  1. I think that Dandy/Foley-Rose/Satanico might be my favorite match of a tag pair up out of four straight wrestlers off of the list so far. Since it's two luchadores and a Portland guy, the next two might make for the greatest trios ever.
  2. I laughed like an idiot at the Dylan/Devon juxtaposition.
  3. Totally down with ****1/2. This is such a great match. I love just how MEMPHIS Koko is in this match-- he's fighting it for all the little guys with great punches who have to sell their souls to get the time of day anywhere else. He and Flair do an excellent job of avoiding the non-title switch finish seem as utterly obvious as it is, too.
  4. Where did Barry finish in 2006? Am too dumb to be able to find that list.
  5. He should have won Best Interview for 2015 just from when he heeled on Charlotte and said that women would never draw.
  6. Double post.
  7. Yea but he never wrestled in Japan. This is close to true, but not exactly. I found one tour for him from when I was working on my fantbook a few months ago, which was the W*ING Junior Heavy title tournament in June '92. He worked Ted Petty (as the Cheetah Kid), Ariel Romero (as Gran Sheik), Katsunari Toi, Chaz Taylor, and Jimmy del Ray (as Jimmy Backlund) twice including the final which Dundee lost. Half of that tournament field is dead, of course. W*ING as hell.
  8. If Owen had Bret's drive and mind, he'd be #1 on my list... or at least would have a shot. Spot on, both of you. If it was "Most Talented Ever" and you had to point to their careers to show it, Owen's top 10. I think that that's a steady point that people make. He wasn't an underachiever, but he could seem like one because of WWF constraints/a seeming non-career away from WWF & NJ. His match with Danny Boy Collins is a good example of him not seeming like an underachiever, I think.
  9. He gave Jack Evans the gimmick.
  10. Joshi slaughter. I don't know how much Phil's line about LCO being the female Public Enemy has stuck as far as a change in acclaim, but Takako Inoue (as El-P has bitched over and over) wasn't nominated either and she wasn't part of the team, just part of the same AJW generation. LCO are the fucking best. Check the '90s yearbook forums for a sampler. I really should have found a way to make a ballot, she'd probably have gotten a Mando-esque vote out of me.
  11. I like this point a lot. I've been a huge fan of Papa Panther in the last couple of years and that would have been unfathomable to the voter base ten years ago,
  12. Yeah but Angle theoretically added to his career, just not to the same extent unless you are Meltzer-level crazy for his TNA tenure. It really is the different voters, of course.
  13. Peter O'Toole = Flair?
  14. Said this on Twitter, but Panther's drop is mystifying. Doesn't he have a better case now than in '06? Footage explosion and all for others but he still had his signature career MOTDC after 2006.
  15. Just thought again of Dylan's "Otsuka's like Kurt Angle but actually good". Angle-Ishikawa probably would have been the former's best match ever, right?
  16. Takada's hope comebacks are SO good. And then he gets a giant bearpaw swipe to the face anyway. Absolutely love this match.
  17. And to triangulate: Piper's VERY high on the list of people where if we could just see the matches... the AWA stuff and (to me) ESPECIALLY Hollywood/LA are huge chunks of someone who might as well be a different person.
  18. I'm on-board with motivated Nash being great.
  19. Yeah, I think it's more a personal projection based on the relationship Paco is said to have with him being incredibly similar to Vince's with 'Taker.
  20. Flair is Reagan's America. Hogan is John Milius's America.
  21. At what point in his career could you make an argument that Atlantis became a lucha version of 'Taker?.Really only until the build for his match with UG started?
  22. X-Pac in '01, multiple with Rey in '03 plus the team with Eddie, great PERFORMANCES in matches on RAW in '04 like the Batista/Orton/Trips-Edge/Shelton/him six-man. Team with Regal. It's more defined by his seeming inability to ever actually be bad. If he was in a match, it was going to be worth watching, no matter the circumstance.
  23. This is just a general post to ask if anyone has WON-level substantial WWF/WCW departure rumors, it'd be appreciated if you post them for when they're time relevant. My sinus infection is killing me so that's why this has been more protracted than I'd like. Also, uh, I'm ostensibly a college senior.
  24. Could easily see him giving Crews and Swann the matches of their careers. If he and Kalisto were put together, same. And then he still has PPV matches that haven't happened with Ambrose, Reigns, Rollins, Rusev, Styles, and Zayn. They could even get CRAZY and put him in a PPV program with Cena.
  25. Dylan goes all in for Tamon Honda?
