Top 50 at absolute worst if he stays CESARO.
-
His SMASH/WNC renaissance was very, very nice. He'd be top ten in "guys who ranked at all in '06" who were able to add to their resumes, I think.
-
I'll defend KOTR '01 as a ****1/2 classic if you apply a "shoot psychology" to it. Kurt and Shane negotiated the spots the way that they did because they couldn't stand each other. "He did that chain wrestling spot where he beat me, I'm totally gonna sandbag him on the suplexes through the glass." Two men who cooperated in having a match in which they did things that only people who hate each other would do.
-
If you want to shit on 'Taker's matches with HHH or whatever, fine. But I love this "how many CLASSICS emerged from his feuds with The Great Khali and Giant Gonzales and post-stroke Gordy and fucking Kama Mustafa and Bundy and why wasn't his Skyscraper run memorable?" attitude. A million Kane matches. A few hundred thousand Big Show matches, almost none when both were at reasonably full health.

I like Tana, but don't think that he's top 100 at all, even though I knew he'd make it. So that's nice.

NWA-TNA 2003 aka a passive-agressive way to deal with depression
Bierschwale replied to El-P's topic in Pro Wrestling
Don West was also great at saying lines that were given to him by Dusty or Dutch, too, better than Tenay. Him talking about the Six Sides of Steel and its lack of "play" in the fencing during the second AMW-XXX cage match is exactly what Dusty would say, and West somehow makes that Dusty impression work. -
Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
Bierschwale replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
A lot of wrestlers are borderline retards, so they just thought that the runes were cool, like what a metal band would use? I mean, they are obviously white supremacist Aryan Brotherhood punkasses, but I am willing to believe that they are that stupid in the name of "sick tats". -
I might have put him top 100 because I like some of his non-superspectacle big matches a lot more than average (Hardy on RAW '02, Lesnar at Unforgiven '02) and I just really like the WWF New Gen main event style. Trips on GMT alone wouldn't have stood a chance. I'd have him above Jericho. He'd have been a cut before Sano, TAKA, and the joshi culling, though.
-
'Taker is one of the heads of state when it comes to SC-era candidates who added to their resume, though. Not even six months removed from a MOTYC against Lesnar. Something something Great Match Theory something something please kill me.

Top 100 (Predictions, regrets, how many fallen soldiers do you have?, etc..)

Yeah, I was 10 back on HMs. -

Kurt Angle made the top 100. But so did Virus. That's a distinct win. -
Seeing him surrounded by Devil/Kansai/Oz should put his peak into context, though.
-
Oh man, Jericho is way worse as top 100 than 'Taker.

The Eagle has landed.

I'm not at all surprised by that. Little to add to his legacy since '06 and mostly precedes the Super J era. The appreciation of his shootstyle stuff, especially the PWFG classics, came after '06. But even there he's second-tier as a name. I don't know. I'd have put him top 100.

Some great marginal gains for Johnny Saint, who was really one of the only Old British Guys who wouldn't gain a lot from WoS gaining momentum. Tony St. Clair is also in that category, I think.

Lets just transport Necro to peak Memphis and Continental. Life isnt fair. Omg YES! Necro in BattlARTS, ECW, and Puerto Rico in '98-2000. Assuming that the footage would be available. That's an easy one, though. Necro as a lucha brawler speaks for itself, but I can never get past him in PR.

Yeah, 58th or so seems like a safe landing spot.

Wrestlers who had a lot of great matches but aren't great
Bierschwale replied to Grimmas's topic in 2016
What about making matches that don't have to be great into great matches for your Cena-types? Example: Cena & Rhodes Bros vs. Sandow & Real Americans, SmackDown main event in October or November 2013. It didn't have to be a great match, it just needed to be pretty good. But it actually is a great match, and Cena is key to it, like a late spot where he just blows up Jack Swagger with a tackle on the outside. -
If you try to make sausage out of everything that he's said over the years, he just got bored really quickly. He was never inspired enough by the subtleties of what he was doing.

"He was great at Kent State." Amateur style grappling kinda-seems-to-give-a-shit Ziggler IS a good wrestler. I might say very good. He's just too much of a dick to stay with it.

NWA-TNA 2003 aka a passive-agressive way to deal with depression

David Young was awesome. He and Cross get five minutes the next week, which I imagine to be fun. Sonny Siaki is just legitimately useless.
