  1. LMAO at Jericho insulting Paige VanZant's looks?!?!?! Like, has he seen himself in the mirror in the last I don't know 10 years?!?! And then to do his 2000 Stephanie promo as a face in 2021 was literally *cocktail's kiss*
  2. I LOVE how Dante is selling his leg even as he does his moves. This guy is going to be a massive star.
  3. I was actually going back and recalling Lesnar's run in 2013-15 where he was booked like an unstoppable monster after the awful HHH feud, so that Reigns could slay him and ascend to the top. We know that didn't happen, but until I was properly recalling this run, I had forgotten that the first man to beat Brock after that run of terror was.....The Undertaker. Now I know they gave Brock an out in the match and he ultimately won the feud, but it is legitimately hilarious that the one win they were going to use to put over their next big thing (no pun intended) was instead used for an old past-his-prime legend. That is seriously some funny shit.
  4. WWE is consciously branding itself as the heavyweight promotion, so it makes sense for Roman to use that line of thinking. We all know size doesn't mean much if the other person is better at fighting than you, but I don't think Roman is looking to convince anyone or try and be logical. That comment about fans babying the promotion is really funny though, especially coming from him. I wouldn't blame him even if he genuinely gets confused or salty at modern fans enthusiastically cheering for its top faces. He's spent his entire career in a promotion that has lost the ability to book its faces like that. Or really, book anything that gives them what they want, apart from the "top guy is a heel with a stable behind him" trope which is the only time they actually pull the trigger and actually push the guy strongly. It's not a coincidence that it took that for them to finally book Roman like the top guy.
  5. What DID Nash do in 2002 that pissed off The Rock so much, he called Nash a Big Daddy Bitch on a live mic on national television?
  6. Thank you, that was an excellent post. It certainly helped me understand it from a different perspective. I don't know how much of modern NJPW striking exchanges are anime/manga inspired and how much is King's Road inspired, but at this point, it is irrelevant I think. I have seen so much love for the match, so many fans calling it their MOTY. It definitely has a very visceral appeal, and to be fair I did really like the first two of them. I thought they told a good story with Danielson being out of his element during the first exchange and getting plastered, and then finding the fighting spirit needed to survive the second exchange. For me personally though, the mat exchanges were so fucking excellent, if they had cut down on a couple of those striking exchanges and instead focused on grinding each other to dust like they were doing, I would have enjoyed it so much more. The matwork was next level, there were so many little nuances they were adding, they would keep shifting and moving to new holds without ever losing the feeling of a genuine fight where they were trying to best and hurt each other. What we had was great but imo it was too little. I wanted more, damn it!
  7. Hangman Page to be interviewed. Page-Omega is the greatest ongoing story in wrestling right now, and I am very excited to see how they book its next chapter.
  8. Looking at the reaction on Twitter, I didn't know people loved stiff strike exchanges THIS much. They certainly gave fans what they came to see, but strike exchanges becoming this mythical in pro wrestling is certainly something. To me, such exchanges were born out of an inability of wrestlers to understand the layered, constantly building psychology and callbacks and progression of King's Road, only focusing on "HA, Misawa and Kawada are forearming and elbowing each other in the face again!!" But I realize this is a topic for another discussion and I sound like someone twice my age when I see it. We should really make a thread for moderrn wrestling tropes and what we think of them.
  9. She definitely feels at home in the pro wrestling world, far more so than Junior, even though it is also evident that JDS is a big fan. I imagine her vs Britt would generate some interest. They try hard to book Britt like a proper tweener, so she can be the babyface carrying wrestling's flag. She's an asshole, but she's our asshole.
  10. Counting the buy-in, this was easily the best Rampage in weeks, maybe since the Punk debut. It's amazing what a difference a hot crowd makes.
  11. Credit to Sammy, he looked great here. And the crowd is extremely hot for this. I am glad Scorpio got a pin, albeit with a lot of help.
  12. He does his worked punches like he is so terrified he will accidentally hurt someone for real. He should just not do them at all, they look like shit.
  13. You all know I am not a "my wrestlers should be able to beat up people for real" person, but Jericho getting punched by Junior dos Santos and not immediately crumbling like a pack of cards is too much for me to take.
  14. I don't think it was like a 2010s WK main event at all. There were barely any chain reversals for starters. I just wish they had toned down on the strike exchanges towards the end.
  15. Punk definitely seems like he has shaken off his ring rust. He is ready to be in a proper program now.
  16. Love how disgusted Taz was by Punk's show of respect for Bourne
  17. Danielson is excellent at injecting character work in his matches. He's great at making you think what he is thinking
  18. I thought this was a very good match that could have been great with 3 mins less and one dozen strike exchanges less. I mean I get it, it'sMiSu, this is exactly what the crowd wanted, but Danielson is clever enough to keep them invested without giving himself unnecessary trauma. Especially because the technical exchanges were superb.
  19. Yeah this has definitely gone way overboard. I much prefer nasty mat worker Danielson to stupid strike exchanges Danielson.
  20. It fits with Suzuki's character though, and I completely buy that Danielson would be stupid enough to try and go toe to toe with Suzuki and get absolutely massacred for it.
  21. I think they prolonged the striking exchanges so the crowd got their little chants out of the system before they settled on the meat of the match
  22. Man I am loving this opening Greco lockup sequence
  23. Moriarty v. Fish was solid. I don't know about so many kick-based finishers in a promotion like AEW, which was built on superkicks and V-Triggers.
  24. I love Tay. She has a great connection with the fans. I wish she wouldn't do some moves whiich look sloppy or obviously rehearsed and cooperative. This match was fine apart from a couple rough spots.
  25. I love those Terry Boulder promos
