  1. Reading the WON 12/19/88 recap and it's the first I've heard of Vince trying to sabotage SuperClash III by leaking news of Kerry's amputated foot. IIRC, the foot was amputated in late '86. So, did he have any great matches afterwards? If so, should he get any extra "credit" for working on one foot?
  2. Masa Fuchi cornering for Jumbo in the early '90s, marking out along with the rest of the crowd.
  3. Quite the contrast in tag matches on this disc, with the Hamada's UWF six-man, the All Japan six-man, and this. This would have been one helluva MSC show to be at live, between this insanity and the nutty strap battle royal.
  4. Echoing everyone else when I say well done, Kris. Just wish WWE network would get their shit together so I could watch some of this stuff easier...
  5. This was the first show I've listened to, and it was great. Good job guys!
  6. Vince's (or whoever's) aversion to first names is one of the stranger things about WWE lately.
  7. Holy shit, what a segment. Brock smashes everything, then the pissed off mom version of Stephanie comes out to "suspend" him. Amazing.
  8. Barrett on color commentary during the Bryan/Ziggler match mentioned how Bryan has a history of neck problems and Ziggler a concussion history, so the hard-hitting match was good for him. That was before the backdrop superplex and the headbutt battle finish.
  9. Good lord, that clothesline off the apron...Roman is going to be sore for like a week.
  10. Fine match, but I certainly hope they don't break up Lana and Rusev. They've been the most (only?) consistently entertaining parts of Raw for the last few months. And if they do split, what happens to Lana? She's no wrestler, AFAIK.
  11. The bad thing is that there's no way the movie can live up to the sublime stupidity of that entrance. So gloriously dumb.
  12. Some super-cringy bumps in the ladder match - the superplex, the powerbomb, and that sleeper slam by Ziggler on Harper - but not quite as bad as I'd feared. Three-for-three on entertaining matches so far.
  13. I'm up to "Somewhat" from "Low". I really thought last night's Raw was the best in months, aside from the tug-of-war anyway. Like Parv I'm more interested in the booking and crowd reactions rather than the actual card, but Rusev/Cena and the divas match I am looking forward to.
  14. Back in the old tOA days, jdw and/or Frank Jewett came up with a list of questions they called the "Gordy List". (I can't find the original thread where they're posted, but I'm pulling the list below from here.) It's based off a list Bill James created to evaluate baseball players called the "Keltner list". Here's the list: 1. Was he ever regarded as the best draw in the world? Was he ever regarded as the best draw in their country or their promotion? 2. Was he an international draw, national draw and/or regional draw? 3. How many years did he have as a top draw? 4. Was he ever regarded as the best workers in the world? Was he ever regarded as the best workers in their country or in their promotion? 5. Were they ever the best workers in their class (sex or weight)? Were they ever among the top workers in their class? 6. How many years did they have as top workers? 7. Was they good workers before their prime? Were they good workers after their prime? 8. Did he have a large body of excellent matches? Did he have a excellent matches against a variety of opponents? 9. Did he ever anchor their promotion(s)? 10. Was he effective when pushed at the top of cards? 11. Was he valuable to their promotion before their prime? Was he still valuable to their promotion after their primes? 12. Did he have an impact on a number of strong promotional runs? 13. Was he involved in a number of memorable rivalries, feuds or storylines? 14. Was he effective working on the mic, working storylines or working angles? 15. Did he play their role(s) effectively during his career? 16. What titles and tournaments did he win? What was the importance of his reign(s)? 17. Did he win many honors and awards? 18. Did he get mainstream exposure due to heir wrestling fame? Did he get a heavily featured by the wrestling media? [note: this was copied from the thread linked above. Dunno what it was originally supposed to be. If John ever wanders back over here and finds this thread, I'm sure he can provide some context . ] 19. Was he top tag team wrestlers? 20. Was he innovative? 21. Was he influential? 22. Did he make the people and workers around him better? 23. Did he do what was best for the promotion? Did he show a commitment to wrestling? 24. Is there any reason to believe that he was better or worse than he appeared? IIRC, the list was meant to have a basis to evaluate HOF candidates, so a lot of the drawing, etc. questions aren't really relevant for this project, but this thread made me remember this thing from back in the day.

    Current WWE

It's understandable to limit Sting's appearances, but why isn't HHH here 2 weeks before WrestleMania?
  16. Paul E. has been on a roll, whipping out the pre-Vatican II funeral stuff. Fun part of these interviews is JR rolling his eyes and making faces behind Paul's back while he's ranting. Given how grumpy he is IRL, there's probably a good chance he's shooting .
  17. Agree that the MVC has been underwhelming to say the least in 1991, but I dug this way way more than others in the thread have been. Thought they told a good story despite the aimless holds, and the last 10 or so minutes as they worked towards the finish was great.
  18. Funny bit where Embry completely loses his train of thought and Dave has to remind him to plug the matches. IIRC, the Memphis studio show was live, so I wonder how often this happened.
  19. I completely agree with this but doesn't Vince have to take at least half blame? Or even most of it? I mean we are still dealing with this shit today Herb Kunze? "Now that's a name I've not heard in a long time..."
  20. So much wincing during this match at Mick just stupid bumps. How he didn't fracture his skull at some point from the Nestea plunge I don't know.
  21. Would loved to have seen this match in full, if only to count how many ref bumps there were in total. Had to have been in the double digits.
  22. I for one am at least happy to see that Paul E. and Missy have set aside their differences after that unpleasantness earlier in the year to search for the Chamber of Horrors. Let's hope they're successful.
  23. Is it just me, or does Lawler sounds even more checked out than usual tonight?
  24. What a letdown! I would have thought that Japanese shootstyle would have been something Backlund could really get into. Good to know there's a rematch coming up.

    NXT Takeover Arrival

This is a tiny thing but I loved that the announcers were silent during both entrances for the main event, and didn't say anything until after the ring announcer was finished. They let the moment breathe, made it seem a little more important to me anyway.
