What Current WWE Active Roster Members Will Make Your Ballot?
concrete1992 replied to Dylan Waco's topic in 2016
Counting for my own purposes of people that I think are likely at this time: Joe Styles Cena Cesaro Sheamus Brock Show Goldust Zayn I think at least. -
It looks too much like they care. I'm scared.
-
This is the most happy I've ever been while being completely baffled when looking at something CMLL was doing.

We Don't Know Wrestling SUPERTHREAD!
concrete1992 replied to concrete1992's topic in Publications and Podcasts
http://wrestlingwithwords.com/podcast/we-dont-know-wrestling-freelance-mark/ Mark Maxwell joins Sam and Tanner this week as they break down the rad looking Freelance Wrestling card going down on February 5th, The Scene Is Dead, Long Live The Scene. We learn of a new match that will be happening on the show, Sam momentarily expresses his disdain for Ethan Page as a wrestler, talk aboutintergender wrestling happens, and of course we show our love for the one and only Jimmy Rave. Looks like a hot show that will be streamed LIVE on YouTube for FREE! If you like what you see and can afford to send a little scratch their way then donate a little. That money goes straight to booking even more cool talent. If you can’t, at least spread the word on Twitter. After Mark leaves the guys the show goes down hill in a hurry. Sam is trying to book a Brazilian version of PRIDE which means he really isn’t listening to Tanner while he does some back patting. Great audio content. -
Does this negative stigma effect anyone posting in this thread, people that will probably be voting? My issue with coming to terms with CZW potentially getting a raw deal here is that things you point to with mattering don't matter as much for me. The "most of the guys that came in and made a name for themselves there went on to do the same in multiple other companies including WWE" line comes off awkward as typically when you're good in this day and age you go other places. At least Chikara attempts to exist in its own bubble because of the booker that there is a better reason for why the good wrestlers never truly break out. Jimmy Olsen was a quality babyface in Chikara under the Equinox gimmick but was also a tremendous heel in the CNY/UNY region.
-
Would have rather we picked Chikara so we could question if Jimmy Olsen and Shane Storm deserve nominations cause I would probably pick both of them over Blk Jeez. Actually, I kind of want to nominate Jimmy Olsen.
-
Well The Barbarian is a better wrestler than Blk Jeez.
-
Define a "strong case" for Blk Jeez as he probably isn't a a Top 100 for any of the past years, And I only say past few years because that's all I can be 100% sure of. I'm not saying I'm doubting he was ever a good wrestler but I've only seen mediocre at absolute best.
-
That was more of a vote against noting genre exclusion than specifically lucha but yeah joshi is probably even a tougher sell.
-
I know people are already crossing off styles but that seems like a way that could easily become a massive negative. Take InYourCase for example who may only vote for one or two lucha guys but he feels Negro Casas is maybe in his Top 50. I feel, and I may be off-base which is fine and I am far from one of the more active contributors of PWO, that it feels less worth voting for someone like Casas when you know you can check a box that will remove you from people who feel more comfortable with lucha. In the overall list Casas gets hurt but in some granular list he might be helped.

Since we know Parv reads each post meticulously then I believe "In Your Face" was rather uncalled for. Also, good post. Interested in checking out MORE Fujinami now.

This line of thought bemuses me. What non-American style does thus thought process not apply to? When I first heard about Japanese wrestling I didn't hear about stupid elbow exchanges and weird fighting spirit spots. I heard about stiff wrestling that was the superior style on the planet. Heck, NJPW just took the top 4 spots in outstanding/WOTY in a year where almost every wrestling fan with knowledge of most the world considers that suspect. That feels like something that shows just the praise without the criticism. But maybe I'm misunderstanding.

Apparently we haven't been to reddit and/or the Classic Japanese Wrestling thread on Facebook.

JvK reviews pimped matches from late 90s-10s
concrete1992 replied to JerryvonKramer's topic in Megathread archive
One Punch Man happens when a bunch of older folk spend pages talking about how youths think. Then when you have said people often belittling most they cross paths with then the PWO One Punch Man thread is born. Would be interested in reviews of all matches from an older gent trying to view it through the lens of a youngster. Cause why not? -
New around these parts? Roh had Monster Mafia (Josh Alexander and Ethan Page) both willing to sign and they choice not to because they wouldn't go to a pay to play training camp and that was before WWEvolve was snatching everyone up, they had Austin Aries come back for 1 show, had Willie Mack, AR Fox, Corey Holis, and Jonathan Gresham have "try-outs" that went nowhere, and worst of all they could have used Ricochet but chose not too. The problem isn't the talent getting stolen it's that ROH doesn't seem to see what talent they should be going after even when it's right in front of them. Bingo. There is/has been talent that has been right there for the picking and they've chosen against it for some reason or another. At least we've got Beer City Bruiser.

We should also respect people that would rather not have people roll their eyes at them. Being inclusive does not mean forcing someone to be included.

http://wrestlingwithwords.com/podcast/we-dont-know-wrestling-weekend-be-rumblin/ Hugh Little everybody! Hugh joins Tanner and Sam as they discuss what Tanner calls “Like another WrestleMania Weekend.” A truly inspiring description if there ever was one, believe that. Truly though, we try and run the gambit of events going down from Proving Ground Pro to EVOLVE to ROH to WWE and before we finish up we give Fantasticamania a quick hit as well. Tanner takes the reigns for most of this week…so if you are wondering how that goes you absolutely should listen. Make sure to check out Sheet Sandwich and Talking Sheet for great coverage on the coverage of the finest of arts, pro wrestling. -
Oh, that's far from the only time I was thoroughly amused by her enlivening a cold-dead-corpse of a situation. When I first saw her at a WCW house show, she was working way harder as a manager than most of the then-indifferent wrestlers were even trying to do in the ring, and I've seen her succeed in various other situations where nobody had any business being any good at all (remember Nise Sarah Palin in TNA?). The empty-room bullshit just came immediately to mind first because it was such a clear example, since I've been there and done that and it's damn near impossible for that stuff to ever be anything but an embarrassing clusterfuck. A great character, ok. Is she a better wrestler than Ricky Steamboat? Little Guido? Earthquake? Triple H? Taz? Where does she rank as a worker? What are her strengths as a wrestler? We are talking about the 100 best wrestlers of all-time, make a case for her. None of what you are saying is anything more than enjoying a manager/wrestler who made the most out of shit. Is Prince Nana on your list? She...she is literally not nominated so I'm not sure why you are pressuring anyone into a discussion.

Both grand pieces of entertainment. Kinda just wanna play Undertale now. Also very glad that of culturally relevant things UNDERTALE is brought up. I love it! -
I'm ranking practically everyone on a "small sample size" so...
-
Can you maybe list them out?

You're above this.
