  1. It's starting to feel like they dont really care about the Network anymore. Forget the smaller content drops, even the original content isnt that promoted as much. It's almost as if the FOX deal caused them to forget about it.

I wonder what time slot it'll be getting. Even though weekend tv is a ratings black hole, a Saturday show would still work, and might even draw in younger viewers and casuals channel surfing.
  3. Triple H did make a similar joke about himself during the DX days ("Besides my kids being born, who I dont have, that I know of,,") but at least he was portraying himself as somewhat of a bufoon and it was at his own expense.
  4. They brought Savage up as a potential challenger for Slaughter in the Tunney interview on The Main Event, but that was the last we heard of it. I would have just had the match air on Superstars, but before they even make contact, have warrior run in and beat up Savage and cause the match to get thrown out, that way you keep the Savage/Warrior feud going and give both men some extra motivation.

In England, they apparently had WWF Classics in the early 2000s which showed eps of Wrestling Challenge from 87-88.
  6. I prefer the one hour format too, as you dont see the same wrestlers every week (so far, NXT and AEW have been ok about that with their two-hour shows, but who knows what the future will bring?), and it makes the show move faster. It's still possible to have angles develop on a one hour show, NXT had lots of good stuff like the "who attacked Alister Black" storyline which played out while still only one hour.
  7. Actually, Batista wants Finlay to induct him.
  8. I wonder who inducts them. Bischoff is likely out, so maybe Dibiase? As for my predictions for the rest of the HOF: Lex Luger Sable Vader Ozzy (Celebrity Wing) I can also see them giving Roman the Warrior award.

With most current streaming services focusing more on price (ie, under ten dollars), having a higher priced tier would be a really bad idea (are there any streaming services that put content into a higher priced tier?).

I'm thinking they may just split it into two, WWE Classics for all the classic content, and the core WWE Network for 2014-present footage.

I'd like to see them take another aspect of old school wrestling and do music videos (more of a memphis thing, but other promotions did it as well). With Corgan you've got the entire Smashing Pumpkins catalog to pick songs from, and you could also use indie bands (therefore putting over the wrestlers and giving the bands some exposure).

I was just thinking, do you think AEW could succesfully market to a younger (ie, pre-teen) crowd? Guys like Darby, Luchasaurus, Jungle Boy, Orange Cassidy all have kid appeal, and they probably would dig the whole fast-paced style of the company.
  13. Here's an odd one I discovered, Carolina Wrestling Historic Archives. Though it's got some newer indie stuff, the thing that caused me to subscribe was the various episodes of ultra low budget indies from the 80s/90s.: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnFw9yQDQK83SMlZ4WdKgFg There's also Plana Productions, which has some actually well-done "what if" videos (their newest one for example is what If Undertaker's Streak never ended) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXCE0a1rG9I

They also had 2 shows in 1991. IIRC, the tv show (at least the syndicated one) still aired on tv through 1991, but by that point it was just a "greatest hits" type show showing older matches.
  15. I dont see Bruno being involved with the Mafia, knowing his personality (or at least, what's we've heard in shoot interviews). At worst, he may have had friends who happened to be in the mob, but Bruno himself was likely innocent.
  16. Did he say "The Fall Out Boy"?
  17. Getting back to the tv topic, it should also be noted that sometimes Prime Time and All American would replay the Superstars/Challenge matches with new commentary (usually by Hayes/Mooney), so as to both give the impression that they were new matches as well as to avoid having to discuss any angles that may have happened on Superstars/Challenge prior to that match.

Sadly, it seems that both shows have inexplicably been removed.
  19. When did Challenge go to the Monsoon/Heenan team? I've seen clips of the earlier episodes and the broadcast team is Monsoon and Ernie Ladd and Johnny Valiant.
  20. Stan Hansen being managed by Freddie Blassie in early 80s WWF. You had roughneck Hansen being managed by a guy in a glittey coat. Didnt fit together at all.
  21. He did have a denim vest with a bunch of band logos for a very brief time, but they dropped it. Shame as I mark for wrestlers wearing band shirts (at least it's more believable than them wearing their own merchandise).
  22. When I first got into it in 1990, the only wrestling in my market (New Hampshire) was Wrestling Challenge, ICW/IWCCW, and the occasional SNME special. When I got cable in 1993 I got most of the major stuff, as well as Superstars (since we also got the FOX afffiliate out of Boston along with the cable package). Prior to that I had to follow WCW and the other feds with PWI and visits to my Grandparent's house (who were early adopters of cable).
  23. The WCW footage was pretty much B-Roll footage that they can use for documentary/news purposes. It's why Dark Side of the Ring is packed with WWE-owned footage.
  24. How could I forget this, in the Simpsons episode The Day the Violence Died, Lionel Hutz's "surprise witnesses" include the McGuire Twins (no lines, it's just a throwaway gag). Granted, this assumes you consider them "wrestlers" in the first case.

How is that mocking Dusty? Bayley spoke highly of Dusty in that clip, it was the Bar who ripped up the bear.
