  1. Another benefit to putting Mania on the network is to push all the cable providers to offer their service. Think about it - if I use Company X and they DON'T carry the WWE network and I have to pay $60 on ppv versus signing up for $15 a month, I'm going to be pissed and call to complain. Of course in this entire scenario they are canabalizing their own profits from not having it strictly on PPV.
  2. The Manager Mt. Rushmore was a good conversation - even if Parv was outright dismissive of Sherri No one mentioned Paul E. as a potential fringe guy? His latest run (where they even used the super old school stipulation of "5 minutes alone w/ the manager") has him close in my opinion. Heenan, Cornette, Jimmy Hart are consensus locks with some good dialogue from everyone on who rounds things out.
  3. The Giant Swing one is killer on the eyes On the flip side I love khawk's and could watch it all day
  4. Parv talked about this around the Brody conversation: Matysik's Top 50 Wrestlers of All-Time - St. Louis Bias Edition #38 Pat O'Connor #32 Bruiser Brody #28 Fritz Von Erich #22 Dick the Bruiser (!) #12 Harley Race #9 Gene Kiniski #3 Ed "Strangler" Lewis
  5. Whoops - wrong episode. Mispost *deleted*
  6. I feel like there was Zahorian material left on the table here. But plenty of time for that (and I wish you guys let Johnny get this stuff in on this!).
  7. ^ This. Possibly my favorite Titans so far - definitely the funniest. Parv trying to get through his serious material with Johnny laughing uncontrollably was great.
  8. Finished this one up yesterday - fantastic show. Changing up the roles, as well as having a smaller crew, really had this one stand out. I'm tempted to re-dub it Shoe's St. Louis Showcase - I thought Pete was phenomenal given time to fully break down the matches and wrestlers. Hope you guys will put out a couple more off those Matysik discs. I skipped ahead on them to watch the Flair/Brody match and on the 0-10 Guzzling (my new favorite word) Scale, i'd say Brody was really only a 7.5 there. I thought Flair was solid in the second fall but I would have liked a little more from Flair at the end. To Brody's credit, I thought his stuff was really good. The power stuff at the end was great and from watching these discs, I'm a mark for his one-armed slam (although wouldn't he inflict more damage if he used two arms to slam a guy?) and flying knee drop finish. I'll save the rest of my analysis there but liked that one to around ***1/2-***3/4. I thought the Brody and Von Erich discussions were real good supplements to the watched materials. Nice work boys.
  9. I thought Will and Scott Keith were great guests here and Justin and Scott let them showcase their stuff while steering the conversation very well. Will brought some fresh ideas (to me) around the end of WCW and how poorly they executed the seeds of the Invasion. They could have kept WCW at the top of mind of those now-missing viewers with the DDP idea although I think the big obstacle to that was that the WWF was actively trying to find a spot for a separate brand at the same time - including having tapings scheduled for a strictly-WCW show. The whole invasion thing would have been different had they secured that Friday 11pm timeslot on TNN.
  10. I'm siding with the WWE on this Bagwell stuff. Buff planned a match for 30 minutes that was completely scrapped because he couldn't posture to the camera? So just do it to the crowd in the arena instead. How hard of an audible is that? I'm not wrestler but what the heck did he have planned for the actual wrestling that was so flipped by this that it turned into such a shit show?
  11. Wanted to share this one separately as Steven (Grimmas) put together a nice piece (w/ videos!) that chronicle Dusty's career. http://placetobenation.com/the-wrestler-sn...m-dusty-rhodes/
  12. Going to give Stuttsy some props here. He mentioned on their latest pod about checking old VHS credits and tracking down some of these guys on social media and dude made it happen in about 48 hours.
  13. Ours is an auction league with player salaries and contracts with a cap so it's pretty engaging. I'm on the CBS Live Scoreboard every day of the season (the three-day ASB aside). Very addicting.
  14. It's interesting, I definitely agree with MitB 2011 but I wonder if the fact that it is pretty recent is held against it in these conversations. I know in the PTB PPV draft (granted there were limitations on the different categories, plus the idea was to diversify your programming) MitB '11 was around the 21st or 22nd pick with No Way Out 2001, Canadian Stampede and Fully Loaded 2000 taken before it in the non-big 4 slot. NWO 01 and CS are pretty good company. Chad - where would you tier MitB '11?
  15. This one was a ton of fun (catching up). Love the fantasy baseball talk by James and Pete. As James knows, that's one of my favorite hobbies and something I really gear up for each season (keeper league).
  16. I'm guessing he previously wrote a really big piece on him and wanted to shoehorn it into the book?
  17. You don't need to replace most of them. Half of these workers aren't even on television most of the time, the ones who are just make up filler roles. Shorten Raw would be the obvious solution, but since there is no chance of that happening then invest more time in the ones you have left on the roster. Less squash matches, less pointless matches and more actual feuds, well written, well booked that play out over a few weeks. The roster is unbelievably bloated, and really needs some fresh blood. Give some young wrestlers a chance, and introduce them properly and slowly, rather than push them to the moon and then job them out to the moon which is the current ridiculous cycle. I'll respond to some of the more specific points later. The other factor here is two house show tours. That's where guys like JTG earn their paycheck.
  18. But if you're a fan of Where the Big Boys Play and want to hear what an expert Chad is in Atlanta sports stadium setups, those 14 minutes are for you.
  19. Congrats on making the Observer's daily update again boys.
  20. Heck, they have how many already-produced documentaries from their DVDs? They could easily cycle them in two hour blocks, mixing in legends roundtables, etc.
  21. After listening to Johnny on a bunch of shows now, I finally pinpointed how I imagine him when he's talking. It's a mix of cadence, humor, being totally chill and grateful dead fandom (hence a more retro look). I don't want to ever see a real pic, it would ruin this for me. Johnny Sorrow = Johnny Fever doing wrestling podcasts
  22. ^ agree with Zoo. Titans/WTBBP/Goodwill/WWTP/PTB - it's like listening to NPR for me. I put it on any time I'm driving - maybe sometimes on headphones at work. I listen to *every* podcast in pieces like that.
  23. Sweet Jesus Kelly, Parv needs to get you on the payroll for those kind of hours.
