We Don't Know Wrestling SUPERTHREAD!

https://soundcloud.com/wwwaudio/matches-of-the-mid-year-2017 June has concluded and now it is fair game to tell you good people what the best matches of the mid-year are for 2017. Tanner (@Tanner1495) and Skyler (@Twwitterdotcom) join Sam to run down their individual top-ten lists and there isn't a ton of crossover. Just how daddy likes it. Matches from companies big and small, near and far. Let's gooooooo!!! -
Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
concrete1992 replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
I find it funny that the debut of the rebrand is going to be Slammiversary XV. -
Interested how they pair the final group of lads. Garrini is a young guy not from the area but has wrestled a tad in the south. Puts in the miles which some guys really like. Talented on the mat and I think he's quite good at turning that into a PRO WRESTLING match Stallion isn't known for the Chattanooga territory but certainly works the southern region. Still young but Big Mike will figuratively and literally take this guy places. Torque is a TN dude I think who has that traditional indie guy with southern charm mix. Should have a good showing but in my eyes he's the only representative from this area left on the board. Sticks out as it seems last year you had lads of similar standing pairing off. No matter who he is against it will be of a more known quantity at least in the bubble. Arik Royal is potentially the best CWF Mid-Atlantic representative possible for this tournament. Super explosive. Jason Kincaid feels like the most known wrestler left on the board thanks in part because of WWN. Also has that NWA Smoky Mountain thing working for him. Good fit for the tournament. Jason Cade is someone I'm less high on than most. Far from bad and would likely be fun against any of the remaining men. Based on his work with Jon Davis, him and Royal could put on a banger. So yeah, I would say the tournament really has 5 real local commodities in there since I'm not treating Henry or Tank that way fair or unfair. They paired off two and Torque will get that first round "showcase". Wish there was someone on a Jimmy Rave level so it was a bit more meaningful but whatever I suppose. Riddle is the only guy who has that cache this year so interested to see who he faces on the second night, whether or not he makes it through Tank.

I think I'm at the point where I wish they would mix up the formula of the G1 somehow. No solution likely makes financial sense but I think creatively this format is tapped. Each year there feels like a slight variation on the year prior. I don't know if four blocks are the solution but it is the only one that leaps out honestly. I don't know if doubling the size of the field to make it happen works out. G1 produces great matches* and then typically ends with a fine finale** but usually feels like the journey isn't the point despite the length of the thing. *I'm not as high on most matches **Doesn't always work for me

https://soundcloud.com/wwwaudio/we-dont-know-wrestling-scenic-city-invitational-2017-preview Scenic City Invitational isn't until August but the field is announced and I'm ready to chat. Dylan Hales, officially a man of the wrestling business and not just a SCI hype man with influence, joins me to discuss the makeup of the field. That's the bulk of this bad boy. We have talked tournaments before so interesting to hear from the horse's mouth how these individuals fit into the process. Let me know your thoughts, topics you would like discussed in the future, ect. -
As someone from CNY/UNY I am obligated to buy this set. Two matches from my city of Binghamton. Which makes 9 CNY/UNY matches in total. That's p good. P p good.

WE BACK! SPECIAL INTERVIEW WDKW with Adam Lash of Powerbomb.tv. On the show Sam does the hype man gimmick for Break The Barrier 2017 because he's real excited for some Old Forge graps. We discuss the booking of the lucha tag match on the show, the importance of the main event, and sitting or standing. What a trip! https://soundcloud.com/wwwaudio/lash-me-daddy -

concrete1992 replied to C.S.'s topic in Pro Wrestling
Not exactly sure the classic footage is worth its weight in gold. Sorry for those that love the service but it'd pretty much need to be built from the ground up to come across as meeting the standards of the market. I think the footage being out there is great though the service needs work ESPECIALLY since they'd want to put more focus on the modern product. Which probably should have been done. The NWA itself will always have some level of cache. It might take a lot of elbow grease to get something out of it but there is name value there. Not sure the partnerships Billy could make at the moment. The Crash and AAA both being partners with TNA should be an issue. Truly don't know if there is enough names left in the free market to make this work but I'm all for him trying.- 36 replies

There is something beautiful about him buying the NWA. I'm assuming the classics footage is separate but I'm not he would care about buying it. If this goes through I'll be monitoring it with glee. Lots of possibilities on the table as long as NWA doesn't have books with a bunch of negatives.- 36 replies

YO BRIE LARSON PUT ON A PHENOMENAL PERFORMANCE YOU... *Reads THE Room* Ah, okay nevermind. Anyway. I unironically enjoyed the opener, Janela v. Marty & Riddle vs. Severn. Art can be batshit crazy while still being great in the Janela instance. EDIT: Though to say things can be enjoyable and also bad is completely valid. Guilty pleasures are very much a thing.

People's perception of wrestler's sizes.
concrete1992 replied to Memphis Mark's topic in Megathread archive
Pre-debut internet hype, basically. Before he came out as a fat dancing dinosaur. Sheer ignorance. I was hoping for a John Tenta worker and instead got Junkyard Dog. Pre-internet hype also got people thinking Dean Ambrose and Sami Callihan were top tier talents. You can't trust pre-internet hype. Sami Callihan is a top tier talent. -

Have you ever wondered what would compel some lads to get hammered then do a dumb wrestling stunt show for themselves and some buds? Not sure this podcast answers that but there is even more stuff to discuss! Brock and Andrew from Sports Entertainment Shrinks give me a little insight into the world of yarding including discussing a list of “primer” matches that can be found on Wrestling With Words. YARDING FOR DUMMIES BY DUMMIES YOUTUBE PLAYLIST http://wrestlingwithwords.com/we-dont-know-wrestling-yarding-for-dummies-by-dummies/ -
Just doing a little catchup on the list so far as we work our way to the Top 100!!!: HM Part 1 HM Part 2 HM Part 3 HM Part 4

Why does puro get so much love? Why does lucha get so dismissed?
concrete1992 replied to Grimmas's topic in Pro Wrestling
Blaming Meltzer for not rating lucha as highly or as often is absurd. The "Well if he talked about it and put it over more than the style would be more talked about" sure is a talking point but sort of pointless? Right now I think JR Goldberg is doing about as good a job as anyone using larger platform to discuss lucha in a more in-depth way than Meltzer ever will. And that's fine. More little voices putting out thoughts places they can be seen. Not just lucha centric coverage. Also, what is the point of any of this? If you're on PWO there is a sizable amount of members who DO watch lucha. -

WDKW100 ballots are due on February 28th. Not sure what the WDKW100 is? Well I recommend going HERE! Got it? Cool. Well I have Case, Tanner, Quentin, and Fray to discuss their process and what stood out to them when creating their ballots. The segments are hot and heavy. Except the one with Tanner. Not hot. Not heavy. USE #WDKW100 WHEN TALKING ABOUT THE WDKW100 WATCHING YOU ARE DOING OR IF YOU ARE LISTENING THIS SHOW! I GIVE RTs REAL EASY! https://soundcloud.com/wwwaudio/wdkw100-late-push -
Hey all, going to have a podcast coming tomorrow with a few people discussing but wanted to lay out the WDKW100 information once more since the deadline is coming up: http://wrestlingwithwords.com/wdkw100/index.php What is WDKW? It is a podcast. I’m offended you are asking. It is not very popular but still. What is the WDKW100? A list of the top 100 wrestlers on the planet for 2016 based on in-ring performance voted on by fans. The poll should not consider promos, ability in segments, ects. This is meant to be a strictly in-ring, in-match, based list. So, don’t discount that Japanese wrestler because you don’t know if he is a good promo. Who is eligible to be voted on? Anyone who had a pro wrestling contest which made tape in 2016. Does it count if it aired in 2016? Nope, sorry. This will be the biggest issue with Lucha Underground. Episode 14 of Season 2 of Lucha Underground, “Cage in a Cage”, is the first episode taped in 2016. Hopefully that helps you know what to consider when making your list. How do I vote? Well that is currently not finalized but the plan is to vote via a Google form. You will fill in your ballot of 100 wrestlers, ranked, and I will tabulate the results. TENTATIVE DEADLINE IS FEBRUARY 28, 2017 THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE FORUMS: What is the Wrestler Discussion section for? The best way to make sure a wrestler is eligible for you to vote on during the voting period for WDKW100 is to create a post for an individual wrestler? Please don’t make posts for tag teams. Just will get confusing. In those threads, tell us what you like about the wrestlers, what matches you would point people to, link to matches you think are good for them, ect. Got it? Good What is the Misc. Discussion section for? Do you want to talk about something WDKW100 related that isn’t about an individual wrestler post? Yeah, that goes here. Do you want to compare individual wrestlers or regions? Put it here. Want to talk about your voting process? Go for it. Topics along those lines would be perfect for this section. What is the WDKW100 Announcements, Information section for? Hopefully this is self-explanatory but essentially if there is news going on, such as when voting opens, you can find it here. Such as this post. If you have any questions about the systems or such you can ask here. Where is my confirmation email? Please check your spam filter first.

tl;dr - the promotion is slowly transitioning out of a grapple-heavy style Which is highly unfortunate. Hope Thatch never drops the strap. -

Why do people hate thigh-slapping so much?
concrete1992 replied to Microstatistics's topic in Pro Wrestling
My biggest problem is it takes one mistimed slap to take me out of things for awhile. Not about being "fake" but about creating a disconnect. When you have a thunderous sounding kick that clearly just nicks, or even whiffs, then everything else feels less important.
