  1. This is what I got with them involved. Daisuke Sekimoto vs The Bodyguard - Big Japan 2/23/19 (not a great one but it's one of those "clash against my opponent until someone drops" type of fun match) Yuji Okabayashi vs Zeus - All Japan 4/21/19 (this one legit felt like a freaking Kaiju battle) Daisuke Sekimoto & The Bodyguard vs Takuya Nomura & Fuminori Abe (Astronauts) - Big Japan 9/15/19 Daisuke Sekimoto & The Bodyguard vs Kento Miyahara & Yuma Aoyagi - All Japan 11/21/19 Here's the full lists, not every match is a MOTYC of course, but it's just to make the case why these should really be considered as performers of the year. Specially when you consider their excellence in both singles and tags, with different people, partners and opponents.
  2. If the night 2 champ vs champ matchup is Ibushi vs Naito, who do y'all think the japanese audience will root for? I mean, it would be a split crowd no doubt but the japanese always end up siding with one over the other in those type of situations. I'm legit curious because I can see both of them getting the nod from the fans.
  3. Holy shit was not expecting this match to be this good. It follows a more southern tag formula, with Kento getting isolated and leaving Aoyagi by himself to survive the beating the dudes, specially BODYGAH, have in store for him. They are able to keep things interesting for the first 15 minutes of the match, it's nothing out of the ordinary but there's enough to keep your attention. Aoyagi is a good face in peril but his offense is so weak that his hope spots don't have as much "hope" as they should, imo. Still, the kid takes the beating like a man and his comeback lead to a nice hot tag by Miyahara. Then we get the last 7 minutes which were fucking GREAT and truly elevated the match to another level. In the end it's Sekimoto and Aoyagi slugging it out and really feels like the kid turns the corner as a performer: fire, a little better strikes and some impressive moves. Great nearfalls and even though Korakuen was sadly half empty, the crowd was lit for the home stretch. This match won me over like a motherfucker, definitely check it out
  4. Strong BJ vs VIolent Giants - Big Japan 1/13/19 Daisuke Sekimoto vs Yuji Hino - Zero1 9/14/19 Yuji Okabayashi vs Takuya Nomura - Big Japan 7/21/19 Daniel Bryan vs Kofi Kingston - Wrestlemania 35 I'm doing a best of Sekimoto and Okabayashi in 2019 list and it's fucking insane. Dudes went all out this year
  5. That's such revisionist history to be honest. You can't give a "masterclass in storytelling" when of the 2 years worth of story, 70% (at the very least) of it were either pure filler or nonsensical stuff.
  6. The Young Gawd and Abe do it again, restoring that shoot style feeling giving 13 minutes of intense grappling and striking :wow:. Felt like they went to war for 30+. Some nice counters by Abe, who still impresses me no matter how much I see from him, Nomura's slaps remain the best in the business. I hope Barnett books them for the next Bloodsport, Astronauts need more eyes on they. This was really fucking good
  7. I've said this before, Gedo took so long with Naito that in the biggest show he's ever booked he's either gonna fuck Naito forever or gets Ibushi "WK 12 Naito'd". He basically booked himself into a corner with this one. But still, this winner takes all format is by far the most fun idea he could've done after the G-1. Timing is a motherfucker. I do have to question the decision to do the Loser vs Loser match on Night 2 though. I guess White can live with two straight Ls (and give Okada his W back) but any other result could be damaging to whoever comes up short twice. Wait, they finally got 40-45k paid for one of the nights??? It does feel poetic, I hope Sano still has something in him to do make that tag match on night 2 something special. I can't help but feel Ohtani would've been perfect in that spot for the quality of the match, but Sano being his final partner makes too much sense not to do it.
  8. For all that is holy, can Harper work the Champions Carnival? I'm not that greedy for ask for him to work the Strong Climb but please just 1 big tour in All Japan with the big boys.
  9. Any chance Bryan vs Wyatt happens on the first hour?
  10. I think the bigger point is trusting just once source and not confirming it with other people. Now, if Dave talked to 3-4 people and all said the same thing and then he still had to retract the report, of course there would be a bigger story that just one person with an ax to grind/being wrong.
  11. LMAO. We've reached peak Seth Rollins.
  12. I don't think he makes it to 2020 on that show unless Fox really likes him and blocks WWE from their request of shutting him up because he consistently (and rightfully) shits on the product every time he's on Backstage
  13. More than TV viewers I thought this was worrysome for AEW That's Seth Rollins as your nÂȘ1 levels bad.
  14. This whole Saudi thing has been top notch fuckery. All ending up with the meeting before RAW, Seth being a whiny dude and Dave actually retracting and apologizing. Bah gawd.
  15. Well, it was about the speech and Dave made a retraction and an apology. https://www.f4wonline.com/daily-updates/retraction-and-apology-seth-rollins-296666
  16. You read these four names in the same match and you kinda figure out what type of match is gonna be, and well, it's exactly that. 17 minutes of big dudes chopping each other to death, clashing against each other like freight trains and not stopping until their opponent is actually down. Loved the see WALTER as "just another big guy" in this, his size and power are of course a factor, but both Yujis did not hesitate when they got chopped and dished the same kind of punishment , it felt refreshing to see and made me want to watch Walter against both of them. Not a MOTYC but a very fucking fun tag match
  17. Silly as fuck, but RVD coining the term "All Petite" for AEW is hilarious I think that one is gonna stick.
  18. I hope Ohbari does a better job than Meji when it comes to promoting shows. It's good that they are still being realistic in terms of venues, but the lack of hype for shows that had either stacked cards or a lot of big talent announced was staggering for such a popular promotion. I also hope they take care of the talent, they already are banged up to hell once the G-1 comes around. Next year it will be different with the tournament taking place later in the year but flying them out constantly for 4-5 shows in the US during the time they normally take a break? Idk about that.
  19. Outstanding tag match, just non stop hard hitting action. With Strong BJ seemingly taking a hiatus, Abe and Nomura (Astronauts) are my new favorite tag team, those two are fucking gold together. Irie fits perfectly here, of course, and joins the fun of the neverending greatness that is this division.
  20. well damn Dave.

    Is WWE redeemable?

And it's even scarier when you add the fact that they've done such an incredibly shitty job at making that source of revenue compelling to fans so the can continue watching. And when they do try something it's almost always a horrible idea that fails.
  22. I honestly don't think it can get more depressing than the last 2-3 years of NOAH them telling WWE to fuck off is really something though. They might be a zombie promotion that has been sold 2 times in the last 4 years...but they ain't selling to no damn gringo, lol.
  23. On paper, Sekimoto is by far the best choice they could do as a trainer/leader. Strong BJ is neck and neck with New Japan in terms of the quality of young guys they are constantly debuting. I guess WALTER put in the good word for one of his mentors. But unless they'd be able to pouch him away and his boys away from BJW (which would be legit shocking) how would a relationship with Big Japan work though? Are we about the get big budget Deathmatches? lmao. And again, Big Japan has been struggling like a motherfucker for a long, long ass time, so in reality...they'd be a horrible partner for them.
  24. Even if they would "get" the business in Japan, NXT would be doomed for failure anyway. Only promotion doing really good is New Japan. Dragon Gate still doing well even after CIMA, Stronghearts and Shingo left...and that's it. DDT has been struggling for over a year now. All Japan has like 2 truly successful shows every 3 months. NOAH has been TNA (Dixie Carter years) status for a long ass time. The rest are basically indies. The fuck is a NXT Japan gonna do? Oh look, they drew 1,300 at Korakuen Hall! Edit: I hope every single old legend out there cons them to death. Like Onita getting a deal, Inoki being the liaison between NXT Japan and WWE. The only thing that would make this worth it is unadulterated levels of fuckery (and some wrestlers getting good money for a while before closing shop).
