Part of me wishes one of these years they'd run a 30 person food fight and called it a "Battle Royale".

On Cornette's podcast this week they did an interview with the series creator. It's a good listen in general, very informative about the creative process on the show and he hints that there are some brand new secrets about Montreal revealed in that episode.

WWE TV 03/25 - 03/31: Angle vs. Joe! Angle vs. Styles! TNA! TNA! TNA!
peachchaos replied to The Thread Killer's topic in WWE
It's the Goldberg-Nash of TV finales. Got a good pop at the time in insolation but doesn't leave you satisfied upon rewatching the entire series. A great moment in time, but considering they're doing a prequel I think the finish will be seen as even more of a cop-out gimmick in the years to come. It was sort of perfect for the moment but I think eventually even Chase would admit he'd have done it differently in terms of telling the story of this family. I was a fan of Sopranos and the finish at the time but it's charm has worn off on me for whatever reason. Same with Breaking Bad. I think I'm just tired of shows that celebrate assholes. -
I could see Taker being a surprise entrant in The Andre since there's only 29 announced so far.

The build to 8 is some of the best for that era, and a sentimental favorite of mine too. Everyone seemed to enjoy it upon rewatch for the yearbooks. There were some different directions they could have gone with all the hot feuds coming out of 1991, but what they churned out was highly entertaining. Best press conference ever. Both Sid and Savage's reactions to the announcement are top notch. edit: also how they built Sid up as a contender to Hogan by just having him stretcher all of his wimpys is gold

100% agreed. At the time, I thought the end of The Sopranos was sheer brilliance, a total work of art. Which it is. It's also a huge cop-out that resolves nothing and leaves the viewer feeling empty. Through time, I've come to prefer what they did with the Lost ending (or Breaking Bad or Mad Men) where everything is wrapped up and you can leave the show without any lingering questions. Almost forgot this was a wrestling board, so... Asuka, WWE, Charlotte, blah blah blah. -

Right on, I totally misread your initial statement and connected invisible dots that don't exist. Apologies to you on that front. -

Can we talk more about how dope Access looks this year? Harper vs. Dijak, for one. -

If you're watching clips then you're following the product, for sure. It's not entirely the same experience, of course. -
Yeah with only those matches it would be like the perfect WrestleMania: TakeOver.

I get the same enjoyment out of WWE as I do New Japan or OTT or F1RST or any of the current products I dig. None of them are similar and I judge them all accordingly on their own merits. It's just me though. I just want every wrestling fan to be happier! -

Accurate. Better to just ignore the noise at this point since the haters are gonna hate. -

I edited my post to include the term "false narrative", which is more accurate. Read the Nitro book if you haven't. -

A pretty straight forward booking move to build towards Starrcade. It all makes sense storyline wise. A great moment, for sure. -

This is fake news. A false narrative. None of the booking hurt WCW half as much as what happened behind the scenes at Turner. The company was doomed to fail no matter what they produced. -
assuming all those teams will be in the Andre

Okay, this is the definition of revisionism. If you watch the footage, the crowd goes from an 8 to a 10 when Hall brings out the cattle prod and it's fucking glorious. Not a single person in the audience cares what this means for "business". And why would they? They're getting their money worth and then some. Would have loved to have been there. -
Unironically and unapologetically hyped for all of this myself.

I thought the entire concept of Dexter was terrible, so I avoided it entirely and what's more, I don't even comment about it on the internet! -

And this totally invalidates any critique you would make of those endings since you never watched the series. Imagine just seeing the end of the Sopranos and thinking "that's terrible!" Totally unwarranted criticism since the end provides no context for the rest of the series. -

You can go the reverse with this too. Goldy never recovered? So what? We have that moment, and it's an incredible moment. Most people ignore this when they talk about the match. There is this trend with wrestling to just follow the business narratives and ignore what actually happens on screen. I think that's short sighted and ignores the actual good parts of what is the wrestling experience. -

No way. You can't just read the synopsis of a TV show and then judge it. You have to see every episode for yourself. The best parts of pro wrestling have absolutely NOTHING to do with booking decisions. It comes from sitting there and watching a match and interacting with the live audience. Even the performances are only validated when the crowd participates. I'd venture to say many wrestling fans have never even seen Goldberg-Nash. They just know it was a "bad booking decision" so therefore it must be trash. But it's not at all. It's a red hot crowd split 50/50 that pops HUGE for Nash's win. You can whine and argue as a fan all you want and it won't change what the actual footage shows. If you're just "following along" you missed the overwhelming pop Charlotte's title win received. -
Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
peachchaos replied to TravJ1979's topic in Pro Wrestling
This is out there on all the major rainstorm networks. I really enjoyed this while watching it and kinda loathe it upon reflection. It's very well produced and they got all the right talking heads but at the end of the day this just feels like a hollow re-telling of a pro wrestling angle that they're trying to retcon as a shoot. It'd be like listening to Triple H and Stephanie talk about their relationship only using references from their on-screen characters. A pleasant watch, but nothing earth-shattering really.
