WWE TV 04/22 - 04/26: Institutionalized Insanity
CarpetCrawler replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
At this point, it feels like it would be impossible to turn him again, because what babyface is going to be stupid enough to fall for that again. I echo @SirEdger's thoughts RE: Bray Watt's new direction. I think it's fucking awesome and it preys on the worst fears of paranoid parents and I am interested in giving it a chance. -
I've honestly been wondering about that myself. He was there at WrestleMania but working as a reporter for ESPN. I haven't heard anything about WWE cutting him loose. Besides PPVs the only things Gorilla and Jesse did together on the regular was co-hosting the studio portions of Prime Time Wrestling from 1985-86. It's a shame the Network skips to Bobby's first episode because I'd love to see those early episodes again.

They've been slowly making that his schtick it seems from all of the pre-show PPV panels I've seen him in; just going off with bad hot takes on wrestlers. I guess they were testing it out and now want to run with it. Agreed on your point on what makes a good heel commentator with one caveat, I feel like the Jesse-Vince tandem has aged terribly sometimes because Vince is so bad that he'll let Jesse go off, and off, and off, for what feels like ages, sometimes to the point of taking themselves out of the match in the very bad way the current announce teams do it. Gorilla-Jesse is so much better in that Gorilla will at least try to stand up for himself with something other than what translates to "he's a good guy so I like him", and it shows in that Jesse is far more lively and interested while doing commentary with Gorilla. Sometimes it feels like Jesse is trying to get himself over more than what's going on in the ring when he's with Vince, especially during the Saturday Night's Main Event shows. But I blame that entirely on Vince.

Hebner's now saying he thinks Montreal was a work after having appeared on the Viceland documentary.

If it means anything, Sunny has said countless times that they never got past making out one time.

At least as of yesterday, he still hadn't seen the Savage episode, so it has nothing to do with that as far as I know. He was told the Montreal episode is a bit of a mess with some inaccuracies, and ends a little messy. As for the Savage episode, I absolutely loved it and felt the documentary was carried on its back by Linda Boella's contributions, and it wouldn't have been worth a lick if she wasn't involved, and if Lanny Poffo wasn't involved for that matter. It was fascinating hearing more about Elizabeth outside of wrestling, and Linda comes off very well in the documentary. Bruce Prichard did a great job of being the guy who tries to explain the importance of the wrestling parts to outsiders, and it reminds me of how he really can be a great storyteller when he wants to be.

Shane's gonna launch himself out of a cannon on the pirate ship.

I freely admit that weird running gag where he just had a gong for no reason popped me big time as a huge fan of The Gong Show.

Ronda grinning like a big goof for Joan and then having to cover for it by coming down with a scowl on her face is fantastic. -

Yeah, I've honestly warmed up to his promo work. He cut a real good promo earlier on the WWE YouTube channel that I was into. Also he's super entertaining in Xavier Woods' UpUpDownDown and it makes me wish some of that naturally funny personality could shine through his character. EDIT: also yeah the Bossman slide fucking rules. -

I figured immediately when I saw the footage that it meant Cena was coming out because he's the Babe Ruth figure of WWE that Vince McMahon wished Randy Savage could have been in the mid-90s. -

"You may have beaten leukemia, but you can't beat me" is maybe one of the most wrestling-ass wrestling lines of the entire show so far. -
