Your Wrestling Pet Perfections/ Utter Love
Zoo Enthusiast replied to Johnny Sorrow's topic in Pro Wrestling
Memphis Dirty, grimy southern wrestling in general The absurdity of it all Excalibur's commentary in PWG Bodyslams with an arm trapped behind the guy's back Old school crowds Blood, guts, kicking, and punches Lance Russell Eric Embry -
Yeah, he is terrible. The problem is that WWE likely has no interest in him (much like NJPW does), so he'll be having bad matches in all the major indies for years to come. Until he signs with a MLB team, of course.

It's a Shoemaker invention, or at least he is the one that most heavily pushed it. I don't think many people actually use it in non-mocking tones, though.
-
Love the album, as well.

I have always wished Barbershop Window or one of those places would make those Tully shirts. They made the "Damn I Am Good" one a couple years ago.

Kaitlyn would be another that left, who occasionally could be pretty good.

Be sure to let us know what you make of the footage as well as they show itself. That's one of the things that I really hope to do with Titans is get people actually watching stuff from the 70s. I feel like we managed to do that with the Bruno promos, but not always sure how much people actually watch, y'know. Understandable when it's endless Philly cards opened by The Baron, but this shit deserves to be seen -- I especially like that Hawk and Hansen vs. Weaver and Neilsen tag that Pete was high on. If anyone else watched it, let us know! Finally watching this now. The opening tag is fucking great. Also LOVE the second Valentine/Wahoo match with the leg break. Watching some of the promos, I feel like some on the romanticism showered on un-scripted, extemporaneous, etc. promos is misplaced, or at the very least comes from a place of nostalgia/rose-colored glasses. I want to give this some attention on the promo round tables starting up towards the end of this month. I think there's a huge transition between promos in the 70s and the 80s and then another one in the late 80s. No one has really done much granular analysis on that, but it seems to me that the subdued promo style of the 70s gave way to the top-of-the-lungs shouty style of the 80s and somehow it got there through Dusty, Flair and Billy Graham. I am sure part of my perception of the promos comes from having lived through the Hogans, Austins, Rocks, etc. John Valentine is the one that stuck out to me, because I have always heard guys like Bruce Mitchell rave about him as a promo and praising his believability, credibility, and such. It's obviously a very small sample size, though. Flair was Flair, of course.

I feel like this is them trolling people. It's so deliberate, and I also can't see a scenario where they'd let her in the ring if that were the case. For sure, but AJ and Bayley having a baby would be so adorbs.

I thought the Punk/Bryan/Kane stuff and the wedding was her best run. I think the Bryan kiss at Mania was a great moment, and part of the reason Sheamus got a nice pop when he won until fans realized they were actually outraged.
-
Shit, people have to pretend she was great just because she retired? I always thought that was saved for a person who died. Your main gripe seems to be with WWE, which is much more fair. At least the thread didn't devolve into a bunch of rapey comments, on the bright side.
-
I thought as a character she had some good moments a few years ago. As a wrestler, not much there.
-
Hated Melfi much more, personally. Lorraine Bracco is the master of the grating Italian woman character.
-
Oh well.

It is a weird read. He's calling dibs on the story. He loved how it went, but it should have involved him more.

Eh, whatever. See, I can be lazily dismissive too! I wasn't being lazy. It just seemed like a silly thing to complain about. It's like, I pay for my DirecTV package. There's a shitload of channels on there that I don't watch or even know what they are. I just don't watch them. They are options, but that's all. Just like this. It's just coming from such a place of base WWE hate.
-
Eh, whatever. Just don't watch it. I probably won't watch any of it, but I don't begrudge them for making some different stuff and throwing it on the Network.

PWO PTBN WrestleMania XXXI Reaction Show
Zoo Enthusiast replied to Bigelow34's topic in Publications and Podcasts
I have enough Mania reax shows to last the week, but this is tops on the list. -
Like I said, also, I think they need to keep Reigns/Rollins apart until they do the title change. If they consider Reigns the next top babyface (and I think they still do) he can't be losing on bullshit finishes like Daniel Bryan for four months.
-
As someone who wanted them to double down on Reigns, or at the very least make him strong/credible, I was fine with the finish. I would have had much more of a problem with a post-match cash in, actually, just because they just did that finish a year and a half ago. Compared to silly/convoluted Shield reunion ideas, this was a far better way to get the belt on Rollins. I think it buys them some time to do a better job on Reigns until they do pull the trigger on him. My hope is a triple threat (even though I know it is played out) at Summerslam, simply for the sake of Reigns winning it in a sure thing good match. Though they can't just have Rollins beat Reigns over and over until then, so maybe they will do something like Big Show in between, unfortunately.

I expected worse and got just "bad." I guess that's fine.

Put it to bed, fellas.
