The Jim Cornette Experience
The Chief replied to flyonthewall2983's topic in Publications and Podcasts
That sounds appalling. I never listen to Cornette pre-interview. Nor Jericho, Ross or Austin. Don't want to sound harsh, but I'm not there for their musings on life etc. Partially agree, Jericho is cringe worthy until the interview starts where he can be fantastic. I don't listen to Ross or Cornette at all. But I listen to Austin's entire episodes. Some of his rants about performance enhanced rats and finding parking spots at the grocery store are hilarious. I look forward to his BS episodes as much as I do his interviews. -
Ok, so this is kind of weird... http://www.pwinsider.com/article/87590/tna-impact-wrestling-moving-days.html?p=1

A Sheamus RVD tag team sounds dreadful.

Was wondering if anybody caught Main Event? What happened with the Uso's open challenge?

Damn, I thought we were gonna get a "you're not even real cops" beatdown ala HHH/Bryan from earlier in the year.

What does Bobby Heenan's cancer have to do with the wrestling industry? I hate articles like this. -
Good Will Wrestling: Fixing the WWE Part Three

I like the Cena corporate champ idea, like what they did with Orton but you know, not shitty. My only concern is that if Cena takes Orton's spot, we may get dejected babyface Orton going after Cena. And even though the dynamic would be fresh, I don't think anyone would want to see that again. -

Don't usually comment while I'm still listening, but HOLY SHIT you're doing a Mark Henry retrospective! This needs to drop yesterday!!! -
Steve Austin always praises Dunn.
-
The Dunn/HHH war is relatively recent, but Dunn as an asshole has been an internet thing for quite some time, probably started with Cornette's rants.

Regal's stance on this is that Goldberg was only used to doing two minute squashes but they wanted Regal to go longer and give a competitive match. Apparently, Regal gave Goldberg openings to do stuff and Goldberg just froze. So Regal starts laying shit in because they both can't just stand there. Apparently Goldberg apologized after the match, then changed his story much later on.

Race showed up as NWA Champ on WWF TV in 1980, he was even wrestling squashes. They kind of alluded to a one world champion situation with him challenging Backlund. I haven't seen all of the TV so I'm not sure if they prioritized one belt over the other.

Googling "who was Rocky Mountain Thunder" is what originally led me to this board -
Is it possible Strongbow was working in the office at this point?

The Rusev/Swagger segments continue to be great without getting repetitve. And I'm somebody who normally hates the jingoistic stuff.

Good Will Wrestling: Fixing the WWE Network Part Two

So all they're doing on Raw is pushing the price point. You guys are spot on. Show some respect for your audience, WWE. -
Steph has been getting crazy heat, Brie should be fine

Been meaning to reply, I agree with all of this. Supporting a terrible product is bad for the long term health of the industry. If you go out in the wilderness and read what TNA fans are writing it's very telling. When you ask a TNA fan what they like about TNA, they often say "it's not WWE!" They tell you what it isn't, they can't tell you what it is. They can't say what they actually like about it. It's not good for wrestling when the bar is set that low. Just existing and having a TV deal should not be enough for supporting a product. Stuff like this leads to the continuous employment of guys like Russo and that is never a good thing. You want to support a product that is not WWE? Go pump money into your local Indy. Tell your cable provider that you enjoy that Indy that's on at 3AM and how you think it deserves a better time slot. Supporting awful wrestling sends the message that it is ok to produce awful wrestling.

WWE released a WrestleMania III Championship Edition DVD years back, it was basically WrestleMania III done pop-up video style. It had some build featured in the extras. Do SummerSlam 1998 just like that. You don't even have to go crazy with the build segments, just a little bit of padding/interviews to even out the block to three hours. Good point about confusing your audience by advertising stuff like this. If I'm a casual fan, I would wonder why SummerSlam 1998 is being advertised in a specific time slot when I can watch it at anytime. Maybe I would assume that there's extra stuff added like what I mentioned above, then I would be disappointed when it's the same show. Kind of what you guys mentioned about not exactly false advertising, but close. -
It does work for guys who have good merch and are larger than life like Austin or Hogan. But guys like Orton, Christian, Del Rio etc shouldn't. I guess I didnt't make my point clear, but it does add to somebody's appeal if you see them outside of the wrestling bubble. I like how Punk would wear shirts of bands he liked. It makes them feel more like real people, does that make sense?
-
Kind of wish guys could do shit like that on the main roster more often. It looks so cheesy and markish when guys wear their own shirts.

AJ and Brie don't look starved to death. Some girls are small, doesn't mean they're on death's door.
