  1. Wait for Saturday kid, ya’ll poke your eye out tonight!
  2. Well, one could consider what happens in A Christmas Story “rampage”
  3. The only thing I can think of is these loons are actually trolling those disappointed in Kevin Owens, and apparently Sami Zayn staying with WWE.
  4. Yup. IIRC there was a time where he visibly tapped in the ring to the Crossface in a non-match segment. Afterwards he’s in the back talking it out to Edge and Christian that “since it wasn’t a match, I still have never tapped out!”
  5. Speaking of low hanging fruit. I wonder if there is OTB at Belmont Racetrack, literally right across from UBS Arena, during the winter months. Surprised Punk didn’t run with the idea that many in the crowd were degenerate gamblers that came over from betting on across the country/globe horse racing for most of the afternoon!
  6. Duplicate mark for deletion
  7. I’m thinking this was a one-off, also one of the first wrestling events in a spanking new building, so why not spotlight having a regional star on the roster, in a current main-event level feud. FWIW, Plainview is probably in the center of Long Island, Belmont, where the arena is, is not that far off from the Queens and Brooklyn border on the west end of the Island. It’s about a nice, depending on traffic of course, half hour drive away though.
  8. Probably akin to the 1997 Marlins, 1994 Expos, 90s and 2000s Padres, 1995-2001 Mariners. Teams where ownerships have huge fire sales after a white hot season in order to keep at an operating budget.
  9. Another thing about the Cena quips is that it kinda mirrors Punk’s calling out Cena for becoming the New York Yankees of the WWE. That’s also a staple of Rock’s promos as well. Though both he and Jericho were better at “making it stick” when they were baby faces targeting heels with the “nicknames.”
  10. And MJF dropping Cena references sting more since he was Punk’s biggest rival. Anyone else (Reigns, Brock, Rollins, Orton, AJ, etc) would have seemed like a a reference for the sake of referring to a top WWE star.
  11. My head cannon is that Austin is a 4-time Rumble winner (and only 3-peater)…yeah I know if I head cannon that I have to take away 1997, but still…
  12. He also stripped himself of the title rather quickly (the character was a baby face at that point), which probably is the main reason it doesn’t get lumped with the Russo/Arquette reigns, or even his ECW title “run” that lasted a couple of months.
  13. Yup. It referenced The Rock’s tweet earlier in the day about a major piece of news coming out that everyone hears about at a party. A high and drunk friend of the staff kept saying that it was a wrestling thing, that was setting up a Rock-Triple H match at the next Wrestlemania.
  14. After that episode aired, in an Office fan group (I think it was on the TelevisionWithoutPity forum) someone wondered if that Sbarro would be getting tourist trap attention. I replied that you probably can’t quite make out the street corner (pre-Google Map Street view (though to be fair, probably was close to Rockefeller Plaza since they filmed there)), and the joke is that the chain was at the time so ubiquitous (like a Starbucks or McDonald’s), that you couldn’t go that far in that area without seeing several around.
  15. Well, not having heard the line and context, too be fair, Paulie was the last one standing at the end of the series. Always a scummy and scrappy survivor.
  16. So, are they bringing Windham Rotundo to beat him in order to turn him back to a fan appreciating baby face again?
  17. He was there the Raw after the night in 1998 Vince fired him for not counting a finish in Undertaker-Kane!
  18. Ensuring BryD some more time to perfect the eventual Eco-Friendly version of the AEW Championship belt that is inevitable when he finally wins it!
  19. Be interesting though if their match at 8, and Wembley SummerSlam were part of a trilogy as opposed to just the two. 8 adds the added dimension of not only Savage going after someone who had his old belt, and someone who refused to give him a match, but someone he had yet to defeat.
  20. I find it amusing that whomever wrote that makes it seem that the majority of non-kid, and non-adults with mental issues pro-wrestling fans in 1990 didn’t know the true nature of “the business. I mean, yeah you don’t get much more sleazy carny with mainstream shine than King and Vince, but that reads like they mapped out a “legit” series of boxing matches that supposedly were on the level. As opposed to a crafted, multi-layer narrative for the major storylines for their two main event performance exhibitions at the biggest show of the year.
  21. Well, it certainly isn’t leading an NFL team to unparalleled success since his family started to run the team
  22. Is Jacque going to be the head of his police force?
  23. When does Heyman become Smackdown GM? Not sure if the WWECW era counts as “manager/advocate/whatever you want to call your second” for Heyman as he was the heel authority figure of the brand from turning on RVD until he quit/got fired after D2D. So it was more akin to his original ECW character than a straight manager/second gimmick character.
  24. What shit has the WWE made up in regards to Lesnar’s runs? I don’t think they’ve done phantom changes/reigns since the PPV era started.
  25. It makes that whole Cesaro/Curtis Axel/Ryback “era” all the more confounding. True you could liken it to the era where he broke off Lesnar in favor of The Big Show, and never really did much until becoming the Smackdown GM, but still it is a glaring misstep in a stellar run as an on screen character.
