Saturday morning has succumed to the "death slot" curse. Most younger fans are simply just streaming or playing video games now on Saturday mornings, and the Saturday morning shows that ARE hits are ones that also have a teen/adult demographic (ie, The Ghost and Molly McGee, The Owl House). While wrestling does have that demographic built in, the last major wrestling show to get a Saturday Morning slot was Saturday Morning Slam, which was only a half hour and had ridiculous restrictions on which moves could be done (no moves involving the neck or face, meaning Rey had to do the 619 to the backs of opponents). I'd love to see Saturday wrestling come back, but I think we've sadly lost it (though putting a replay of Rampage on Saturday morning could be the next best thing, especially for people who dont want to watch a 10pm wrestling show).

Young Rock: A New NBC Sitcom About the Life of Dwayne Johnson
JRH replied to C.S.'s topic in Pro Wrestling
So apparently next season's storyline is going to be Dwayne forming his own country. No, really. -
I'm getting the feeling we may not be getting a HOF ceremony this year, they still havent announced any inductees (unless they're planning on announcing them all together at once).

I wonder if Sting's ever considered dropping the Crow look and going back to using different designs for facepaint again. He looked like he was going that way in TNA, especially around the time of Joker Sting.

It looks like they photoshopped his head onto an old pic of Ted Dibiase. -

So I read that "We Promised You a Great Main Event" book I asked about earlier. It's basically a history of the WWE from VKM's takeover up to WM36. It's nothing really new, and has a weird snarky tone to it as well. The only new things I learned were that the shots of kids wearing WWE merchandise in the crowd were set up, they'd give the kids merch and show them playing with it, then take it away (they were likely allowed to keep the ice cream bars) and give them to another kid. The other, more interesting thing, was the origin of Repo Man. Barry Darsow came across a tape of some indy guy doing a repo man gimmick (a more realistic take on the character), and showed it to Vince (likely suggesting he hire said indy wrestler), but Vince was more in love with the gimmick and gave it to Darsow, who took a more comedic approach to it. -
Maybe this belongs in the RIP Lanny Poffo thread, but I'm surprised that the WWE didnt acknowledge Lanny's death on any of their tv. He was there for quite a while, and you'd think being Randy Savage's brother they'd at least put an In Memorium graphic up there at least.

Where did you hear this? And what's Bam Bam's dark side?
-
My guesses: Batista Lex Luger Sean Waltman Luna Vachon Mike Rotundo Motorhead (celebrity induction) (though for them, I'd just have the surviving members perform "The Game" or "King of Kings" live with Lemmy's vocals on tape)

Hence why I said "guys".

The thing about Sami winning the title is, where do you go with him after he wins? All I see are a bunch of matches against Bloodline members. Meanwhile, with Cody we've already got ready-made feuds with him against Gunter and Rollins, and potential for other ones as well.

There's way too many guys in generic black (or mostly black) ring attire now. It's not just a WWE problem, but looking at the Rumble, it seemed like at least 75% of the guys in there resembled that remark. I understand it if it's part of their gimmick, but at least use some variety (maybe use rotating colored tights). Say what you will about Cody's Red, White, and Blue tights, but at least they stand out.

So it's not a legit issue? Too bad, I was hoping to read about if the clawhold should be banned.

He also shares his real first name with his dad.

If you have the Hoopla app, there's an ebook about the final days of the AWA (1987-1991). They detail all of the house shows from this period, worth checking out if you're interested in AWA stuff. -

Oh it's getting much worse with accuracy. They had Hulk Hogan showing up at Dwayne's wedding to Dana, and I dont recall Dwayne ever talking about being good friends with Hogan in any non-kayfabe interviews. -
What do you think of shows held in outdoor venues? I personally love them as they give the shows a unique look. While I've never really been to an outdoor show (aside from an indy show held as part of a state fair way back in the day), it's neat to see shows in the sun, as well as when sunset hits. That said, I can understand how ones that are held in hot weather could negatively affect the wrestlers (especially if they wrestle in bodysuits or shirts, meaning they could get really hot and tired during the match).

Whoever beats Roman, it'll be the final step in creating a new WWE, since Roman was the last champ of the VKM era.
-
Reigns/Rock is going to be an overbooked disaster since Rock likely cant take any serious bumps (not due to his physical condition, but because of his acting career).
-
Roman has to eventually lose the title, but to who? Cody seems like the favorite option I suppose, but is there anyone else? It's probably a safe bet that this is Roman's final run anyway, no way you can top it.

They did this quite a bit for Prime Time and All American as well. My theory is that the original commentary may have had references to the prior match/segment and since that segment didnt air (or at least not in the same order) it would be irrelevant. They did it for re-airings of syndie shows as well, the ep of Superstars where Earthquake injured Hogan had Ventura on commentary solo for the last two matches with Vince finally coming out sounding somber and disinterested in the matches while Ventura chided him for being so "unprofessional". For the Prime Time version though, those matches aired with the Mooney/Hayes combo and the Hogan incident, obviously, wasnt brought up.

I read that as Tim Horner at first LOL (though to be fair, someone like Horner does have history in most of the major promotions).

Wonder if Jericho gets along with Regal over their love of heavy metal at least.

I wouldnt be surprised if Vince hasnt previously recorded a bunch of footage for when he dies to set up one final "Vinceploitation" angle.
