Who should have come along at a different time or place?
tofu_chipmunk replied to JaymeFuture's topic in Pro Wrestling
Brian Pillman would likely have the chance to headline today that he didn't get in the early to mid-90s. -
Who should have come along at a different time or place?

It theoretically would have been fun to see Henry and Patera be a traveling powerhouse match a la Andre vs. Ernie Ladd. -
Now, Ambrose's hoodie went over on the WWE Monopoly game at WWEshop.com. That's a pretty big win.

Greatest Upsets In Professional Wrestling?

Not sure if this qualifies, but Jacques Rougeau beating Hulk Hogan clean in 1997 stands out, Montreal or no Montreal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VO-7VmwK7cU -
Nicest person in wrestling

After not helping his old tag team partner Dr. Isaac Yankem during his early WWF struggles, Snow may qualify as an anti-dentite. -

I've always heard the best things about Bobby Eaton. -
I sure hope it's the bottom half.

The people making the decisions are in favor of it, so there you go.

"Heel" is just lazy 2014 shorthand for "morally compromised sports entertainment superstar/diva".

I could see the thinking being that Rollins has a complete ass-kicking coming for breaking up The Shield, but that it is Reigns who will ultimately dole it out instead of Ambrose.

They could use action figures for a visual demonstration. Only if they use the old LJN action figures. The lack of poseability may spell trouble, but if the Warlord figure is used, then the joints not bending will be anatomically accurate.

As I recall, there was a fair amount of grousing about how Cena/Wyatt played out at WM30.

Isn't that basically what happens now with the Royal Rumble and the "Road to Wrestlemania"? I guess Summerslam would be kind of like the All-Star Game.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3
tofu_chipmunk replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
Aren't the "Tributes" books just edited versions of the obits published in the Observer? Maybe a one-month subscription to the Observer site might be the better option, assuming the JYD issue is online. (Anyone know?) One thing to be aware of though: the newsletters are probably much messier grammatically than the books. I sure hope not. The first one was okay, but Tributes 2 was formatted horribly. And by horribly, I mean formatted worse than one of Dave's normal bios. If someone didn't know a good bit of wrestling history, last names of other wrestlers are dropped into the obits with no prior reference. -
Wasn't that John Gaburick?

If Ambrose can't get a Condiment Commando gimmick over, then that's on him.

I don't think there has been an "official" one, but when Steve Yohe was running his Top 100 wrestling stars project late last year, Jose Fernandez' contribution to that effort included 50ish luchadors. I've added them below, including the ranks in the overall 100 that he submitted. I left Rey Misterio Jr. and Eddie Guerrero on the list for arguments' sake. I did remove lucha-inspired Satoru Sayama and Jushin Liger. 1.-El Santo 9.-Blue Demon 13.-Mil Mascaras 17.-Perro Aguayo 18.-El Solitario 19.-Ray Mendoza 20.-Rene Guajardo 23.-Rey Misterio Jr. 24.-Negro Casas 26.-Canek 28.-Carlos "Tarzan" Lopez 33.-Gori Guerrero 34.-Cavernario Galindo 36.-The Black Shadow 40.-Villano III 41.-Dos Caras 42.-Konnan 43.-Cien Caras 45.-El Charro Aguayo 46.-Los Infernales: Satanico 47.-Los Infernales: Pirata Morgan 48.-Los Infernales: MS-1 49.-El Hijo del Santo 50.-El Rayo de Jalisco 54.-Eddie Guerrero 55.-Anibal 56.-Dr. Wagner, Jr. 57.-Dr. Wagner, Sr. 58.-El Angel Blanco 59.-L.A. A valid question is to what degree MMA and politics should be considered pro wrestling. MMA is about getting an audience hyped up to pay for a fight, while a gubernatorial race is about working the marks with the mic and video promos to get the desired gate turnout.

The Conquistadors - Did they ever win a match on tape?
tofu_chipmunk replied to W2BTD's topic in Pro Wrestling
It was a good piece of booking for the double-turn as the Conquistadors were the only tag team on that Survivor Series team that could look sympathetic as the heretofore face Powers of Pain beat the hell out of them. -
Not a prolific wrestling career, but Bill Kazmaier had a great record in the World's Strongest Man competitions.

The Conquistadors - Did they ever win a match on tape?
tofu_chipmunk replied to W2BTD's topic in Pro Wrestling
Only guessing, but losses to the Conquistadors may have been a test for the Rockers to see if they would "play nice" this time around after their ill-fated cup of coffee with the WWF the year prior. -
The real question is whether Del Rio comes back with a monster push once Paul and Stephanie take over.

Are you kidding? After a slow-burn two-year build, Battleground is the best heel in the company.
