of synch with what they were trying to do. I think it was like 5 minutes too long. Curious if a rewatch makes it better felt like a let down to me at first glance, in the sense I was expecting something GREAT and it was "merely" something good. Expectations are a motherfucker but when 2 great wrestlers face each other, can't help but having a high bar.
  8. I'm two hours late, watching on delay (FITE is awesome btw). LOVED the opener. Simple bodypart vs bodypart match were they chose very wisely when to do the big highspots. A little TOO cooperative at certain times, but that it certainly serve it's purpose of the two homegrown stars going at it. Liked how MJF fucked his knee up and how he sold it throughout. Darby's babyface fire and highspots were on point too. The ending might be too much sports entertainment for some, but I was fine with it. Whenever they have another match with each other, I'll be there to watch it
  9. I completely disagree with the notion that last night's contract signing was silly melodrama. Shit was pretty damn straight forward, specially for something as long running as Page/Kenny and considering it's The Elite we are talking about. I neither saw nor heard the over the top cringe stuff they normally involve themselves in. Hangman's promo reminded me of Kofi vs Bryan on the go home to WM 35. Where the baby face basically strips the heel of any mental advantage and makes it clear he's gonna win. And not only that, he makes the heel realize HE knows he's gonna lose. Because he's been in the face's shoes before and has lived though that "getting over the hump" moment. If anything, this conpletely sold me on Page winning on Saturday (just like Kofi at ManĂa) and that wouldn't have happened with the typical contract signing brawl were the face shows some fire.
  10. Hangman may have to get a Foley world title run because Miro needs every belt on the planet right now.
  11. Isn't Max gay? I guess he likes curly hair with his white boy
  12. Didn't catch it at first, but yes, yes it was.
  13. Lol, now Dragon combining submission moves to get a new finisher Loved how Rocky kept going for the arm relentlessly.
  14. What if Punk cheats to win? Extends the feud, makes Eddie the clear cut babyface and Punk goes into his comfort zone (as a performer). I'm sure he's gonna still be happy as fuck about working a long feud with Kingston even if it means stopping his happy to be here tour.
  15. That's 100% Eddie, no doubt in my mind he wrote that. I basically heard him tell that exact same story/timeline once. I guess it was a shoot interview somewhere. Reading it though, it felt even more powerful.
  16. I think in the Omega match (could've been another opponent though) he did a version were he kept his foot on the hand before stomping on it, it look way cooler. In the Kingston match it was even better because Eddie did get his arm out but not in time to avoid getting stomped anyway.
  17. Rocky Romero tweeted his coming schedule and he's wrestling Negro Casas in Denver. Now I want Tony Khan to call up Casas and book him in Rampage against Danielson. Has AEW booked CMLL talent? Can it be done?
  18. Silver took the Briscoes/Daniel Bryan bit of doing dives until the crowd goes nuts and has put himself in position to be a legit midcard talent that can be elevated whenever. Fun opener, Dragon really gonna take advantage of no house shows, no indy shows & Japan and gonna work every week on TV until he can finally get his ass to Tokyo. The Eddie/Punk confrontation was dope. Man I hope this feud lasts a little longer than just 2 weeks. No one better than Eddie to lit a fire under Punk.
  19. This is fucking crazy, lol.
  20. Ahhh, I see. Thanks man.
  21. Oh, so they were waiting those 3-5 hours to count them on that delay and they are not doing it anymore (and putting people that watch later with DVR)? I'm so confused, lol.
  22. Isn't that just further proof that the ratings system is assbackwards? When the west coast wasn't accounted for live viewing they were doing 1 million and now that it is counted (and probably has SOME portion of live viewers), it does 800lk?
  23. I don't understand how that happens. I listened to Meltzer explain it on WOR right before the change happened but I didn't get much of it.
  24. Holy shit that is truly depressing. Edit: Cole and Fish still on that page, not even sure when the last update was so not trusting that site.
  25. What was the number of signed wrestlers in January 2021 and what is the current number?
