  1. Incredible stuff Parv, thanks for posting. And thanks to the youtuber for editing those together. With title and end cards!

    WWE TV 7/27 - 8/2

Plus Cena was cranking in the STF a lot harder than he usually does.
  3. Glad to see the falling asleep during old matches is not just me. Can't tell you how many times I've had to rewind a match on the yearbooks when I nodded off.

    WWE TV 7/20 - 7/26

That was an...interesting segment hying the Jake Gyllenhaal boxing movie. They've done plenty of product placement and other promo segments before - bad comedy segments for Sonic or Burger King, HHH's WrestleMania entrance - but I don't know if they've done a straight-up commercial with what looked like WWE production.
  5. It's as glorious as I'd imagined.
  6. Best match of all time? Not quite, but certainly MOTY. Amazing crowd, great heel work, and Toyota's stuff didn't annoy me all that much.
  7. Since they were in Japan recently, maybe WWE should have taken the opportunity to have Sasaki give Cena a remedial course on STF application? It's looking pretty loose recently.
  8. In the minority here - loved this, and I didn't think this was too long at all. Han's selling of Maeda's strikes was tremendous. The finish did feel like it came out of nowhere, but it fit with the story that Han couldn't handle Maeda's striking.
  9. The latest date I see on any of this is 2010. I wonder how much of this has changed in 5 years?

    Hulk Hogan

Hogan's ability to electrify a promotion and make things feel more important should count for something. He did it not once, but THREE times in his career for three different companies. Assuming the three cases in question were WWF, WCW, and TNA: Hogan in all three cases was likewise instrumental in creating the worst periods in the histories of all three companies. Moreso than any other wrestler. You can't celebrate Hogan's positive influence on box office (clear, valid) or his "big match" capacity without acknowledging that he was true poison (and IMO equally poisonous) at three pivotal points (end of WCW, '02-'03 WWE, and post-2010 TNA) as well. All three groups were badly burned by him, in ways so damaging that each company has since failed to recover. Anyone reading the news lately knows that Hogan is his own worst enemy. This is probably off-topic, but how was he "true poison" in '02-'03 WWE? (That's an honest question, as that was during my wrestling dark period and I really don't know the specifics.)
  11. I saw that too. Some of that should be common sense, announcer 101 stuff - everything under the "Don'ts" and "Do's" sections. But there's a ton of weird Vince shit, like and

    WWE TV 7/6 - 7/12

Brock vs. Jamie Noble's rednecked-up Cadillac was grandly entertaining. Although I hope Joey Mercury is okay, as that bump was nasty.
  13. Can't believe no one has commented on 1992 Foley's stunning resemblance to Dutch Mantel. Though it may be just the hair and beard.
  14. Watts may be a racist asshole, but he has gravitas as a pro wrestling authority figure. This was a great promo, something that WWF/E would never do in 1992 much less today.
  15. Loved this, especially the stretch run. Knowing that this is Jumbo's last match affects my viewing of it, I'm sure - instead of watching the match early on, I'm looking at Jumbo, trying to gauge how sick he was.
  16. Loved the show, like everyone else. Main difference for me is that Cole wasn't constantly hyping the angles, and was actually calling the matches. And he's not great at it but at least he wasn't actively bad.
  17. You should see the car he drives around...today Don't tease me like that.
  18. They won Tag Team of the Year in the WON awards in 1992. I'm almost through the 92 yearbook and like most around here, I'm underwhelmed with their work. Can jdw or someone else can explain the appeal back in the day?
  19. Great brawl, amazing Dundee interview (co-starring Bill's equally amazing airbrushed denim jacket), and as a bonus, Tommy Rich threatening Dundee's life life. USWA was pulling off great stuff this year.
  20. So for one, this probably explains the "Thanks for all the fun times" tweet from James Storm, and secondly things mist be really getting to the end if Dixie has to enlist legit nazis to give her people bad news in her place. Why are any of the production staff still working for TNA?

  22. There's also Titan Sinking: The decline of the WWF in 1995 by James Dixon. Anyone know anything about this one?
  23. Someone a lot smarter than me should write up something comparing Toyota's go-go-go style to the Movez~! matches going on in the US indies during the last 10-15 years. Seems like a lot of similarities with matches like this - fast pace, tons of near falls off big moves, etc. Or I don't know what I'm talking about.
  24. High comedy here as King has the nerve to poke fun at Dave Brown's old wardrobe while wearing bright purple and lime trunks and a purple cape.
  25. The unfortunate referee looks like Ted Tanabe, the chubby ref from Michinoku Pro. And poor Matsunaga had a nasty burn on his lower back right after the first fire bump - this couldn't have been fun for anyone involved.
