Between the Sheets #57 (August 17-23, 1993)
Dewar replied to KrisZ's topic in Publications and Podcasts
I think he was not happy with the payoff-to-bladjob ratio in Smoky Mountain. -
Between the Roman Reigns and Roy Lee Welch love, you are the best poster here.

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
Dewar replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
There's some guilty pleasure stuff (Broken Matt Hardy, Eli Drake and his "dummy, yeah!!" buzzer), and there is some actual good stuff going on. -
Gymnastics in pro wrestling/the Ricochet-Ospreay/Vader drama
Dewar replied to GOTNW's topic in Pro Wrestling
They used the match to build an angle for a future Ospreay match. Vader didn't beat him clean, and it got a bunch of extra eyes on the promotion. Seems like it's almost perfectly booked, and people about Ospreay losing just want to complain. -
Can't argue about the stale booking.

They have 4+ months to build to Final Battle, don't they? I would think Lethal vs Cole, title vs hair would be on the card. Bucks vs Briscoes, Fish vs O'Reilly in a "friendly" match for the TV title that ends with them breaking up, are also possible matchups. For me, I would book Kazarian/Daniels vs the Machine Guns in a loser leaves town match that ends in a time limit draw, so they are all gone.

ICW and NGW/British Wrestling Weekly are now airing on The Fight Network in Canada every week, for my fellow Canadians.

This week was back to normal shows.

The card he made the Detroit comment on was taped in Las Vegas.

Whatever I can watch on free TV, I follow. So WWE, ROH, Impact, Paragon Pro, and Canada's Wrestling Elite. I watch some of the lucha that Cubsfan posts as well.

Most promotions you've followed at one time
Dewar replied to Cross Face Chicken Wing's topic in Pro Wrestling
Mid 80's we got Stampede, AWA, WWF, UWF and the JCP shows on television here (Winnipeg), so that would have been the most for me. TSN also aired Pro Wrestling Plus, which aired matches/angles from other territories (9 year old me had nightmares about the funeral for the Continental mascot where someone ended up putting on the suit and jumping in the coffin). -
They should just let Michael Hayes sing "Badstreet USA" on a loop for his speech.

Clearly you missed the episode of Raw when Mark Henry's son, THE HAND showed up.

@cdewar19, but I mostly post about the sports teams I cheer for that all suck.

Alex Shane is now the color commentator on "Fighting Spirit Wrestling", and he's terrible. Significantly worse than anyone on WWE/ROH/TNA right now, which is a scary thought. That being said, he was pretty fun in the early 2000s.

"Johnny Sorrow Reviews ROH" needs to be a podcast. Finally someone else who dislikes Kyle O'Reilly as much as I do!
-
Johnny Smith was at Anarchy Rulz, and Balls brained him with a chair during a pre-match schmozz to take him out of the match with RVD.
-
There's also a pretty good chance that JCP never actually aired where Bret Hart lived.

I love reading this, so at least one person is paying attention.

I think Taryn would fit in great in the WWE women's division right now, but I'm not sure they ever sign her back.

I played the CotG games when I was younger. Someone built a computer version of CotG (VBPromoter was the name, I believe) that I used for awhile, it was great at keeping statistics.

Lawler went out of his way on Smackdown to mention that because Rollins is the WWE World Champion, he's rich. I'd like to see more announcers point out that champions make more money.

I know Stampede ran Calgary on Friday, Edmonton on Saturday, Saskatoon on Monday, and Regina on Tuesday during the 60's, 70's and early 80's. Looking at results from 1986, they still can Calgary/Edmonton on Fri/Sat, but Sask/Regina became bi-weekly towns, and they went to British Columbia (Vancouver was the main town for them in BC). On the plus side for the workers, they were getting flown to BC and back for those trips. So Calgary to Edmonton = 295 km Edmonton to Saskatoon = 526 km (Lloydminster is in between the two towns, seems like a natural Sunday night stop) Saskatoon to Regina = 232 km Regina to Calgary = 776 km That's 1829 km for the four shows they ran every week. Medicine Hat is on the way between Regina and Calgary, so when they ran there, it doesn't add to the loop. Lethbridge is south of Medicine Hat, so when they ran there, it added a bit of travel. When they ran Montana, it definitely added more travel to the total.

I thought the story was that Bryan didn't tell the office about his symptoms, and kept working until they noticed the symptoms. I could have that wrong though.

How does he hurt the show though? How does he benefit the show? Not a good wrestler, not a good promo, he's just wasting time whenever he's out there. You comparing him to Spike is ridiculous. ROH has Dalton Castle, Romantic Touch and the Beer City Bruiser who can all do comedy much better than Cheeseburger. Other than CB paying to go to their training school, there's no good reason for him to be on television. Am I going to quit watching ROH because he's there? No. He's instant fast-forward time though.
