Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3
cheapshot replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
To me, via twitter, he comes across as a poor man's CM Punk with his putdowns etc. Basically he's a bit of a cunt. I see why he is still being used on F4W, as he is kinda relevant still, but hopefully he'll get phased out in the next few years like Buddy Wayne did previously. -
To clarify, BT Sport have rights to the Champions League FROM 2015. AND their channel is free to people who have BT Internet, which according to the market share is 31.5% of the UK Broadband market. They are, like others all after new content to fill up schedules, but I just cannot see them leaving Sky at this stage of the game, especially with the links they have with Sky to Sky Box Office. BT would have to come in a huge offer to turn WWE's head. The deal between WWE and Sky is up in about 12 months. The two have been partners for over 25 years now. I just can't see WWE completely walking away from Sky. I could however, see them dish out certain programming to other channels, but not the whole caboodle, which is what BT would require. Plus with WWE doing more "original" programming such as Total Divas and the enigma that is Legends House, neither would be a fit on BT Sports, but would be totally fine on Sky Living or Sky One.

The deal isn't up in the UK. They'd be stupid to leave Sky anyway if it was, unless it was to move to a free to air channel, which isn't likely.

Disney most likely equates to ESPN or A&E to be honest. RAW won't be following Fantasia any time soon.

Many of you will be aware that the TV rights deals to RAW, Smackdown, Total Divas etc. will be coming up for grabs with a decision scheduled for March 4th. (unless they reach a deal to stay on USA for RAW which has to be made by Feb 15th) Potential suitors include Disney, Viacom and Discovery. The Variety article that has been doing the rounds over the last day or so was clearly penned by WWE P.R so anything in that should be taken with a pinch of salt. Where do people see the products ending up and also do you think that they'll increase the rights fee's significantly in line with other sports / companies ?

This is probably one of the most entertaining things they've done in ages.

Not sure if you've seen this ever so random matchup from 1989 FLORIDA~! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXfqygTWOW0 Mike Awesome vs. Al Perez. -
Billy Gunn and Hot Chocolate (the drink, not the band).

Ha ha Al has become kind of a running joke of WTBBP fans. I will say that I think his WCW stuff is largely decent to good including the actual in -ring match of him under the hood as the Black Scorpion. I decided to seek out some of his other stuff in World Class and Puerto Rico as a result and was less than impressed. I come away thinking that Al could have been a good worker and had the tools to be but wasn't willing to put the work in to achieve that. In your opinion, what would you say is his best match in particular? I'd like to revist some of his work, as all I really remember of Al is jobbing in WWF. A side note, it appears he is currently employed by UPS. I hope he delivers a parcel one day to someone on PWO. -
You should of shown him Fraggle Rock when he was 6, it would of blown his mind.

I wonder how the data was collected and if it was collected in 2008 when Taker and Edge were the main event of Wrestlemania. That was the first thing I thought of when i saw that list. Also wondering if Vijay Singh won a golf tournament of note around that time. Vijay Singh was the leading money winner in 2008 and won the FedEx Cup, so it sounds like you've hit the nail on the head as it pertains to that year.

I liked it recently when people were watching the *I THINK* 15 year re-release of the Titanic movie, they didn't realise it was based on true events and it blew their minds. Lots of examples of this were on twitter at the time. Quite depressing.

Big fan of 1989, so I am going to go back and listen through these episodes. Chad, Why were you such a fan of Al Perez's work, am I missing something? -
I have yet to hear anyone come out and say they were a fan of the Little House On The Prairie re-runs. Hardly surprising. Those re-runs were all over early morning C4 schedules for years here in the UK as well.

AJ styles in WWE, would you like to see it?

Case in point, Memphis used to run for about 3 cents a week and the lads all ate potatoes. Good times! -
I love this thread.

It's well worth it Matt! I will start adding some thoughts of some of his matches in the new year.

E.Watts, to me, is closer to looking like a standard man in the street than to an athlete (or to what I imagine what an athlete looks like). I'm with JVK on this one. But maybe in the context of the time he would look closer to one.

People have said this for years, but I don't see it, or hear it, as the case may be. Is it because of his voice, I have heard him likened to Kermit the frog? Again I don't hear that. Care to elaborate on why he is annoying? I think there are FAR FAR FAR more annoying personalities out there. But I do appreciate everyone is different, I'm just interested as nobody has ever elaborated on comments such as this that I've seen online previously. And no, I'm not Chico.

Did you notice Dave completely no sell Bryan when he tried to get a word in edgeways at the start of the interview? Ouch. I honestly think if Dave has something to say, Dave is going to say it, even if it means talking over someone else. This may work in person, but doesn't work as well on a podcast as it doesn't sound very professional at all. But that's Dave I guess, he's been like this forever, so I doubt he is going to change now.

Thank you so much for these OJ, as I have wanted to dip my toe into pre 1990 Lucha, and this will help me immensely.

I think 2014 is going to be looked back on as a extremely important year in the history of Wrestling, due to the network launch and how the ripple effect of it influences other things within the business.

"It" isn't rocket science then, is it... Cena can do or say what the fuck he wants out there. Just because somebody like Sheamus or Cody Rhodes may not have had the confidence to deviate from script (big presumption, for all we know they may have discussed the likelihood of something like that happening in DB's hometown) doesn't mean they don't get "it". "IT" I merely said that Cena gets "it", as it pertains to going with the crowd, on the final segment of the go home show to promote the PPV. I don't for one second think that others wouldn't do the same if they were in the same position. It was just an observation.

Fit Finlay seemed to do alright.

Great news Will. Is the show that's in the can 1992: Year in Review?
