  1. What would be the alternative to nominating and having the opportunity to discuss individual candidates?
  2. I'm still fuming over Emilio Charles Jr. You're all scum.
  3. For all the talk about lists being "cute" and all favorites or whatever, I'm beginning to wonder if the ending list will just feel like a usual suspects sort of thing at this rate.
  4. Matt Hardy is gone? A person with more desire would know who is left to go. I'm getting nervous of what's to come.
  5. It's boring as shit when people make these kind of posts that defend one sentence posts that shit on a wrestler instead of encouraging further critical evaluation, even if it is just a way of paraphrasing why someone finds a wrestler boring as shit. It's a message board for crying out loud. Discussion is the whole point of it. And let's not pretend this would be the general (maybe it would still be yours) tone if we were discussing a worker the PWO hivemind (which the results have amusingly enough transcended so far) deemed great. Okada is also a boring little shit.
  6. I just figured he might have a bit of bump in some people's eyes like he did in mine watching the lucha stuff that daintacash has uploaded. You would be wrong on the second part of your statement. WHOA! What is this? I'm disgusted by Emilio's placement and the tarnishing of my reputation!
  7. #150 When it starts to count Friendships will forever end Wrestling is a farce
  8. I can't imagine it being better if things were "exclusive". You'd get less ballots but presumably with these sorts of things still slipping in.
  9. I'm not sure a few joke ballots demean the process. Granted you would rather there be none but still.
  10. What new information led you to make this post?
  11. http://wrestlingwithwords.com/podcast/we-dont-know-wrestling-death-to-mania-long-live-mania/ WrestleMania has come and gone. Sam and Tanner are joined this week by Devon Hales to discuss WrestleMania weekend as Devon was there to witness the wildest wrestling weekend of the year in person. Who came out looking good? Did anyone disappoint? Where have the good ones gone? None of those questions are answered. You will have to listen in to see what questions are.
  12. Joey Ryan became a star from riding the coattails of his talented partner and lucking out into a viral video. Do what you gotta do tbh. Now this may have been suggested in the back pages here but is there any chances of Recommended Matches being added post-hoc or would that be too much work? I know a few people who didn't fill any of them out because the process itself already took a small chunk of time that they weren't too worried about it. I think that is helpful for people coming to the list from the outside or those who simply didn't pay them anymind in the process. But again, that might be too much work.
  13. Did I like my ballot? Not entirely. Did I submit my ballot? Hopefully.
  14. http://wrestlingwithwords.com/podcast/we-dont-know-wrestling-mania-madness/ WrestleMania Weekend is here and I guess we have to kind of talk about it. We are joined unfortunately by Case Lowe once again. You want CZW talk? You’re weird but we talk about it. You want EVOLVE/WWN talk? Sure, why not? How bout SHIMMER? Technically. Ring of Honor? Absolutely not, we should be able to watch live or next day cause tis the season. Joe Koff why you playin’ me dog? Don’t be sour. Case wants to force Greatest Wrestler Ever talk into the podcast at various points so be prepared for that. I still have no idea about a lot of WrestleMania. A vote not against Dragon Gate IS a vote against a better world. PS Sorry for the unfortunate title.
  15. A more traditional match can muddy that idea with other narratives at play while I feel shoot style seems to cut the fat and gets right to two combatants trying to implement strategies.
  16. Shoot style sort of cuts out the pretense of something I enjoy in wrestling: Watching strategies tried, failed, and adapted to.
  17. As with any wrestler?
  18. I learned that I might kinda have a disdain towards wrestling. And that I prefer high octane but not silly wrestling.
  19. Well post-WrestleMania I send you all sketchy DMs on Twitter, for those that are on Twitter, about Greatest Match Ever. Which I hope would be an easier process for those here for one reason or another with multiple people here already having released Top 100 Matches lists. http://www.voicesofwrestling.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=12&sid=56ff9de99688d9fc085e80af963b075f Outside of that I will be focusing on 2016 as Tanner and I will be trying a WKO-esque list called the WDKW100 which hopefully would be without the stigma or odd barrier to entry to that forum. That place got me into a lot of different wrestling that I never would have otherwise but the "John Cena or Hiroshi Tanahashi" question even tongue-in-cheek is a bit off putting if not for me than for others opinions I would like to see contributed to. http://wrestlingwithwords.com/forum/index.php?threads/wdkw100.343/
  20. WE ARE BACK! http://wrestlingwithwords.com/podcast/we-dont-know-wrestling-gwe-bonanza/ We Don’t Know Wrestling is back after a short break and we are joined by Case Lowe this time out to talk the Greatest Wrestler Ever project over at PWO. We run through our tentative top 10s, who has gone up our ballots, who has fallen down are ballots, and wrestlers we are sure unsure about whether we will rank at all. The lists are weird and still don’t have a clue what we are doing except for maybe Case. But he has less of a life than us so I guess it is okay.
  21. Kaz Hayashi http://segundacaida.blogspot.com/2013/01/my-favorite-wrestling-wcw-saturday_27.html (v. 22. I will be too ashamed to show my ballot to the world so good.
  23. How many full shows from 2016? If you could, could you link it possibly in the OP?
  24. I nominated him at the last second so I feel obligated to at least put some sort of argument for him in front of the esteemed (heh) panel of voters. Quackenbush probably thought he was a better wrestler than he ever really was. Similar to Chris Hero in the sense that they both seem to strive to pull from these great wrestlers from various backgrounds with aspirations to at least create a somewhat similar reaction with the way they put it out in front of their audiences. Chris Hero has done that to great effect while Quack had/has a promotion that allowed him to continually put himself out there in that manner for years. To say that he may have had the greatest match in Chikara history doesn't feel like something with any cache since I'm not sure how many wrestlers had as many opportunities to have great matches in the promotion as he did. I can't blame him to an extent as Quack seems like one of the more creative money marks I could imagine as he books these super elaborate comic book type stories while he put himself in situations to wrestle with his favorite wrestlers as well. I tend to like Quack more often than not even if his WOS/lucha hybrid style seems to lean into the cutest aspects of both. One of the reasons I nominated also was that Chikara for a stretch was the promotion I felt I could most sink my teeth into from about 2011 until the "closing". Delivered wrestling I enjoyed with stories I could see unfold. Quack was one of those wrestlers, with Kingston and possibly Jigsaw, who made me consistently not regret purchasing a show. That can't be said about a lot of indie shows then or now. MATCH RECOMMENDATIONS There's a heckuva lot more on YouTube): v. Eddie Kingston: -Still view this as the quintessential indie championship match for this period. v. Green Ant: -A grapply sprint against a wrestler who was still trying to put it all together, and still is tbh. v. Claudio Castognoli: -TPI 2006 match. Seems like the best match of theirs if I can recall. w/Jigsaw vs. Claudio & Bryan Danielson: -It is either this or the 12 Large final for greatest Chikara match ever in my book. Though, Quack might be the fourth most important guy in the match.
