WWE TV 07/15 - 07/21 Flipping burgers to become Ambassador
Zoo Enthusiast replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
Would likely re-sub for it. -
My first thought when Jericho came out in the mask was that the Dark Order would work well as stooges for him.
-
Just finished this one. I thought it was better than FyterFest, mostly because I really liked the main event and thought the 6-man and Omega matches were good, though definitely not great. Definitely some down moments. The women's division continues to be quite terrible. Hopefully Kylie Rae can help to turn it around in her hometown, because she is easily the best they have. I thought SCU was also really bad, but I think I've also possibly hit my saturation point with the Lucha Bros. This thing gave spotfests a bad name. Jericho certainly should win at All Out, IMO. Hangman feels like when WWE tries to heat up a midcarder for a one-off PPV match much more than he feels like a long-term Top Guy at this point. Awful promo aside, Jericho just has more to offer. Also, I'm probably going to cry if I get to see Dustin tear the house down in Chicago. I'm an unabashed mark for him so I just hope he's working the show. He has so much left to give. I'd love to see him vs Darby or one of the other younger guys in the opener. This was my favorite Bucks match in a long, long time (probably Wrestle Kingdom in 2018?). All-in-all, still very optimistic about where they are headed.

Is this a compliment? Because I think this is a compliment.

Yeah, the presentation/name of Dark Order is terrible thus far. SSB’s were becoming one of the best teams working in the States until their Visa issues. That said, the Bucks definitely brought them in because they want to work with them (and have had great matches with them in the past), so I expect them to right the ship one way or another eventually, even if that means basically scrapping the gimmick. Of course, having them have an actual match tonight could go a long way in helping them getting off the ground. On paper, the six-man and the Bucks/Rhodes matches look like the sure standouts. Omega/CIMA has definite potential if they work a straight match. I’m not particularly interested in the women’s matches but so far that whole division has been a miss for me aside from the Joshi workers on Double or Nothing. Hangman has definitely not felt like the top guy they (seemingly) want to make him and I’m not optimistic that will change after tonight unless Sabian really goes all-out to make Page look great.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4

Good shows all the time. They book huge names and have some great matches. Been going for quite a while. Pretty much a super indy. Their whole library is up on HighSpots. -
I think if they were talking about bringing back lapsed fans, they were talking about attitude era fans. As far as the real sports presentation, I assume Jim Ross said something about that? I’ve always assumed AEW was going to essentially be PWG on TV, which I am down for. It hasn’t been THAT good thus far but I’ve enjoyed everything, I think they have hit the mark much more often than not thus far (though for the record, I also think stuff like the Librarian thing and the stupid thing they are doing with the Smash Bros are terrible). The shows have had a lot of variety and that has also been good. Great commentary thanks to Excalibur. No major TV promotion that I have followed has made a show that I have loved from start to finish week-to-week so I don’t expect that from anyone. As soon as Dustin hit that gusher, my friend and I decided there was no way we could miss All Out in person. I’m still pretty much just as pumped as I was then.

New. Boom. Period. -
Is anyone up in arms about it?

Give him a no-show job as a producer. Everyone wins.

Wrestling in unusual contexts

CM Punk cut a promo video for NBC for their pre-race show for the race today at Chicagoland Speedway. -
Agreed. I was pumped thinking they were going to do Darby/Cody again in Chicago and then Tye Dillinger walked out. Do that match in Canada or something. Also, totally wild that my most anticipated matches going into both AEW shows were the Cody Rhodes matches. Literally couldn’t stand the guy before. At this rate I am going to be walking into the Sears Centre with platinum blonde hair.

Well, it happened in America.
-
Penelope is with Kip Sabian now.
-
I was dreading that I was going to have to sit through Moxley/Omega live back when they did the first angle. Now I am pumped to see it.
-
How was this match? If nothing else, I care about Dozer and Tucky.

We Don't Know Wrestling SUPERTHREAD!
Zoo Enthusiast replied to concrete1992's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Thought the discussion of NJPW/ROH/AEW/PWG on this week’s show with Quentin & Tim was awesome. Freedom of movement for workers is a big thing that I was concerned about when the details of AEW started coming out and I don’t feel like any other shows have discussed that in a meaningful way prior to this. A lot of fans (and media members) are really desperate for AEW to succeed (which I get) and were/are really willing to overlook or not discuss these important questions from the perspective of labor. The Bucks and Cody aren’t workers in this equation. They are the bosses. What kind of benefits are truly being offered for everyone else? What benefits are universal for all workers? I get the feeling that this is going to end up looking a hell of a lot closer to WWE from a worker’s perspective than anyone wants to acknowledge at this time. -
The Jim Cornette Experience
Zoo Enthusiast replied to flyonthewall2983's topic in Publications and Podcasts
About 90% of the podcast market is saturated with people talking about how much WWE sucks. It’s low hanging fruit. Lots of people just love to listen to that, so I can see why it’d be an easy thing for Cornette to do since it’s pretty much his gimmick anyhow. -
Pretty bleak times that the TV thread on a week before a PPV can’t even get two pages of discussion. Certainly seems like this is the coldest WWE has been in several years. Hard to imagine how anyone can be confident that anything will be any better when they move to Fox.
