  1. The No. 1 native was the ace in that promotion. Hansen was No. 1 foreigner and on the same tier as Jumbo. But no way he was "The Man." And I think Hansen was the greatest wrestler of all time. I'm not suggesting he was the ace, just that he had best matches from the set.
  2. I'd argue that Hansen not Jumbo was the king of All Japan.
  3. I would like to nominate Kevin Von Erich, I find his stuff some of the most fun out of any wrestler, he just brought a wild and out of control element to the wrestling.
  4. Jake's best stuff was against Ronnie Garvin.
  5. I would like to nominate Ron Starr, Rip Rogers & Paul Orndorff.
  6. I'll be voting Dory for sure, The Funks are my favourite tag team of all time and Dory more than holds his own in those matches. He plays such a great stoic bad ass who is there to help his brother when he is out selling forever. I love Dory's subtle viciousness and I find he's criminally underrated by people who want him to be something that he isn't.
  7. I'd say his stuff with The Renegade was probably his career low.
  8. I'd like to nominate Leo Burke and Raymond Rougeau. I'm a sucker for Canadian baby faces.
  9. Suggesting anyone who says they like that match is lying is some serious bullshit. This ranks right up there with his insistence that Jesse Ventura is the best colour commentator of all time and anywho who says anyone else is wrong.
  10. He managed Cactus Jack & Bob Orton in Herb Abrams' UWF, the wrestling magazines at the time were pimping him pretty heavily.
  11. Speak for yourself with regards to technique, a poorly executed move can take me right out of the moment.
  12. I used to think Riki Choshyu was a limited wrestler who was content to pull a Mutoh on the mat (lay there and do nothing) but after watching his stuff in All Japan I've come around and I'd say he's in the top 8 workers in All Japan in the 80s.
  13. He also beat Kerry Von Erich in his red gear.
  14. The NWA title, just cause it reminds me of Harley Race.
  15. You guys are crazy to want to see Jericho, he's at RVD levels of suck at this point.
  16. The biggest gripe I have is the incosistencies of count outs. Sometimes the ref will count and other times he'll go to the outside to separate the wrestlers and break his count. Sometimes getting up to the apron stops the count, other times guys get counted out while being on the apron. You can roll into the ring to break the count, sometimes.
  17. I guess I should have probably put Dino as my biggest wrestling guilty pleasure but I felt like he deserved his own thread. I loved his team with Martel, especially against the Road Warriors, probably my favourite Roadies tag match ever. I always enjoyed dark haired Dino but even the blonde bloated version could still put in some fun perfomances like in the Rumble 89 6 man tag.
  18. Guilty pleasure, I gotta go with Barry Darsow and The Ultimate Warrior. I loved Smash as a kid, at first I prefered Ax but around the time of Survivor Series 89 my allegiance switched to Smash cause he seemed more youthful and rambunctious. Those same characterists are why I loved Warrior so much. Guilty displeasure, I don't get all giddy about Memphis like a lot of posters here do, I don't hate it but I don't put it on a pedestal either. I never got into Eddie Gilbert or Tommy Rich either.
  19. The problem with turning Cena is that it will still make Cena the focal point of the promotion and those who have been pushed away because of his huge shadow will still see him all over the place. They need to Honky Tonk Man him and just have someone squash him and then drop him down the cards but they won't because they're safe and you all know this.
  20. He was my uncle Johnny's favourite as well.
  21. Sean O'Haire looked like a star from the get go. He was the Roman Reigns of the early aughts.
  22. When did Flair and Steamboat have one in 89?
  23. If you're not opposed to the idea of country, than Johnny Cash, Hank Williams and Waylon Jennings certainly belong in the discussion.
  24. Someone on deathvalleydriver made this comparison and I feel like it's reasonable. Look at any other sport, football, baseball, hockey and so on, they would never think of going to commercial during the action. A sideline interview with an athlete would be an excellent opportunity to pay the bills, it's the opposite in wrestling. What is basically the filler gets highlighted as the can't miss stuff. No, there won't be an aad break during those HHH promos but you better believe that the Kofi match will get interrupted. This presents the promos as being more important when the neat thing to do would be to present them as being equal with perhaps even hedging toward having the action seem more important.
