If you've watched some of their matches/shows before, enjoyed them and want to try to follow the promotion on a regular basis? Then yes it's worth it. If you haven't watch them before and want to try it as a sample then I would hold off for now. They have yet posted any of their more hyped stuff from the last year or so it's better to wait till those match are available.

That's another problem with 80's AJW is that a lot of it isn't dated properly, if at all. If you get a bunch of TV from a tape dealer you usually get something listed as early '84 or summer '85, hardly anything with clear dates on them. Even some of the stuff that aired on AJW Classics was dated wrong.

Well after spending the afternoon looking, there isn't much of anything for 80's AJW footage, which is frustrating since there was tonnes a couple of years ago but pretty much all of that has vanished. I don't know if anyone wants to judge someone like Jaguar on just three matches with Galactica, the Lioness match, and a couple of tags with Devil vs. the Crush Gals. The only big Chigusa singles matches are the Devil Masami All Pacific title match and the first Dump hair match, that's it. If people want the links I'll post them but it's really just feels like scraps, not anything you can honestly judge someone on, especially if you haven't seen them before.

The problem with uploading stuff now is that a lot her matches from her peak were on Samurai TV, and that stuff gets taken down pretty quick nowadays. Her peak was also during the time that people considered joshi to be "dead" so that's another hurdle to overcome. But to me, she's the best female worker of her generation and maybe the most underrated overall. She was able to convincingly play the role of ace despite looking like a waifish model. Excellent at selling, surprisingly good matwork, and violent strike-based offense. Her 12/9/07 match with Kaori Yoneyama is fantastic and is what got me to look further into recent joshi. The 4/29/08 title switch with Kayoko Haruyama might be the most sound joshi match in history in terms of selling and psychology. Her run in the late 00's in JWP is just terrific and something I prefer over other's like Meiko Satomura and even some of the big names from the previous two decades.

How do people here feel about Veoh links? I haven't had any major issues personally, but I've read some who have had big problems and felt like I should ask first. That's the only place that has AJW Classics stuff online at the moment. Anything on YouTube/Dailymotion is off of TV and is a least a little bit clipped.

Chigusa is going to be top 10 maybe even top 5. Rey will be about the same. Do need to watch more face Martel though.

Yet another entertaining Thunder Rock tag match. I can't really say that they are the best team in the world right now but, to me, they are the most reliable because they always have at least a good match with everybody that they face. Here, they are up against two newcomers in Diemond and Viper. Diemond is really solid in-ring and plays the role of foreign heel well. Viper is fun as a big woman in the mold of a John Tenta or One Man Gang. I really like how she throws her weight into all of her offense which makes it extra squishy. Iwatani is great here, fearlessly eating her opponents offense and selling like crazy. Io is just puts in her usual great performance. A high quality main event. *** 3/4

So far there's two shows (2/12/16, 2/28/16) from this year, and looking at the schedule they are running about a show a week for the next couple of months. Neither of the two Korakuen Hall shows from this year are up though (1/17/16 with Io Shirai vs. Kairi Hojo, or 2/21/16 with Mayu Iwatani vs. Evie.) I'll put a link the Stardom section of the tumblr that I use for results/news.

A reminder that they just finished uploading this past weekend's show with the main event for the Artist of Stardom (Six-Woman) titles. Plus they have added the 9/4/15 and 9/5/15 shows. No "Big" shows yet but still 5 full shows in less than a week after launch is pretty good.

Who from the 2006 SC poll do you see not ranking at all this time?
donsem43 replied to JerryvonKramer's topic in 2016
Sasuke is right there on the edge unless people love his recent wacky MPro stuff. Looking the other direction, Bockwinkel has to be the lowest ranked person with a chance at the top 10, maybe Fujinami. If not one of them it will probably be either Lawler or Casas -
Azumi Hyuga/Tomoko Kuzumi: vs. Hiromi Yagi vs. Carlos Amano vs. Kaori Yoneyama Arisa Nakajima: vs. Hikaru Shida vs. Io Shirai with Tsukasa Fujimoto vs. Misaki Ohata & Ryo Mizunami

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGMJOCOVPWQ The storyline for this match is your typical Japanese "Company Ace vs. Rising Young Star." The main thing about this match that I love is that while it's fairly similar to a Noah match at the time with a lot of big moves and bumps is that everything is given time to breathe. At around the midpoint of the match Yoneyama hits a senton to the floor and it's treated as a big momentum changing move. Hyuga sells it big, barely getting back in before being counted out and sells it in some form for the rest of the match. The finish involves a lot of nice teases and nearfalls. A true hidden gem from joshi's "dead" era. ****1/2

They uploaded the 11/23/15 show today. The main is Io Shirai vs. Santana Garrett with Io's Wonder of Stardom title vs. Santana's NWA Women's title with Iwatani vs. Yoneyama for the High Speed title as the semi-main. This only aired as clips on Samurai TV news shows. If anyone has questions on storylines or who's who feel free to ask. If your hesitant because it's joshi, I personally think current Stardom is the most accessible kind of joshi that I've see. Fairly rare that you get any Manami Toyota vs. Kyoko Inoue type stuff.

What about the Destroyer and Blue Panther? Destroyer was at his peak of internet buzz when this list was done. Panther will probably make a fair amount of people's lists, I just question if he'll get enough points to rank. Strangely, for people in the 90's, I think both Atlantis and Rick Martel are both locks and probably make the top 50. -
Yeah sorry. The other downside I should have mentioned is that it's only available in 32 countries with Brazil, France, Spain, Germany, Costa Rica, and Malaysia blocked due to various YouTube restrictions.

Thought I would start a thread for Stardom since they are starting their own streaming service via YouTube. It just started today and for now they are having a free 2-week trial with a monthly subscription of $4.99 U.S. The only possible downside is they probably won't be using broadcast footage of their bigger shows. Their own footage, up to this point, has just been one cameraman at ringside. While that works well when the action is in the ring, it gets a bit troublesome when the action goes outside at some of the smaller buildings. I'll be happy if they can add a hard camera like they had for the U.S. tour they did last fall. That is a minor complaint, it's awesome to see this especially with a Japanese promotion that's doing pretty well in-ring right now. Match results for past shows and line-ups for upcoming shows can be found here.

This is a really fun, but short, title match. Despite the length, this is still a good showcase for both women. The thing that I like about these Santana title defenses is that each of her opponents have different strengths so you get to see her show off her versatility. Evie has mainly a kick based offense with some matwork mixed in so the story of the match is that Santana is able to keep up with Evie's offense plus get the advantage because she is able to mix in some different stuff that keeps Evie off balance. Would have been nice to see this go longer, but they were able to tell a good compact story with the time that they had. ***1/2

While these two worked together a lot around this time, this match is the best one that they've had together. They work it as a big show match rather than a typical house show one so you get some learned spot along with some different counters. It's really amazing how much better Charlotte is when she has a clear character and is comfortable with her moveset. Sasha's performance isn't too far off of her other big match performances. ****

This is pretty much your standard monster vs. flyer match but it still ends up being something really fun. Ray spends the entire match just throwing every big risky move that she has at Havok hoping to take her down. So you spend the whole match wonder if she's going to succeed or just get crushed. ***1/2

[2015-03-15-Pro Wrestling WAVE] Ryo Mizunami vs Rina Yamashita
donsem43 posted a topic in March 2015
This is just a super fun, super physical match. These two literally got right at each other from the bell and don't really stop till the end of the match. Although Yamashita keeps finding the right times to work on a sleeper and eventually ends up getting the big win with it. ***3/4-

Thread for Arisa and tiny Rabbit Miu taking on Team DIANA. Thread for the Shine title match between Santana Garrett and Allysin Kay.

Really fun title match that had these two going toe-to-toe right at the start. What really makes the match work is that both women are actually able to throw good strikes, which is rare for indy women. Santana gets bonus points for fearlessly bumping into the creepy guys in the crowd during some brawling outside of the ring. They do a frantic roll-up finish at the end which is worked a bit sloppy but did fit in with the pace they had worked all match. ***3/4

Pretty much all of her street fights from around her peak are pretty good if not great. The ones with Kansai get the most talk but my personal favourite is the 2/28/99 one vs. Mima Shimoda in Oz Academy. Also checkout her 7/18/99 tag with Aja vs. Sugar Sato/Chikayo Nagashima in GAEA, which I don't think made the '99 yearbook. Her more recent stuff is frustrating to watch cause there are so many run-ins and interference spots that it just becomes annoying to watch. In the rare time were there isn't much of that crap you can still see that Ozaki can be a good worker, but that doesn't happen often enough.
