Between the Sheets #53 (July 20-26, 1987)
The Chief replied to KrisZ's topic in Publications and Podcasts
"I had to get my hair fixed the way he likes it" Precious on Flair I thought you guys would be all over that line -
No one cares about coventional PPV anymore besides UFC and boxing. There are still rural areas of the country that don't have the minimum internet requirements to run the network and rely on PPV. IIRC many of the PPV providers dropped the non-Big Four PPV's. For those that didn't I'm just wondering what they do in this case.
-
I thought this was a really fun show and for once I'm looking forward to their TV this week.
-
They do not give a shit about timing their shows anymore. Do these still air on conventional PPV?
-
I liked that segment a lot. Wasn't expecting to.

Is Cesaro's gimmick going to be that he can't cut promos? Or was that legit? He couldn't go a sentence without stumbling over his words.

The Jim Ross Is A Grouchy Hateful Vile Human Being thread
The Chief replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
Ross can be an ok podcast host at times but he really needs to stick to just interviewing males. The guy is seriously creepy whenever he has a female guest on. Terri Runnels was this week's guest and Ross cranks the misogyny up to eleven while making "not that there's anything wrong with that" statements to cover his ass. -
Heath could make a great gimmick out of that if they go that route. Show him sitting in the crowd on both shows.

It was a good Lucha...... thing. Owen Hart would be proud

Naomi was my guess for dead last, damn. Now I'm gonna say it's. .... Bo Dallas
-
And Naomi, right?

Pretty sure that Ascension pick was a mistake, wasn't Smackdowns turn
-
I was hoping Zayn and Owens would have been drafted to different rosters. They've been married to each other for their entire WWE careers and I want to see what they can do with different opponents.
-
Ever since Raw went to three hours they have had multiple 10+ minute matches in a single show. The 4 minute Raw match hasn't really been a thing in years. Its the exception now, not the rule.
-
I could also see this and i'd be interested because there's one Uso who I think could be a good singles worker but I can't remember which one it is. LOL, incredible
-
Are there any notable omissions on the list? I noticed the WWE.com Fantasy draft had Ryback Calling it now, Xavier Woods gets split from New Day and turns heel a la Miz in 2009. And for sheer WTFery, we get repackaged Usos on separate shows.

Did he work as Cody Runnels in developmental?

UFC 200: Because Lesnar is a Pro Wrestler
The Chief replied to Ricky Jackson's topic in Pro Wrestling
How would a WWE suspension even work for someone like Lesnar? -
Maluta held his own, that was a great star vs upstart match. I hope WWE signs him if they haven't already.
-
The Final Deletion worked because it was so batshit insane and over the top. As usual, WWE only understands things in the broadest terms. They played their version completely straight and it just didn't work. That would have worked MUCH better if they just shot it "on location" from one camera.

On a somewhat related topic, what is the exact time line of Pat Patterson in the WWF as a booker? I can think of at least 3 instances when he stepped down/retired/etc but I don't think I've ever heard of one happening in 1998.

One of my favorite things in wrestling is when guys who are completely forgotten about come back from nowhere and get a decent run. Think Dutch Mantel in 2013. I'm loving Paul Ellering of all people in 2016 managing a dominant heel tag team. Even the most jaded fans didn't see that coming. Every now and then WWE throws the fans a bone, this Bob Backlund/Darren Young pairing might be similar. Who knows, maybe in 2018 we'll all be raving about how shocked we are that Rick Martel transitioned into an awesome manager on Smackdown...

Hasn't Russo recently said numerous times SWEAR ON MY CHILDREN and SWEAR ON MY GOD DAMN GRAVE that he never wants to work in the wrestling business again? What a joke.

Roman won't come back and ignore the suspension, if anything he's going to come back and cut a promo about how he made a mistake and ask for forgiveness from his fans while the crowd tears him to shreds. It would probably actually be better if he did ignore it. Not looking forward to "STE-ROIDS" chants overwhelming the shows. They will continue to push him as babyface and chalk it up to fans just being silly. This company is so stubborn this suspension won't change a thing.
