  1. I try to do either 6-man tags with 1 and a half feuds or a singles match with half of a tag feud on the midcard and above feuds to set up the 2 on 2 matches. To me, it doesn't matter what matches you put on a card with feuding teams/people across from one another, as long as it's not the money match on something like a 2,000-3,000 seat house. You may or may not have noticed that the Can Ams and the Tongans, despite feuding, have not had a 2 on 2 match yet. That and matches like Condrey/Rose vs. Jacques/Raymond are saved for the 18,000 seat Montreal Forum shows or something like that. Also, the first Can Ams vs. Tongans match is being used to lend significance to the new title they will be wrestling for in it. At some point I may work a bigger building in Ottawa on a Thursday after a TV taping or something, hit a nice 10,000 gate as a follow-up to the previous night's TV with a marquee matchup or two that gets teased on the TV. It's also the reason why my lowest title is a singles title. The guys who are getting pushes get good experience in a lot of tag matches & six mans to build to the title matches and a chance to work a semi-featured singles match now and again. Gives them the training they need for what will be expected of them on the midcard.
  2. What a great Boston show! I think the only match I'd not care for was the Mil vs. Harley match. Bock at the end is great. I'd put him in my top 3 heels on the continent so far.

Yeah, I can't believe Eddie Marlin is so good to the RnRs. Only way they could hold a candle to the Assassins. So what sort of shenanigans do Ladd and Sonny King have up their sleeve exactly?
  4. I feel like I started this more than a little, so I just want to clarify what I was trying to say. I think that after the draft and first week a lot of folks slowed down on this whole deal. Some had other stuff they needed to put time into I'm sure, while others have simply burnt out on the fantasy booking. I feel like we should be very careful about removing territories without the person running them saying they are done. You've all read my shows and how long they get. I am written a month and a half in advance just writing on weekends. I wrote three weeks of TV last weekend while knocking out season 1 of Breaking Bad. If somebody like Rocket, Boricua or Wahoo's really wanted to catch up it wouldn't take very long at all. So I think we should have patience with anyone who hasn't been posting for a while. I also think that those of us who are here more often than others can help by reading through what other people write and letting them know what we think. It's a small thing, but knowing what works for your audience (and that your audience cares enough to reply at all) can be a big help. I've been trying to be better about that lately after having a bit of a lull myself.
  5. No reason to make it an argument. Let's just try to talk it out without throwing anything back an forth in the process.

  7. Yeah, I'm guessing there are several of us who are written far enough ahead that we don't need the shot in the arm. I won't have room for anyone new until at least mid-November. I understand the feeling that all those workers are just sitting there, but we can't just kick people out because we like their roster.
  8. So do we give people a little more time to get their stuff going again? I'm not sure how we want to set the protocol on this because both of the other people who have left have done so voluntarily. The way we handle this is going to determine how it works going forward, so we better be sure it's how we want to do this every time before this is finished.
  9. So Boricua's perfect WWC roster is going to get a boost? Sweet. I imagine that random draw is going to be closely watched given Florida's roster. I tend to agree with Grimmas on the sideways moves also. I don't know if Florida is one of those, but it would be fine for somebody from a smaller territory to move in if you ask me.
  10. Ooh, a recap show. I was thinking I would add one of those sometime in 84.
  11. Another great show! Tully is easily one of the top heels across North America right now. Khan is gonna give a HUGE rub to whoever puts him away. I'm liking the Tiny Anderson stuff. Gilbert seems like he is in over his head, but I imagine he's gonna find a way to overcome.
  12. Hogan ripping things up in wild brawls is an interesting twist on Hogan. Wild Bills and Road Warriors seems like a great tag team brawler feud. Could Embry become a part of Garvin's stable?
  13. Russians with a clean win is interesting. I'm sure the last two matches were taped and will come out on your first batch of commercial releases? If not, fuck you world.
  14. Way to go Rogers & Fulton! Those Germans are not done yet though. Steve-O is quite the young lion in his way. Wrestling 2 no selling the low blow is a bit odd. Was wondering when we'd get one of them in your booking though. Brody vs. the Sheik is a perfect way to use Brody. Tag championship match looks fun, but I'm no huge fan of Mascaras. Now the main event....you are going to get Ted killed, sir. I hope you don't mind having that on your conscience.
  15. Great lead-in to the Chicago show. Really loaded card with what seem like no throwaway matches in the Amphitheatre. When Bock is in match #2 you know you've got a pretty beefed up roster. Also, Colon vs. Abby with two matches to go seems a bit off. I think the mat is going to be blood red by the time that match ends and probably not very safe to wrestle in.
  16. Yeah, Georgia is right up there for me too. I'm loving the tag division and the whole Jake/Adonis/GC/Reed/Koko situation. It's a concept I had thought to use right away but will have to wait a bit to employ due to having to remake the entire structure of the roster through the shows. It's one of my favorite promotions to read with Southeast and Southwest neck and neck (and neck?).
  17. Man, what a great Coliseum show. I smell a certain football playing Indian chief coming in sometime soon to make Casey pay for his crimes. Darsow had a great show even if I'm not a fan. Taylor and Guerrero are showing signs of dissension in the ranks, but I would have loved to see that match. Sheik vs. David seemed like it was sort of shoehorned in, but it works for what you were doing during that part of the show. The tag championship match was great and I hope alternate universe me has the good sense to watch that some day. Damn those sneaky Russians anyway. Last two matches were a great way to send the crowd home happy. All in all, I'd say you knocked the big show out of the park.
  18. I'm thinking I would like both of your promotions. Ever since I did my 2000s Japan watch I've had this idea that 20+ minute matches are very often bloated by unnecessary stuff when in the hands of all but the very high tier pro wrestlers. So my thinking is that ideally eighteen minutes or so is more than enough to tell the story that needs to be told. That and my recent love of tag wrestling makes me gravitate towards show like yours.
  19. I'm digging all the tag action myself, but I have to think that Georgia and Southeastern have the 1 and 2 tag divisions as far as name value and actual tag matches being produced. I tend to save a lot of the marquee matchups (face vs. heel ones anyway) in 2 on 2 action for the big shows and run a lot of 6 mans.
  20. August 20th, 1983, Pavillon de la Jeunesse, Quebec City, QC (4,200) Dan Johnson defeated Alex Gerrard with a power slam Gino Brito & Tony Parisi defeated the Kay Brothers with a side suplex/flying senton combo on Rudy Kay Armand Rougeau & Rene Goulet defeated Dave Kochen & Tony Ricco with a flying fist drop/scorpion claw hold combo on Ricco Jim Brunzell defeated Tonga John with an inside cradle before quickly escaping the ring Quebec Heavyweight Champion Richard Charland defeated Louis Laurence with his feet on the ropes to retain the Quebec Heavyweight Championship Phil Lafon defeated King Tonga by DQ when Albano ordered King Tonga to not release a nerve hold, Brunzell ran out to save with Tonga John close behind, resulting in another crowd-clearing, bloody brawl Mad Dog Lefebvre, Gilles Poisson & Dennis Condrey defeated the Invaders & Raymond Rougeau with a bearhug/second rope superplex combo on Invader 1 Jacques Rougeau defeated Randy Rose with a schoolboy
  21. Yeah I try to at least get one of my last two or three matches with a babyface win. If I can make the main a babyface win more often than not, it's a win for me.
  22. The Japanese do not have capital letters. So all capital letters means it's in English, which is obviously the evil language since it is foreign. It's basically the exact same as how American wrestling works through a different mechanism.
  23. I like seeing the main event feud from SW featured. The Fantastics moving up to tougher competition can only be good. The tag from SW looks really fun. I hope the fans started throwing garbage in the ring after that finish! BOO! Really though, great way to get the fans wanting to see JYD get one up on Ted.
  24. International Wrestling, August 19th, 1983 (Taped August 17th,1983 in the Colisée de Rimouski, Rimouski, QC ) 4,300 fans 0:00 - 11:30 The opening credits roll and we cut to the ring with Bobby Kay waiting for his opponent. Goldie Rogers comes out of the back with an arrogant walk. He makes a point not to allow fans to touch him, especially his flowing blond locks. Jacques, Sr. is not impressed in his description of this. Goldie Rogers vs. Bobby Kay Rogers dominates from the start, but Kay makes a comeback bid a few minutes in that ends abruptly when Rogers baits him outside and quickly rolls back into the ring. Kay can’t mount a second comeback after Rogers attacks him on the way back in and ends up falling victim to a neckbreaker for the three count. Goldie Rogers by pinfall after a neckbreaker 4:27 Rogers celebrates before having words with some fans about how ugly they are before tossing his hair and posing on his way to the back. Jacques, Sr. Is in the ring where the Tongan terrors and Lou Albano are now headed. Albano approaches Jacques, Sr. with a big smile on his face. Jacques, Sr.: I’ve never seen you so happy, Mr. Albano. Albano: My monsters are back! I miss having them here, Rougeau. I’m so happy they are back that nobody can ruin my day. Not you, not these fans- The fans try to boo Albano out of the building. Albano: You see, Rougeau. Today is a great day. And now it’s time for my monsters to do what they do best. Beat whatever poor slobs put in front of them unconscious! Jacques, Sr. shakes his head as he leaves the ring and makes his way back to the announce table. The Gerrard Brothers come out to a small positive response, and the Tongans jump them the instant they reach ringside. Jacques, Sr. puts over the courage of the Gerrards for getting in the ring with the Tongan Terrors. He then describes Rogers’ earlier victory as “a great showing in his debut.” The Tongan Terrors vs. The Gerrard Brothers The Tongans dominate this all the way through, destroying Alex and Tim Gerrard with reckless abandon. Mercifully, they finish off Tim with a savate kick from King Tonga followed by a Tonga John headbutt from the top rope. The two big Tongan wrestlers continue the assault at Albano’s urging until the Can Am Express come out with chairs to run them off and help the Gerrards up. Tonga John over Tim Gerrard by pinfall after a savate kick/flying headbutt combination 4:17 Jacques, Sr. is thankful that LaFon and Brunzell were able to save the Gerrards any further punishment at the hands of the Terrors as the ring clears. He runs down the rest of the matches on the card before we go to commercial. Commercial Break 11:30 - 21:30 We return from commercial to a shot of Jacques Sr. as he recaps the show so far. Invader 1 emerges from the curtain to a mix of cheers and boos after the camera cuts to the ring. Gino Brito comes out to a massive pop. Jacques, Sr. commends Invader 1 on his part in running off Lefebvre and Poisson last week, but wonders if calling Gino Brito out was wise. Gino Brito vs. Invader 1 The match starts out and continues as a brawl, with Invader 1 and Brito both wading in with lefts and rights. The crowd begins the match booing Invader 1, but warm up to him as the brawl continues to go back and forth. Brito catches a rough headlock, but that doesn’t last long as he runs into an Invader 1 dropkick off the ropes. Invader 1 locks on an equally rough headlock and ends up being hiptossed off the ropes. Both men frustrated, they go back to punching each other back and forth. Mad Dog Lefebvre and Gilles Poisson rush the ring and attack both, causing referee Andre Roy to call for the bell. Invader 1 and Brito end up clearing Lefebvre and Poisson from the ring one each before turning around and glaring at one another. The two men relax and shake hands, Brito raising the arm of Invader 1 with the crowd cheering loudly. Match thrown out due to both men being attacked 7:18 Jacques, Sr. excitedly puts over Invader 1 as a great addition to the IWA and a potential ally for Gino Brito as we go to commercial with both in the ring soaking in the cheers of the fans. Commercial Break 21:30 - 37:00 The camera is on Jacques, Sr. at the announce table and he recaps the finish and post-match events of Brito vs. Invader 1. The crowd starts booing and the camera cuts to Mad Dog Lefebvre and Gilles Poisson making their way to the ring. Jacques, Sr. makes a point of calling this a dangerous veteran team that will do absolutely anything to win a match. Mad Dog Vachon and Jim Brunzell come out to a HUGE pop. Jacques, Sr. talks about Vachon’s history in Quebec and Brunzell’s athleticism and skill. Mad Dog Vachon & Jim Brunzell vs. Mad Dog Lefebvre & Gilles Poisson The Mad Dogs start things off, both again trying to bite the other once they have an advantage and open up a wound on the other’s forehead. Both end up bleeding but not wanting to tag out. Vachon ends up in the wrong corner and the heels work over his cut. Brunzell tries to rally the crowd behind Vachon from the apron as the Mad Dog starts ignoring punches from Poisson. Poisson tries going to the eyes, but Vachon is quicker on the draw and rakes Poisson’s eyes before unloading with big lefts. He drives Poisson back into the corner where Brunzell eagerly takes the tag and starts destroying Poisson. Lefebvre is dropkicked out of the ring as he comes in to help. Brunzell is on fire in the ring as Vachon goes around the ring to attack Lefebvre. Brunzell misses a dropkick as Poisson catches the ropes in the ring and the big man starts pounding away on his back. Vachon breaks from his attack on Lefebvre when he hears the crowd react and heads back into the ring only to have his head rammed into the ringpost by Lefebvre. Lefebvre slams Vachon on the floor and joins Poisson in the ring beating down Brunzell. Head referee Adrian Desbois gets Lefebvre into his corner after checking on Vachon at ringside. Poisson locks on a bearhug and carries Brunzell over into his corner where Lefebvre can tag him before setting him on the top turnbuckle. Lefebvre climbs up to the second rope and hits a superplex on a groggy Brunzell for the three as Vachon begins to stir. Lafebvre rolls out of the ring to attack Vachon with Poisson close behind, but Phil Lafon and Armand Rougeau run out from the back to stop any kind of post-match attack by Lefebvre and Poisson. Mad Dog Lefebvre over Jim Brunzell by pinfall after a bearhug/second rope superplex 13:47 Jacques, Sr. is relieved that his son and Phil Lafon had the presence of mind to interrupt what could have been a career-ending attack on Mad Dog Vachon after the brutal attack by Lefebvre as we go to commercial. Commercial Break 37:00 - 54:00 We come back from commercial to a shot of the ring as Jacques Rougeau is coming out of the back to a thunderous roar. He is one half of the Canadian International Tag Team champions and wears the gold to prove it. Jacques, Sr. calls his son “a great pro wrestler in every facet.” Randy Rose emerges from the curtain to loud boos, accompanied by Eddie Creatchman. Jacques Sr. puts over Rose as a complete wrestler as well, saying he matches up well with Jacques. Jacques Rougeau vs. Randy Rose Jacques comes out firing with right hands and follows with a dropkick to send Rose out of the ring. Rose confers with Creatchman before returning to the ring, firing back with right hands only to block the return punch from Rougeau and kick at his left knee. Rose works over Jacques’ knee for a while before starting in on the midsection. Jacques comes firing back with punches, but Rose goes right back to the knee. Jacques grabs Rose’s left arm and starts working on it after a missed elbow drop. Jacques is doing everything he can to avoid standing on his left leg and still do damage while Rose keeps fighting to get back to his feet. Rose gets to his feet and kicks Jacques leg out from under him, forcing Jacques to roll outside about ten feet from Creatchman. Creatchman distracts Rougeau and Rose lands a boot from the apron before hopping down and slamming Jacques’ head into the apron. Rose wants to suplex Jacques in, but Jacques lands behind him, almost falling over on the bad leg. Rose goes behind Jacques, who goes to the ropes, but ends up caught in an O’Connor roll by Rose for three. Randy Rose by pinfall with an O’Connor roll 14:22 Jacques Sr. begrudgingly commends Rose on a match well-wrestled while Rose and Creatchman celebrate in the ring as we go to commercial. Commercial Break & Upcoming Events Aug 20th, 1983, Pavillon de la Jeunesse, Quebec City, QC Jacques Rougeau vs. Randy Rose The Invaders & Raymond Rougeau vs. Mad Dog Lefebvre, Gilles “The Fish” Poisson & Dennis Condrey Phil Lafon vs. King Tonga Jim Brunzell vs. Tonga John “The Farmer” Louis Laurence vs. Quebec Heavyweight Champion Richard Charland for the Quebec Heavyweight Title Armand Rougeau & Rene Goulet vs. Dave Kochen & Tony Ricco Gino Brito & Tony Parisi will be on the card! Aug 27th, Paul Sauvé Arena, Montreal, QC Canadian International Tag Team Champions The Fabulous Rougeau Brothers & Invader 1 vs. The Midnight Express & Gilles “The Fish” Poisson Gino Brito & Tony Parisi vs. Armand Rougeau & Rene Goulet The Can Am Express & Invader 3 vs. The Tongan Terrors & Mad Dog Lefebvre And more! 54:00 - 56:30 Eddie Creatchman and the Midnight Express are in the ring with Jacques, Sr. as we come back from break. Jacques, Sr.: It looks like your strategy finally won out, Eddie Creatchman. I can’t say I’m happy about it, but your man pinned my son in the center of the ring. Creatchman: You’re finally seeing what I’ve been telling you all along, Rougeau. Your boys are not the great wrestlers you think they are! My man Randy Rose just proved that! Jacques, Sr.: You can say that, Eddie Creatchman, but even the best wrestlers get beat. I won’t go so far as to call Mr. Rose lucky, but I will say that it’s a matchup that can go either way. Creatchman: Whatever you want to say doesn’t bother me one bit, Rougeau. Nobody cares what you think anyway. The crowd boos very loudly. Creatchman: You all need to show me and these men some respect. Randy Rose just dethroned one of your heroes! The great Jacques Rougeau will never be the same again! Jacques, Sr.: I’d like to ask you a question, Eddie Creatchman. Does your team have the Canadian International Tag Team Titles yet? Creatchman: No they do not, but it won’t be long until they have those belts around their waists. I think Randy Rose proved here tonight that we are the number one contenders! The crowd erupts. Creatchman: You see, Rougeau, it’s not just- Jacques & Raymond Rougeau are halfway to the ring by the time Creatchman and the Midnight Express realize the cheers are not for them. The Rougeaus enter the ring and stand behind their father. Jacques, Sr.: I think I know two young men who might disagree with you, Eddie Creatchman. Jacques: We don’t care who challenges us for these belts. Raymond: We do think that there are other deserving teams that should get a shot before the two of you. The crowd cheers. Creatchman: You would say that! After the beating Randy Rose just handed you, Jacques, I’m surprised you’re out here. I know you’re scared of the Midnight Express and what is going to happen to you next time! So do Randy Rose and Dennis Condrey! The crowd goes crazy as the Midnight Express and the Fabulous Rougeau Brothers face off in the center of the ring to close the show. Dark Matches Pre-Show Quebec Heavyweight Champion Richard Charland & Dan Johnson defeated Etienne Bergeron & Frederic Tremblay with a spike piledriver to Tremblay Phil Lafon defeated Dave Kochen with a cobra clutch Armand Rougeau & Rene Goulet defeated Louis Laurence & Tony Ricco with a flying fist drop/scorpion claw hold combination Invader 3 defeated Tony Parisi with a running senton Post-Show Raymond Rougeau went to a double count-out with Dennis Condrey after both men joined in a brawl between Rose and Jacques on the floor that Creatchman baited Jacques into
