Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard

Jerry was on the most recent Kentucky Fried Rasslin podcast, and pretty much called Pritchard a coffee fetcher. -
A List Of Pro Wrestling Podcast Links

Any other podcasts people would recommend? Work gets slow during the summer, and I can listen to more podcasts at the desk while I work. -
AWA for me. I was too young to really care about the booking and the angles, I will always remember going to shows at the Winnipeg Arena with my dad and grandpa, and how much grandpa hated Jerry Blackwell, until he turned babyface, and then he loved that fat man from Stone Mountain.

Found a list of Meltzer's five star matches. The least surprising thing for me was how few WWF matches got all five stars. Listening to Between the Sheets each week really shows what an anti-WWF bias he has always had. Most surprising match on that list? The Smoky Mountain 10 man Rage in a Cage match. Killer Kyle has more five star matches than Daniel Bryan.

It would work fine if the ROH fanbase didn't eat up everything the Bullet Club does like they are babyfaces.

Tully and Arn did not even make it three full years as a team. That should be an easy no vote. If I had a ballot.... Listened to this earlier this week, and it was really great. Anyone who likes lucha, or has a vote for the WON awards, should listen to this.

I am on board with this. When Gabe books a show that sells more than 3,000 tickets, he can enter the discussion as best booker ever.

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
Dewar replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
Cornette states on his podcast regularly (well before he joined up with GFW) that he has no desire to get his paperwork done to get into Canada because of how the border security treated him the last time he tried to come up here. -
Did Sting ever face off with Lawler in Memphis? Also, I can't find any record of any Warrior/Jake the Snake matches after Jake turned against him. Others who met them both: Big Bossman/The Boss Ted DiBiase Kamala (beat Sting in UWF title tournament, met Warrior in WWF) Hercules Hernandez (met Sting in WCW as the Super Invader) Danny Spivey (Warrior faced him on WWF house show in 1987, faced Sting in 1989 in WCW and All Japan) Jack Victory (Warrior in World Class, Sting in WCW) Abdullah the Butcher (Warrior in World Class, Sting in WCW) Dr. Death Steve Williams beat them both in singles matches in the UWF

So 7 stars or 6 and 1/2? Not in the dome, loses a star.

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?

She provided big paydays to a lot of workers for a long time. From the standpoint of someone who got some of those big paydays, I can see how Foley could say she did a lot for the industry. -
The Jim Ross Is A Grouchy Hateful Vile Human Being thread

Don Callis is a fascinating guy. He's actually incredibly intelligent - like, he's a member of Mensa. I honestly believe he got released from the WWF during the attitude era because his intelligence intimidated people. I'm not the only person who thinks that, I know Mick Foley has said the same thing. After ECW went under he had a good run in TNA as their authority figure, but he quit TNA to get his MBA and was out of the business entirely and was working as an International Management and Business Professor at the University of Manitoba. (He still lives in Winnipeg.) He ended up going on Jericho's podcast and was so entertaining telling the story of his career in wrestling that he ended up getting a bunch of calls to be on other podcasts, and landed the New Japan commentary gig out of that. If you ever have time, you should listen to his interview on Talk is Jericho, it's really interesting. And as I have said elsewhere numerous times, his weekly podcast with Lance Storm is hilarious and pretty insightful as well. He works for the Province of Manitoba, and teaches a class at the U of M in his "spare" time. He used to cut promos on local shows about WWF firing him because they thought he was an asshole. I recall him mentioning on the podcast that he had been invited to attend a creative meeting with the WWF, and he did not attend. With his previous booking experience, and knowledge of running the television tapings for Tony Condello, I was suprised to hear he would turn that opportunity down. Edit: His Wikipedia page says he has been married to three actresses and a porn star. I don't remember him ever saying anything about being married, but I do remember he used to date a local Hooters waitress, because he would come pick her up from work when her shift was done. -
If he ends up in New Japan, I don't think he's in the heavyweight division, so he's probably not getting singles matches with Naito. Him against Kushida would be fun though.

That was just terrible. The year before when Austin Aries cashed in the X title for a shot at the heavyweight championship, it was a great story. Sabin doing it was meh at best.

Weirder smark obsession: Roman Reigns or Women's hair?
Dewar replied to stro's topic in Pro Wrestling
His hair is amazing, so yes. Very normal. -
He's not going to work the indies. This is a guy who made almost 36 million dollars playing football. If he decides to try pro wrestling, he's most likely going straight to the WWE developmental centre.

This is my favorite thread ever. Well done, goc!

So photos of Laurel still wearing her wedding dress on the April 13th episode. That's commitment to a storyline! -

Anthem did produce Rush albums. -
Voted Bret. this will definitely be a contest for second place.

I would argue that Bryan got over in WWE to the extent he did because of Kane. Sure, he was always a smark god, but he became a big-time mainstream guy during the Team Hell No run.

I'm not a big Sami fan, but he had a pretty good match with Mark Haskins during season 3 of British Wrestling Weekly that would be worth searching for.
