The board has been more than lenient with tons of posters. WildPegasus was allowed to post inane nonsense for years, jdw and JvK used to get into topic wrecking fights and Bix is open about being a fan of Kane. All banworthy actions. He's grown boy and I'm sure he can discuss this with Loss and Goodhelmet without his friend petitioning for him back. To act like this isn't a case of the straw breaking the camel's back and instead an irrational banishment is nonsense though. Not acting like this was OUT OF NOWHERE as far as Rovert having prior instances. It is irrational in the sense of the straw. A nothing statement shouldn't break the camel's back. He didn't ask for me to make a post and honestly wouldn't consider myself friends with him all that much. Just don't think this action, even if it is in addition to all the others, adds up.

You could say you overreacted in this instance and were willing to use your powers as a mod as continuation of your reaction. But you won't say that. Or anything like that for that matter. Which is slightly unfortunate.
-
But you created the reason for his ban. He didn't even screw up his chance this time. And if we don't think he can chance then you would have been presented with a more justified time for it.
-
Why didn't you ban him then Loss? And Matt D, it is turning missing the trash can on the street into jail time after being told not to shit on porches. Who shits on porches? I DON'T KNOW JUST GO WITH IT!
-
I understand this. But if are gonna go ahead and ban him, ban him on something more than a technicality.

Will keep it only contained to this thread. I understand his past on why you would be more prone to blow up over the comment. It didn't even come off as a passive aggressive shot to most, including myself. It was an innocent joke. PWO is a place I would associate with high level WON HOF discussion and a place I expect to be more in favor of a guy like Dick than Tanahashi. Is there a consensus? Nah, and I think everyone, including rovert, knows that. In this case it was an innocent comment that I think half of the posters, maybe less so than the most regular posters, could have made. And I can't begin to understand why he would crack on a guy he likes and a place he likes in the same breath. In this case, we've decided to use precedent to too far a degree. If nothing else it makes PWO come off as a much less welcoming place. I happen to believe that their are two scenarios where he would come off as trying to take a shot at PWO 1)Posting directly on here 2)Not tagging PWO in his twitter post. He was expecting it, probably like most that saw the tweet, to be taken in good fun and in NO way a shot at this board. Rovert is a big proponent of this place and the PWO network of podcasts. Since Murdoch had a feature on him for the WON HOF through PWO PTBN podcast "Good Will Wrestling" it seems like at least he could have a somewhat valid connection between PWO and Dick Murdoch even if he knew and was not attempting to imply ALL of PWO associated with this view. Not even a massive Rovert fan cause he can be abrasive at times but at the end of the day I think PWO is a more complete place with him here. Much like if Joe or Rich got banned it would feel a heck of a lot more unwelcoming. So lets just give him another shot.

Did he get blocked? He says so on Twitter and I don't have a reason not to believe him. Okay, so Rovert can be a bit of a dick at times on here and on Twitter but I really can't imagine his joke, which was shit but not in a rude way just in a "How bout airplane food?!" type of way, being the final straw for him. He truly does enjoy this place even if at times it doesn't really show when he doesn't explicitly say it. But yeah, dude deserves to be here.

I think that is a double edged sword though in all honesty. Current matches can benefit AND be hindered by having the context around it AND having a bunch of people communicating about it over the interweb during real time. An older match tends to lack both.Well at least it does for me. Case-in-point: Just watched Steve Viedor vs Gwyn Davies. Only seen one Viedor match and nothing of Davies. All I knew was that it was a championship bout. This match completely latched on to me emotionally as if I were watching a 20+ minute Rocky Balboa fight. Stylistically there were a few things that were jarring but emotionally, something that doesn't tend to happen to me these days, I was overwhelm in the best of ways. Now, it is hard to give an example of a match that was poorly viewed during the time but aged and was viewed better cause I've probably never went back to watch those but I like to believe the point still holds some water.

Online Wrestling Discussion (Community)
concrete1992 replied to BillThompson's topic in Pro Wrestling
I know you probably were going to post this anyway but it is indeed a heck of a day to do it haha. But yeah, I think ON THE WHOLE it is easier to surround yourself with good discussion. -
Hey guys. Just wanted to add that I too write for Free Pro Wrestling! Totally a worthwhile site providing free LEGAL content. From WWE to NJPW to CMLL to Indies. http://freewrestling.wordpress.com/?s=Sam+DiMascio ALL MY REVIEWS?!?!?!?! Yep. Mostly indie wrestling but a couple of lucha matches in there.

Left Out in the Cold - Who will NOT make your list?

Gonna have to move this to the strategic voting cause I've officially decided to lowball Joe's favorites in favor of Aja Kong. -
Did TJ put you up to this? Damn.

Then don't continue using sports as a point of reference -

Okay, sports is a shitty example unless the idea is "Well Tamika Catchings would be more suitable for a basketball HOF than a Latrell Spreewell". -

If someone pimps you 3 matches as someone's best work and you watch all 3 but don't see the big deal, how much deeper should you dig? To be honest, I don't see the point in watching three matches of this wrestler and three matches of that wrestler because at some point if you keep doing that you're going to end up with a top 100 where you ranked workers based on only three matches. If you don't like a certain style and you decide "okay, I'm gonna watch three matches of a worker from this style and if I'm not impressed then forget it," what's the point? You might as well not bother. To me that's almost confirmation bias. It's not an honest effort at getting into a style. I can't tell people how they should watch wrestling, but I would hope that they're more selective with the wrestlers they invest time into than some willy-nilly approach to writing people off. I know it isn't meant to be this way but seems to be another comment that would lead to "qualifying" the voter pool. -

Is it? If you have an insane amount of wrestling to watch and you can only tackle a small, probably recommended, sampling if those initial matches gives a real poor impression then I wouldn't want them to waste time on those wrestlers. Would it be nice if they could get at least 7-10? Yep, but save that for wrestlers with some redeeming qualities otherwise I can't even imagine how many wrestlers will just have to be looked over. -
Maybe this is a different thread's question but I think before answering this I'd have to wonder who do we view as UNANIMOUS picks. Unless you mean being the low-vote out of the people who have voted for him.

I don't know why I thought this but I thought Sheamus would be sorta a darkhorse on this list. Not to be near the top but still be a bit higher than people expected. The more talk that goes into this the more unlikely it seems. Not sure I get the "potential" talking point. Sheamus seems to be a guy that has made more out of what he's been given than most. He just happens to be not amazing at the parts that aren't in the confines of a wrestling match. Since that has no bearing on this he feels like a guy who could move up faster than maybe any other wrestler based on the next year of work. A couple of POSITIVES for the guy: Works stiff. And I like stiff. Consistently good-great TV worker Can work against a variety of guys Doesn't look out of place and is at least above average in 1v1, 2v2, multi-man matches, gimmick matches, ect.
-
Yeah, I don't quite get this match. My tastes in wrestling have been inching closer and closer to Dylan's for a year now but I can't really fathom thinking this is really good. I'll be posting about this match for my blog but I don't know when I'll have time to push that out so quick and dirty points: Cena's punches to Khali in the ropes are TERRIBLE Cena lying spread eagle several times doesn't really get me into a match and make me think "WOW, that selling" Khali isn't good...well we already knew that I suppose I hated the blocked brain chop because it meant the brain chop was blocked Followed watching that up with his match against Big Show from Extreme Rules 2009...fantastic and blows the Khali match out of the water then blows it into nothing. Granted my perception of the match could have been tainted by having just gotten done watching the Khali match.

I'm starting to consider Joe and Alan lazy for lack of Stomper Lists (Kidding on Alan since he said he'll try once work slows down. NO EXCUSE FOR JOE!) In all honesty I wouldn't be opposed to voting for Tanahashi if he has some stuff earlier that comes off well. There is definitely stuff of his I've enjoyed.I won't go watching blind at this point though so hopefully someone drops down matches to watch and not just 3-5 but something that helps me understand the breadth of their career.
-
I think it should be, or at least it'll be for me, a more situational thing.I'm not going to watch every match and while it'd be nice if a wrestler busted his hump every night if it means their career had an extra few years of good stuff then it makes perfect sense. But say, the wrestler took off nights and they had like a rather short career with only a few years of actually darn good stuff then that just isn't going to fly. Now also going with the whole "situational" thing. I'm okay with wrestlers dogging it on house shows for most the time. I would not be okay with them dogging it on TV shows most of the time. If they are dogging it a sizable chunk of the time even against not great opposition on bigger shows? Yeah, that hurts a good chunk to me.
-
Can you guys display that kind of stuff pre-2011?

Miyahara is someone I should give another look at since I've liked him when I've seen him just haven't seen him too often. THANKS!

I'll be busting through some real characters via my BLOG. Did the first round tonight with a few matches from Bam Bam Bigelow and a couple from Mr. Jerry "Crusher" Blackwell. http://t.co/WzMZaMlMOW

I need to watch more of his earlier stuff but he has a solid shot of making my list. He had a real banner year last year and may have been the best wrestler in NJPW. I mean Ishii might have been it but I'm not going to watch Ishii for this project so Nak is the guy who'll lose the spot with the more I watch. Granted I'm basing this off like 2-3 years so he isn't a guy like AJ who is continuing to make a case since i know how good some of his stuff was before this run.
