  1. So glad Brodie's family got to have a nice moment in his hometown
  2. On social media, he said he thinks Cody is distracted by Hollywood, so they are definitely pushing that Arn thinks Cody is flippant about wrestling
  3. Heard Cole-JB was an excellent match with a typical weak Elite finish. I think AEW needs, not a booker cuz TK is becoming good at that, as much as a formatting and finish person. It's a pity Cornette has burnt his bridges with everyone in AEW, cuz he would have been absolutely perfect for that role.
  4. It made perfect sense and the only way you can think it is bad is if you irrationally love Cody's stupid duck face
  5. Urgh, I guess Cole has a match so he cannot be doing this. This Arn promo was fantastic and is clearly setting up a Cody heel turn. Everyone loved Arn shitting on Cody

You have clearly never seen WWE fans argue why every single thing the Fiend does is actually classis horror storytelling. Or how Martha Hart is an ungrateful bitch for allowing Owen Hart's name to be used by AEW and doesn't let his fans honour his memory cuz she is bitter and blames Vince for a tragic accident. It is incredbile just how much ugliness you can find on Twitter if you are looking.
  7. Wake up to Cody. How was the Bryan-Elite segment?
  8. LMAO
  9. Or maybe the FIEND returns to create more STRIFE

I posted this in that thread and I think it encapsulates my feelings:
  11. Thus got a genuinely loud laughter out of me, I had never heard this before, well done. I also think they have got to stage some kind of tribute to the late great Brodie Lee. This is his hometown, where he was supposed to debut before covid tore everything apart
  12. It's really interesting how Bruno indirectly ruined so many cage matches (not saying this one, but in general). He first introduced the rule cuz his idea of the gimmick was two people locked in, he beats the shit out of his opponent so bad he leaves the guy lying for dead in the ring, and then he just walks out the door. IIRC, the current escape the cage version happened in his climactic cage matches against Superstar Graham, where Billy got the shit beaten out of him and fell out of the door and retained via fluke. It sure must have seemed like a really creative, excellent way at that time to keep the title on Graham while making sure Bruno looked strong, but for whatever reason a young Vince Jr saw that, absolutely loved it, and has now used that template in basically every cage match forever. When was the last time someone walked out the door after killing their opponent like Bruno originally used to?
  13. Ten blocking Reynolds from the picture isn't going to help with their infighting
  14. Also wasn't the story for the Liv-Carmella match that Carmella was the big star getting Liv on a PPV? That doesn't really hit when you are on the pre-show.
  15. I was actually hoping they would give Bliss the title because as shit as her gimmick and shtick are, she has done the best possible job of all of it and she is charismatic and likeable and fans go along with what she does, which is a great sign for a wrestler. I hate every second of it, but I cannot deny that she gets the big crowd reactions, except for the goofiest bits. She is certainly more over than Charlotte, who sucks the heat out of everyone she feuds with. But I forgot Alexa was wrestling in her hometown tonight, so not only did she have to be beaten, she also had to be humiliated as badly as possible in the Fiend-verse, which I guess is when your doll gets shattered.
  16. Someone else can explain Omega, but while there were big elements of the typical great Bryan Danielson match in this draw, it is not a typical Danielson match. A typical Danielson RoH title defence, for instance, used to have a lot of nasty matwork, something you specifically mentioned, where Bryan would do these delightful things like have his opponent in a stretch hold or a head/arm lock and then would just grind his knuckles over their face. A typical Danielson match also climaxes with a lot of MOVEZ and nearfalls, and to be fair, so does a big Omega match. With Bryan, there will usually be a big tope, a top rope spot, suplexes, some bombs and counters, etc. You saw glimpses of that with the top rope back suplex from him. Omega did that too. In fact, without going into his case, a lack of moves isn't an issue with Omega at all. To me, why this match was perfect, and why what they did was so impressive, was the fact that they gave enough (imo) while making it clear that they had a lot left in the tank. It was a flawless setup match for a PPV rematch. As someone said, achieving something like that is often more difficult than simply having a great match. With the Omega V-triggers, it's just something you have to buy with his matches. He hits nasty knees to the head often which look devastating, and they just don't pin the other person or even completely change the momentum of the match - apart from the ramp V-trigger. They are a "signature move" as my cousin who plays the WWE video games informs me, something akin to an Angle slam. I don't like it, but then Omega has never been one of my wrestlers, so I am not the right person to really explain it.
  17. Apparently the match started at 1.15 million viewers and ended at 1.5 million viewers, which is absolutely insane when you think about it. Like they increased the viewership by a number that's more than one-third of their usual audience.

    AEW Dark Megathread

Very true. I honestly don't know why they were booked against each other. Like whom is that supposed to showcase, exactly.
  19. Thought it was a fun sprint, nothing too good, but a nice watch. I still think the 8-man was the match of the night, although the Punk match obviously had the most heat. Highlight of the show by far was the Miro beatdown with Taz and Starks as the world's best cheerleaders
  20. I love Eddie Kingston so much
  21. I think it's fine, I've never had an issue with stables as long as there is some direction. I like that everyone has some loose affiliations. With the Dark Order, there's a clear angle they are building, even though I am not a fan of it. Matt Hardy and his dumbass group on the other hand can fuck off forever.
  22. Miro beating the shit out of Sammy and Fuego while Starks and Taz lose their shit laughing their ass off on commentary absolutely made my day, and it's only 9 AM here
  23. God Matt Hardy has ultimate go-away heat for me
  24. Yeah, unless the MMA guys are willing to job in the ring, this isn't worth anything at all. I think I liked this 8-man more than the 6-man
  25. Lol apparently the angle was really hot live but it came across as no one cared on TV. Masvidal has charisma but if you want to get MMA viewers, then there's no way you book fucking Junior Chigano Dos Santos as a heel against fucking Jericho and Hager
