With Corino, I think it isn't as much a cost savings thing as he had a conflict booking-wise. He could have been in the UK at the time. I agree with shoe, Caprice is a nice sub-in. I liked Stokely in his brief bit on the Atlanta show. I have no idea why Maria was used for that ADR match though, definitely a misfire.

Wrestling Culture Episode 65
bradhindsight replied to puropotsy's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Here's the PTBN link - thanks for your patience guys! http://placetobenation.com/wrestling-culture-podcast-65-our-king-of-the-indies-tournament/ -
Parv and Chad both put over the pace and I, somewhat surprising to myself, lean more towards Chad on this one. Keeping in mind I have no context for anything surrounding this match: Things I liked - - Brody and Hansen's frequent tags and tag-team offense. Hansen is just a monster in this match. These guys pretty much guzzled the Funks though. - Dory's hope spots and token offense. Best worked with Hansen. I loved that he got both guys up for suplexs on the third try. He took a beating in this match too. - The table spots and working the injury on Dory. - After having to watch his brother get his ass kicked and seeing neither really get any offense in on the heels, I don't blame Terry for grabbing the chain and wreaking havoc. Enough was enough. Things I didn't like: - Terry punch drunk selling 2 minutes into the match. - Aforementioned heel guzzling. A lot of repetition there too. ***3/4

Was this after the Brody dropkick when Bruiser was on offense? It looked like Terry was taking his drunk punches to a different level, he got up and essentially flopped into a back bump for no reason.

Global Wars Night 2: - KUSHIDA vs. WILL FERRARA - MICHAEL ELGIN vs. GEDO - THE KINGDOM vs. DOC GALLOWS & KARL ANDERSON - JUSHIN THUNDER LIGER vs. DALTON CASTLE - HIROSHI TANAHASHI & TETSUYA NAITO vs. ACH & MATT SYDAL - SHINSUKE NAKAMURA vs. RODERICK STRONG - BULLET CLUB (STYLES, BUCKS) vs. OKADA, RPG VICE Dalton Castle vs. Liger should be the best thing ever.

Going on past precedent, at least anything PPV/iPPV driven is usually on VOD pretty quick (like that night), although does anyone remember when they had last year's War of the Worlds up? So far each night has enough cool stuff where it's an easy purchase.

The Trade Marks Ep. #2 - May Be Flammable
bradhindsight replied to Bix's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Enjoyed the first one - thanks for the timestamps -
This past week's TV was real entertaining. You know Dalton Castle is a made man when they let him film a Super Beta Prostate spot. His delayed German - holy shit. I loved the Fish Tank segment also. ROH isn't afraid to do heel vs. heel (w/ Lethal only agreeing if they let him promote his DVD) - the insomnia stuff with Lethal's DVD was great. O'Reilly laughing at getting Lethal to draw out Briscoe. Just well done. Main was very good too - nice for Cedric, and once again ELGIN IS HEATLESS (but it was a good match).
-
Maybe in Toronto? No ACH in Philly either.

Complete night 2: - ADAM PAGE vs. WATANABE - MICHAEL ELGIN vs. KUSHIDA - KYLE O'REILLY vs. TETSUYA NAITO - “MR ROH" RODERICK STRONG vs. HIROSHI TANAHASHI - ROH WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS THE ADDICTION vs. "RAINMAKER" KAZUCHIKA OKADA & GEDO - FOUR CORNER SURVIVAL ROH WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPION JAY LETHAL w/ TRUTH MARTINI vs. SHINSUKE NAKAMURA vs. MARK BRISCOE vs. JUSHIN "THUNDER" LIGER - ROH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP JAY BRISCOE vs. BOBBY FISH - KINGDOM (Cole, Bennett, Taven) vs. BULLET CLUB (Bucks, AJ) 6-MAN Was really hoping for at least one Okada or Nakamura singles match.
-
First three matches of night 2 out: Adam Page vs. Watanabe Elgin vs. Kushida O'Reilly vs. Naito The more I look at those, the more I like them. Elgin is a necessary evil, he's going to be on the card and I like the dynamic there with Kushida.

In your defense Pete, we all got it when he said Charles in Charge.

Finally had a chance to finish the Supercard Showcase episode. Adam Cole summed up the Lethal match when he said "I've seen Jay look better." That's a shoot, brother. That whole thing was a disjointed mess. Cole on commentary was the best part. Joe/Jay was good - I'd go ***1/4 . Didn't seem like much, if anything, was clipped from that match. I would have bought the VOD for this match but no urgency now. You could tell the production was limited for this show, most likely due to the travel and expenses. No tron, no announcers, etc. edit: reading Shoe's recap, there definitely was some notable cuts on the live broadcast - namely the chair stuff and the swinging into the barricade.
-
Yeah that main event is awesome. Styles/Cole is interesting also - guessing a big Kingdom vs. BC schmooz.
-
I'm sure they'll be on VOD and DVD fairly quickly. The night one lineup is really good and leads me to think we'll get Nakamura and Okada singles matches for Wednesday. No AJ Styles on night 1 either?

Exile on Badstreet #3 = The Rebirth of the Indies

I was going to ask you how we could get Wes on the board, Kris - and here we are. Wes - I thought you were great on the show, thanks for doing it. Looking forward to more on the topic. -
So the Briscoes are not going to NXT. I had been brainstorming a large post on who the next ROH champ could be too. Alas...

PTBN Reaction Show: Invasion Attack 2015

THE STOMPER Was excited to see you join up on this Paul. I wish I could access your site during the day, I don't know why our filters here flag it as suspicious. -
Next week's ROH TV has the Briscoe/Samoa Joe and Lethal/Liger matches from Supercard of Honor. I don't understand the business decision to air the main event for free at all. Run the Jay promo from this week's TV and a recap from previous TV interactions and get people to head over and buy the VOD. TV this week was entertaining enough although the Marshall/ACH segment was a real slow spot. At least it played into the Decade/Corino angle. I like downshifting Elgin from the main event scene and having him facing off with War Machine. Eventually Hanson should get the rub there. I thought the whole handicap match and chair stuff was well done. I really like this Elgin heel character, even if he's heatless at the moment.

And quite frankly, I was thinking this is exactly why the Current WWE thread was perfectly fine. The board doesn't need a hundred treads like this one. Oh, anyway... A prominent wrestler abruptly retiring absolutely deserves its own thread.
