  1. People are taking too much of a big picture view of this. The politics of ranking pro wrestlers is a lot closer to the running of a kids sports team than the battle around any major social issue.

He should have been in the high 30's somewhere. Oh well, there's always 2026 right!
  3. This channel has, for now, some of the big Stardom matches from the past year. If your looking for YT versions of 12/23/15 Satomura vs. Io, 1/17/16 Io vs. Hojo, and the underrated 9/23/15 Thunder Rock vs. Jumonji Sisters match they're here.
  4. This is the tag title match that was setup after Matsumoto trash-talking at the end of the last Korakuen Hall show. They don't mess around here, during a breakdown after the intial feeling-out, Hiroyo grabs Iwatani off the top rope for a powerbomb on the apron while Kagetsu lines up Io along the ring post and starts drilling her with kicks. The challengers then turn their focus to Iwatani and this allows Mayu to show off some awesome selling. The thing I like the most about her selling in this match is that she isn't instantly back to normal after tagging out, if she gets back involved too early she pays for it. That being said Hiroyo Matsumoto is the real star of the match. She lives up to her "Lady Godzilla" nickname as she is just a monster here. She's great at using her strength to count both Mayu's and Io's flashy offense, plus bringing some really nasty strikes to the table. This is the best women's match of the year so far, and if your a Stardom World subscriber, pretty much makes this month's payment worth it by itself. ****1/2
  5. I have no problem with people leaving wrestlers from a whole genre off of their lists if they don't like the style. I've been a joshi fan long enough to see people try it out then say it's not for them. That's all I really ask people to do. I think its silly to be upset that people didn't watch someone that you ranked highly. This isn't something like sports where you have solid metric to back up your argument, you just have what your opinion on what you saw. What the real goal of a list like this should be is to introduce different workers that hopefully causes others to want to check them out, even more than the nomination process. The nice thing about this board is that it's open to all types of wrestling, so it's disappointing to see people scolding others for not watching certain styles/wrestlers because it kinda defeats what the ultimate goal of the list should be.
  6. This is the last hurrah of the team of Sera and Narumiya, who had a long run with these same titles in 2014, as Maki was close to retirement. Was really impressed with Sera, as I really enjoyed her 2014 work but she wandered off the radar a bit in 2015. Enjoyed her wobbly leg selling, especially on Nakajima's strikes. The match is essentially a short, action packed sprint but not at too quick a pace that any sort of selling is ignored. There are moments of sloppiness that does effect some of the big spots and double teams but nothing that hurts the momentum of the match. Best Friends continue to be a highly entertaining tag team. ***3/4
  7. This pretty much tells the tale on joshi workers. Half of that list is women with only one getting less than 30 votes. It looks like anyone who voted for them put them high on his/her list. Compare that Shoot Style/World of Sport/Lucha where it only seems like certain well-known workers, comparatively speaking, got strong support.
  8. BTW, that picture wasn't a troll post, I just love the contrast of it compared to the rest of the pictures in the thread. Kairi Hojo does have the best chops currently. I just love how she throws her whole body behind them. It's like watching a baseball player swing a bat.
  9. I'm more interest on just the number of ballots that he ends up on more than where he finishes.
  10. The DM app on my phone (Android) works way better than the player on the website. Then I just use Chromecast to play it on my TV.
  11. I hate the forced brawling up to the entrances. It never feels natural but tacked on yet it happens at least once at every Korakuen show.
  12. While these two have been going at each other for almost 18 years, this is actually the first singles match that they have had since 2012. There is no way to describe this match other than an outright slugfest. Both of them just start clubbing away at on another and it lasts pretty much the entire match. Aja is just in no-bullshit mode here, just dishing out a straight forward asskicking. Meiko's selling is pretty good, as she picks some good moments to attempt comebacks. The match may seem short, but it works in the sense that they come out of the gate so hard it wouldn't too long. Just great stuff as you would expect from these two. ****1/4
  13. If the stats people are taking requests, I'd like to see graphs on certain people like Christian as to where each voter had him/her on each ballot. The average vote gives you a rough idea but it would be interesting to some specifics.
  14. While this is technically a preview for the tag title match on the next show, this turns out to be pretty good in it's own right. It says a lot about Hiroyo as a tag wrestler as this is the third different partner that she has had in the last six months and she has had instant chemistry with all of them. Iwatani also turns a great selling performance as she really puts over the offense of the future challengers. Surprisingly great match from something that would usually be treated as a throwaway. ****
  15. This was the main reason I had her at 6. The post-Dump part of her early career is something that is slept on. To me, it's right up there with some of the best runs of all time. Combine that with Dump stuff, a really good early work and even some entertaining stuff in the early part of her comeback she ended up being that high on my list.
  16. Disappointed that Jaguar didn't make the top 100, but she did have an average vote that was 10+ better than Dory and was on 18 less ballots than Sting. When you consider those things she finished a lot better than she should have. I'm not going to complain about how joshi wrestlers finished as a whole in this poll, because if ballots were due a couple of years ago all of them would have finished a lot worse. I'm just glad that people were willing to either revisit certain workers or tried to watch it for the first time regardless of what his/her opinion ended up being.
  17. Watched the first round from the Shimmer Mania weekend show. Thought Savoy/LuFisto had the best moments but ultimately was too awkward/sloppy to be good. Cherry Bomb/LaRae was solid but hurt by a dumb finish. Heidi Lovelace/Veda Scott was the best match which was surprise because I've never seen Veda look good in the ring before. Looking forward to the rest of the show though, the matchups for the semis and the final look promising.
  18. Nakamura working a six-man with Enzo and Cass.
  19. The only person off of my list that I was disappointed with was Asuka. I thought with her showing up in NXT more people would have checked out her stuff in Japan but since she was only on ten ballot, combined with Sasha being on thirteen, I guess people didn't.

    NXT talk

TMDK and Nikki Storm showed up a the Performance Center today.
  21. So after not nominating Yoshiko Tamura due to a lack of footage online, about a half dozen big matches of hers have popped up online in the last couple of weeks. Talk about timing...
  22. After a heated rivalry last year, Satomura and Hojo come together to challenge the current tag champs, Thunder Rock. The opening part of this match quick establishes the difference between the two teams. While on paper Satomura and Hojo present a strong challenge, it becomes clear in the early going that they lack the true teamwork of the champs. When they are on the same page though, they are able to chain together some pretty nasty combos. Still, Thunder Rock's ability to keep watch of each other and be able to work together naturally is what ultimately gives them the edge in the end. This match doesn't reach the levels that it potential could have but it still managed to tell a good story of contrasting teamwork. ***3/4
  23. No, but the two are going to be on opposite sides of a tag match next month. Shirai w/ Mayu Iwatani vs. Nakajima w/ Tsukasa Fujimoto, on paper it should be the best joshi match this year.
