We Don't Know Wrestling SUPERTHREAD!
concrete1992 replied to concrete1992's topic in Publications and Podcasts
HEY I REALLY LIKED OUR SHOW I'M JUST LAZY! NEW EPISODE ALERT BTW! http://wdkwrestling.libsyn.com/desert-island-comp-2-quentin-moody Starting off a new series of shows here on the We Don't Know Wrestling feed! The Desert Island Comp series (working name) will have me sending off a wrestling pundit to a deserted island. The catch is, they get to take with them a compilation of up to 10 matches and up to 3 promos, angles, vignettes, etc. The next person I am sending off to a deserted island is Quentin Moody, host of Psychology is Dead. We discuss his 10 matches and 3 promos/angles! We go through the wrestlers he is attached to, his origin story, and just good graps. -
This has the potential of being the best card this weekend. If only GCW would take more of this type of approach regularly instead of the buffoonery it does with having death match workers sniffing cocaine mid match... Buffoonery? It is called WORKING!

At first I was like "That sounds bad" and then I began to think Dickinson might be dumb enough to attempt to shoot on Severn.

For those not in the know, PCO is currently 50, over 6ft, weights probably 250+ , practices BJJ, and does the sickest moves. GCW is doing so many things.

Part of me thinks that the culture of searching for hidden gems means leaving behind established "classics". Granted I only say that because that's how I am ha -

Hello all, we are officially 2 weeks out from the deadline for WDKW100 ballots! Go here to find out how to participate http://wdkwrestling.freeforums.net/ -
So far they have announced Fenix vs. Flamita. They also had Rush and Mysterio the original poster
-
I expect Pro Wrestling Revolver will go up the rankings, they probably did today with the Fight Club Pro announcement bringing in Meiko Satomura. At the time though they only had one match that didn't look too wonderful.

Goodness, will love putting together the "Indie Matches of the Weekend" for this one. . Here's how I see the power rankings for promotions going: 1. GCW 2. EVOLVE 3. SHIMMER 4. Style Battle 5. Rev Pro 6. WrestleCon Supershow 7. ROH 8. The Crash 9. Pro Wrestling Revolver That's a lot to get excited about.

r/SquaredCircle's 100 Greatest Matches Ever Poll

I love these lists as a dip into the waters into the mindset of a group of people. All lists help with that especially when confined to individual boards. -

After discussing on Twitter I have confirmed the list really isn't Meltzer like. Granted I don't know the formula that spits out this list cause it is indeed out there. -

concrete1992 replied to Kadaveri's topic in Pro Wrestling
The list is going to be interesting as it is what the "casual/hardcore" audience likes in wrestling. Sure, it is "Meltzerian" but most fans of this group have been leaning "Meltzerian" for the past decade when footage wasn't a big issue and finding a starting point of great wrestling from outside WWE was as easy as looking at Dave's ***** matches. It isn't brainwashing, it is a product of wrestling being easier to approach than ever. The "hardcore/hardcore" is going to be found on http://gweproject.freeforums.net/ but that is clearly going to be overall a much smaller audience. The most interesting thing to me is it features SIX Benoit matches. Who is doing this? -
Tim Evans, this was an extremely underrated match from Gulak and Kinston

2018 pro wrestling is insanely interesting
concrete1992 replied to Sean Liska's topic in Pro Wrestling
Modern wrestling is good actually. A hoot that folks still talk down about the modern wrestling. The weird thing is that I don't know if 2018 is any more wild than the past few years, things are just layering on top of each other, continually building. Not sure what we are building too but 2018 might be the year we find out what the WWE and NJPW international relationship means, ROH's goals as a promotion, and if TNA is a wrestling promotion. -
I am interested to see how this works. Big Japan biffed it hard but DDT is in my eyes the best solo promotion streaming service out there so it feels like it could go either way. I will sub if it is like DDT's.

Please confirm that you are looking for shoot style matches in the stylings of the Indianapolis territory, thank you.

Thank you Matt D for such a BUCK WILD MATCH! Need more of that in my life. http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/13630-el-hijo-del-santo-atsushi-onita-tarzan-goto-vs-negro-casas-horace-boulder-tim-patterson-fmwuwawwa-051692/&do=findComment&comment=5831057

Goodness me there is a lot to love here. Some would say having two matches going on would be a detriment but I am a true fan of pro wrestling and enjoy staggering inconsistencies. Everything Casas and Santo do is beautiful. Everything they do is right. Now that, but the opposite for your FMW boys, no complaints though. Onita and Horace “My Dude” Boulder go all around town slinging chairs at each other, hoping to get that sexy, sexy plasma to come out of the other’s face. First fall is likely the peak but they definitely didn’t disappoint in the proceedings. If anything it feels like Santo and Casas have more of a spotlight. Without the FMW boys causing a ruckus in Row Q though you don’t get the scale of the first fall. Horace just starts yelling “STOP IT! STOP IT!” on the apron before the third fall when zilch is happening. Wrestling only gives, never takes. Santo busts out the headscissors and it has been a minute since I watched Santo so holy cow is that move still the damnedest thing you will see. Sure, the match loads itself heavily on novelty and a hot crowd but I’ll be damned if the radically different approaches to wrestling within the same match didn’t enhance my enjoyment. I don’t always want wrestling to be super approachable, I want it to hit you from a couple of angles. The match feels built for someone like me with a short attention span where every moment something different is drawing your attention from a lovely armdrag to Tim Patterson’s gangly body flailing about. That’s the pro wrestling I need more of.

Yeah, it isn't expensive to follow Starr but it also isn't free. A sub to PBTV and HSWN pretty much covers the majority of US indie wrestling and wXw

To put it out in the open i recommended a match fo recent vintage featuring my #1 wrestler of 2017

Going to be another interesting year figuring out how streaming stuff is working. FloSlam is out but PROGRESS and Beyond are there...PROGRESS probably won't be excited to trust WWN with streaming again and Beyond is fully on board with Powerbomb.tv. Then the WrestleCon stuff being linked to HSWN who did some live stream last year. So far the weekend seems in line with delivering buck wild stuff. Sasuke, Suzuki, Sawa, WALTER, and Sekimoto being present means we are bound to get some TOP NOTCH NOVELTY ACTION!
