The Thread Killer Talks Too Much: The Recaps
MoS replied to The Thread Killer's topic in Pro Wrestling
Austin and Taker couldn't have been talking about the October show when referring to the plane ride from hell, since Austin wasn't in the company at that time. They spoke about it in the context of Taker having taken some meds for the ear injury Austin had given him on the show, going to sleep on the plane, waking up to Angle and Vince wrestling, and then choking out Angle. That would indicate Vince was in fact on the plane on THE plane ride from hell. Meltzer did say he spoke with several people who were on the plane and he got conflicting testimonies right now, but in real time he had been told that Vince wasn't on the plane. -
Their official account then blocked him for tweeting that. It's teenage behaviour.

The Thread Killer Talks Too Much: The Recaps
MoS replied to The Thread Killer's topic in Pro Wrestling
This is interesting because on WOR Meltzer said he spoke to several people on the flight and he thinks they are conflating their memories of three separate transatlantic flights where shit like this happened. He said that in the context of whether Vince was on this flight or not. When he reported on this originally in 2002, he said Vince was not on it. He said he spoke to a lot of people after the episode and they were not sure and he got conflicting reports, so he would trust what he reported 20 years ago. JR's account seems to contradict Meltzer. Also another thing that contradicts Meltzer is the Austin-Taker podcast where they spke of the plane ride from hell, and they mentioned Vince was there and Angle was wrestling with him. How many such transatlantic flights would have been there for the talent to take in 2002? Did WWE tour Europe thrice in 2002? -
Well there are a lot of fans who haven't watched the RF shoots. That's several generations ago. I got online as a kid in the mid-00s and they were some of the first things I saw cuz they were probably at their peak relevance wise, so to speak. But it's been years since they were a thing. Shoot interviews became completely obsolete when wrestlers started doing podcasts. There are several younger fans who probably didn't check out anything wrestling related online until a decade after. Plus, publicly airing those views back then or even 5 years ago is one thing. Now, after the Speaking Out Movement happened in several mediums, including wrestling, while being a sitting office person in one of the major wrestling promotions? I don't see how it's not something where he deserves to eat shit.

Expecting someone to not flat out justify sexual assault is being a woke feminist these days apparently. Like the guy literally said if it was that big a deal she wouldn't have settled, but condemning that is just being on our moral high horse. The outrage about his comments is as much about how much pro wrestling and pro wrestlers have enabled this behaviour as it is about the guy himself. The fact that a beloved wrestler, popular in all locker rooms, thought it was okay to publicly say all of this because it's no different from what he has heard so many of his peers say about situations like this over the years is the point. The fact that it was commonplace in wrestling to have misogynistic angles and anyone from that generation justifying sexual assault wouldn't feel out of place because they almost certainly participated in such angles is the point. The fact that Tommy Dreamer still has shown no growth or evolution in his thought process because wrestling is still behind the times is the point. Blame Wokism all you wish; the outrage is perfectly valid and justified.

I hope Miro brags about having sex in that car like he had sex in that Russian tank. Really enjoyed this episode. Rampage has quickly established itself in feel and formatting as a different show to Dynamite, but imo with distinct but equally appealing features. It's a breeze to sit through and the main event first formula is different and in a way reminds me of some SNMEs.

WWE TV 09/13 - 09/19 NXT 2.0 debut and Monday Night Football massacre
MoS replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
Sean Ross Sapp said he has a 3-part story coming out next week about the USA/WWE/FOX relationship next week, something he has been working on for three months apparently, so wouldn't be surprised if there's some connection here. -
The fact that Linda was on the plane and he still felt comfortable enough to do shit like this is revealing. A lot of younger fans who haven't listened to the old shoot interviews and read the stories are absolutely finding out for the first time just what the "party culture" and "being on the road with the boys" really meant. I saw clips of the old Brutus Beefcake RF interview doing the rounds too where he joked and laughed about Shawn and Jannetty drugging women on the road, sexually assaulting them, and then throwing their unconscious bodies out of their hotel rooms. It's not just the stories, as discussed, it's the way they were always told. Thankfully, that culture seems to be changing, although there is a long way to go.
-
Lol cuz that ended up happening like 5 mins after you said it so perhaps working together we can somehow fantasy book AEW (I am aware it's a taped show, I am joking)

As lons as the shoot comments imply more than they assert, I am fine with them. I loved that segment, thought it gave Ruby some edge. Mark Henry's reaction after Miro talked about celebrating with God up high and with his wife down low was absolutely priceless.

Please please no more Matt Hardy TV time for the love of GOD. Best thing he did in the last 3 years is getting squashed like a bug by Randy Orton.

The tag match was great. Not a fan of Bunny getting TV time every show while so many other talented women who can't get TV time.

Least surprising thing that the clown who whines about 'carelords' is the one here whining about how sexual assault is no big deal and the victim totally overreacted to it. And of course when you are corrected and told there is new information revealed, you throw a tantrum and reveal you haven't and are not going to watch this tabloid shit, cuz you'd rather bury your head in sand. Since you're all about due process, even if Flair had 'merely' flashed himself, that is still sexual assault. The correct response to it is arrest and criminal proceedings, not laughter. But of course you are telling women how they should react to harassment. Wrestling will be a lot better place when there are fewer fans who treat women and their harassment as mere inconveniences to their regularly scheduled wrestling program.

Yeah but wanting to do it on the live broadcast of WrestleMania 17 is a bit much. Although chances that Vince goes on with Austin-Rock after a 45-min break anyway are really high.

You could see JR find a way to defend his old friend and just unable to find a way. For good reason. Tommy Dreamer tried to defend him and somehow ended up looking the worst out of everyone involved.

The MJF-Pillman Jr. storyline leans heavily into the DSOTR episode about Pillman. It's where MJF's whole Methanie thing comes from. The DSOTR episode discussed Brian Jr's upbringing and how his mom was an addict and didn't treat him well. MJF might even have mentioned DSOTR by name I think, and has certainly posted stills of Melanie from the episode on Twitter.

As @KawadaSmile posted in the other thread, Flair has threatened to go out shooting on the Renee podcast. I agree that AEW will look terrible if they bring him in, ignoring the DSOTR episode, while running one of their main storylines around another episode. At the risk of sounding impossibly cynical though, this has never stopped promotions in the past if the wrestler has a big enough name, so AEW will have to show it's different from pretty much every promotion ever.
-
He managed to damn Flair the most whioe ostensibly trying to defend him, that's how bad he came off as. With Flair, yeah, he shouldn't be brought in right after an episode about how he assaulted a woman - and let's be honest, it's part of a pattern with Flair, most other incidents are just not as documented - in a TV series which they explicitly acknowledge on their TV, to the point that one of their main stories right now revolves around an aired DSOTR episode. This is wrestling though, and wrestling promotions have historically never cared about this if the wrestler is a big enough star. Hopefully AEW is different, but it's a case of having to see it to believe it.

Setting aside the "beat Raw" part, that's a big number for what was essentially a setup show. Next week should do a gigantic number.
