  1. Luger gets to look really good and keep his heat without killing anyone in the nWo with a real loss. Works for me.
  2. Hogan as a heel is super fun. He's ridiculously over the top whether he's melting down after his loss or piling on the nonsense and verbal abuse when he knows he is safe. I'll agree that him screaming for security to let the Giant through is fantastic.
  3. Bischoff as a slimy heel worked either if you hated him because you thought it was real or just appreciate his commitment to the bit and ability to pull it off. I know it got old after a while, but it's still pretty fresh here.
  4. I also had forgotten this. It was amazing. Savage hijacking Nitro is such creative booking.
  5. This was indeed a great episode of Raw. The tag match was really good, Bart vs. Farooq was okay but forgettable. The angles were all really great and the main event was a really good brawl between Austin and Taker. Super hot crowd as well!
  6. I'll agree this is awesome and the WWF is really building some momentum here.
  7. I really enjoyed this one. Ishikawa doing a jumping headbutt to counter Ikeda's strikes and putting him down for the partial count was super awesome. The targeted attack of Ikeda's leg making him much less of a factor as the match went into the finish was great too. Usuda having to carry the load for his team was a really cool part of this match. Ishikawa roughs him up for sure, but he weathers the storm and is able to finish off Ono while Ikeda tackles Ishikawa out of the ring. Really great match.
  8. I completely agree with everyone on this being absolutely great and exactly what the WWF needed. I am surprised at even in November and December of 96 hearing on Raw how Vince is the owner of the WWE. I hadn't thought that happened before Montreal.
  9. Bret on commentary is really good through the whole match. I really liked Owen coming out to protect Bulldog from Bret despite how absurd it seems. The finish was really good booking for sure. Was the Rocky chant after the match piped in?
  10. Sid's promo was absolutely great. Shawn's was pretty bad. And he spent half the time not looking at the camera.
  11. The match and Hogan were awesome. The obvious ratings ploy was unsurprising and bad.
  12. Amazing angle and the WCW has a new top babyface. I caught the bit with Starr really making the cuter look weak by rushing it. I'm not gonna say WCW gets everything right, but some things are absolute perfection.
  13. Sid's promo is sure all over the place. Shawn's new act has worn thin after two weeks. This against one of the strongest Nitros in a while is really not good.
  14. I was wondering how Bret's knees weren't driven through his chest on the first Vader bomb. Not great match. Terrible commentary with Michaels at his absolute worst. Then way too much going on at the end, and it wasn't all necessary.
  15. The end of this segment saved it. The nWo beatdown of the Giant went on too long. I loved the Hogan promo and thee way the nWo were arrayed around the entrance as they came in, waiting for Hollywood. The ending of the angle is tremendous, with Sting starting to show his true colors and the Giant looking like an absolute beast.
  16. Being a not-fan of Shawn's, I had the opposite reaction. Either way, my biggest beef with this whole thing was Sid demanding a non-Bret or Shawn challenger 3 weeks before the Rumble. Why do the Taker staredown before the Shawn match is over? Bret did have one interesting thing to say kind of along the lines of Goldust. Is it true that Playgirl is not necessarily for women?
  17. One of Hogan's finest moments of the year. He seems to be really enjoying playing the heel here and it's super entertaining. Piper not being given a ton to say makes him a little more focused than normal too. I agree they should have ended Hogan/Piper here.
  18. I enjoyed this a lot. Hogan crowing about his "victory" is a perfect way for that character to act.
  19. This is an awesome promo that is completely out of character for DDP. It still works great though!
  20. While I know the Giant doesn't necessarily have success against Hogan, I am glad to see him out of the nWo. That was a poor fit.
  21. That finish was totally unexpected. Since when did Hogan go down clean like that? Not overly good, but for two guys way past their prime it was better than expected.
  22. Excellent match with a ton of heat. Luger is really on fire here, selling really well when he needs to and showing a ton of fire in his offense. Really loved this one and totally agree with SS this was match of the night so far.
  23. I enjoyed watching Liger beat Rey down, but the crowd did seem a little burnt out. Also, early on Liger was kind of babyfacing himself, only to show some heel mannerisms a little bit later. Than he just kind of robotically went about his beatdown without really engaging the crowd much. Maybe he gave up on trying to get them involved? I'll agree with good-not-great.
  24. Eddy taking on the nWo was really great and the crowd thought so too! Why do they use the WCW Saturday Night ring for the PPV?
  25. It seemed like Malenko started to work more of what the crowd was looking for later on, but I have one major issue here. Malenko, the man of 1,000 holds and the Iceman, locks in his finishing hold only to have Sonny Onoo jump up on the apron. Why is he letting go of that hold exactly? What kind of threat does Sonny Onoo present that would lead him to the conclusion that releasing the one move that would for sure win him the match is the right call? Malenko is indeed tone-deaf fairly often even during this match. But that finish is moreso.
