We Don't Know Wrestling SUPERTHREAD!

https://soundcloud.com/wedontknowwrestling/wrestling-is-objectively-bad This week the boys bring on Warren Taylor to discuss...well things I guess. Young Bucks, Alberto Del Rio, and a whole lot of nothing. The usual when you get down to it. Wrestling fans are all dumb and weird. We get into that. PLUG: twitter.com/WarrenETaylor Also, actually put the download button on so WOO! -
They gave a reasoning on Facebook but whether that is the whole story or not I couldn't tell you. The tl:dr version of that is that they didn't want to have the company go to the point where they would have to close. I mean they are an indie so the money isn't obviously crazy. They've also been going for like ten years.

Also going to repost my Watertown thoughts from Wrestling Forum FOR THE 2CW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: "Hybrid" Sean Carr, 2CW Champion VS. "Chainsaw" Joe Gacy, Challenger Actually really looking forward to this one. Gacy is kinda getting the short end of the 2CW stick in a way where I think he could have been a real fixture for the company in 2016 like a Sami Callihan was. Gacy is a regular for Xcite Wrestling which operates in Binghamton,NY and is likely to have to fill some of the gap left by 2CW. Happy to see though he's at the very least going to get this opportunity to have a hoot of match with Sean Carr who is fun talent. I would describe Carr as a kid that grew up watching Attitude Era flyers like RVD, Lynn, Hardy Boyz, ect. and had decided to just do that. SPECIAL ATTRACTION: John Morrison (Johnny Mundo) VS. Johnny Gargano Quite frankly I am not high on Gargano right now. I am a fan of Mundo though and he had one of the better matches of the year against Ricochet who is someone I am also not predisposed to enjoying. That at least makes me optimistic about this one and hopefully it delivers past my expectations. TAG TEAM ATTRACTION: To Infinity and Beyond (Cheech & Colin Delaney) VS. Oi4k (Dave & Jake Crist) This should just be a nutty spotfest and I'm all for it. STIPULATION: TBD - ONE LAST T IME Watertown's Own Jay Freddie VS. "Juggernaut" Jason Axe One of the most intense feuds 2CW has run. Scratch that, THE most intense feud they've ever run. In Freddie's hometown on one of the last 2CW shows ever I expect them to bust out all the tricks to make it a memorable last go. Interested to see the gimmick they decide to go with. SINGLES MATCH: Pepper Parks VS. Gregory Iron Not exactly a match I'm thrilled about. SINGLES MATCH: "Slyck" Wagner Brown VS. TBD TAG TEAM ATTRACTION: Brute VanSlyke & Kevin "The Man" Graham VS. TBD Michael Christopher Open Challenge !

Honestly not sure how much this match will appeal to most here but god damn am I excited to see it. I think if you are going to run a nutty, out of control, spotfest, it might as well be a trios match. Also, they just sold out their final show on 12/20.

Poor use of the word work rate that is all.

Bumping him because Tanner said he wanted to give a REAL case for. Don't want him to forget.

Now. Sorry, every time I go to upload a podcast I have to do it twice and inevitably I forget to edit the permissions the second time around. GOOD TO GO THOUGH! -
I went from finding Parv's comments silly to thinking he really shouldn't submit a ballot. Granted I think the way he is going about it has pushed me to believe he shouldn't interact with ANYONE on a message board. Not submitting a ballot because one doesn't feel others are giving it the proper care is simply wrong in my eyes. It is slap in the face to those who have committed time to this project. Why bother do the project, amirite? We all haven't put enough thought into it. It is disappointing that someone with a valid reason, Loss, wasted their defense on someone who didn't deserve any of it.

I swear to god if a Wrestling Match HOF Project runs while the Greatest Match Ever gets into full swing...

Have your cake and eat it too, brothers.

I'm young so that is okay but half of you will be dead by 2026. Seems short sighted.

One person from the beginning knowing this process wouldn't be for them is one thing. One person realizing everyone else's process isn't for them is another. EDIT: Also, who said this would happen every 10 years? I haven't read where that is firm.

https://soundcloud.com/wedontknowwrestling/not-the-greatest-podcast-ever Don't let the name fool ya. Sam brings on the mysterious Tanner and JR Goldberg for this week's podcast dedicated to the Greatest Wrestler Ever Project over at ProWrestlingOnly.com. It is a real hoot and kind of informative thanks to JR. We talk #1s, we talk gaps, and we talk some real pro wrestling. You better believe that. The most important thing you come away from this podcast with is that lucha is a real blast. Yep, that's it. Sam shows no bias in this description. You GUARANTEE? There's a million and one services. Why should I bother with Monster Factory? Like...I barely have enough time for things that are also free.

The best thing about Makabe is the Spider Suplex. Mostly I'm a mark for the move since I used it regularly as a signature move in Smackdown Vs. Raw. Was a tremendous way to set up high flying moves. Makabe gets it.

Please add Sting vs. Jeff Hardy to the list there cheapshot.

For a #1 contender, which if I think you plan on voting for lucha wrestlers he's at least in the discussion, it seems odd to have him with so little fanfare as far as this thread is concerned. Negro Casas is great and has been great for too long to consider anything less than a top flight wrestler. Where's Casas's peak? Seems pretty shady to call someone who may be one of the Top 5 or 10 wrestlers in the planet for each year of this decade to be considered well past his peak. Maybe I'm naive. Honestly, based on just the 2010s he would probably have to make my ballot. That would neglect that he's had more than two decades of GOODNESS to back that up.

I have it on good authority that this isn't true

Not sure why Parv needs "defending". Question 1: Did I enjoy the experience? Question 2: Why or why not? Parv's list essentially is my "Question 2" in a lot of ways. I'll never ask those questions specifically but often those will be reasons that come to mind. So really, I think Parv nailed it on the head more or less. ALSO, I always watch something twice if I want to do a write up on it for no other reason than shotty memory. Even if I have just finished a match things get jumbled or moments don't stick. I write it up while watching it the second time because I more or less know how I feel which gives me direction in my writing but I also might catch something that changes the way I view the match as a whole. Or it might force me to make note of something that I rather didn't like in something that made my brain hurt the first time. Actually putting words to Word Doc makes my opinion more rooted whether that improves on the first match viewing or not. It forces me to really think where it stands in the grand scheme of my wrestling watching for some reason.

[GWE] What does versatility mean to you?
concrete1992 replied to Dylan Waco's topic in Pro Wrestling
GET READY FOR THE RAMBLES! Versatility means a lot to me but that is probably because I don't plan on voting in the "proper" way. I know, you're supposed to have a level of objectivity when it comes to this list, who is actually the best, but if I can't stomach watching a wrestler for a couple hours because I saw their great matches with little making them standout from each other then I'll have a hard time voting for someone or voting for someone really high. What does versatility mean? I think we've come to the consensus that it isn't one thing. I THINK I'm sorta in the same boat with JVK in regards to the All Japan stars. I say sorta because I know he is a massive fan of the matches those wrestlers took part in but the lack of variety will hurt them in something like this. For me, I am not as high on peak AJPW as others. It is great but for me it doesn't feel like the be-all-end-all. I know that is probably sacrilege to some or at least makes one question my opinions. As my list develops more and more it feels like Kobashi is the member of the Four Pillars that will slip. Of the members he seems like the most one-trick-pony of them all. Great fire, wonderful selling, but sometimes I feel like it'd be difficult to find performances that could engage me out of his comfort zone. Maybe I haven't seen enough Kobashi though. Stan Hansen is a weird guy who I feel could go either way depending on if I see more of his stuff outside of AJPW. Vader is the sort of "variety" guy I love. Can go at it with anyone and make it good. He's essentially the same wrestler each time but his wrestling works in a large variety of environments. Same for a guy like Tenryu from what I've seen. Daniel Bryan though...he is a high end TRUE variety wrestler who can anyone's match and deliver something great. That's going to be a big reason why he'll place quite high on my ballot. -
Local promotion 2CW is having their last shows on 11/29 in Watertown, NY, 12/17 in Binghamton, NY, and 12/20 in Syracuse, NY. This stinks.

We Don't Know Wrestling SUPERTHREAD!

https://soundcloud.com/wedontknowwrestling/we-love-too-much Sam is joined by Case and Fray this week to discuss...well that is a truly complicated question that results in one asking the root of any question. You must come to terms with a person's carnal desires. It is then and only then that you will understand what this week's We Don't Know Wrestling is about. What is the purpose of a Dollar Tree? Who needs people? Why am I still alone? We can only hope you feel something during this week's episode. Goodnight. Good luck. *Depth is more important than breadth as long as I don't rank double digit Dragon Gaters. Just wanted to clarify.

I think 2 Cold is maybe an obvious pick. More so that he's been mentioned a bunch. I got to see him live for the first time this year and my lord was it lovely. Thought he was going to bust CJ Parker's nose. Also, I'm mentioning Necro and you can't stop me. He's not just bumps, he's also HAMFISTS! Oh and prime Samoa Joe is prime offense. Virus is someone who consistently leads to me going "Ah fuck" when he's hitting that mat. Heck, even when he's busting out a highspot. Such a lovely meatball of a man.
